I began this blog back in 2009. What feels like yesterday, is now 12 years ago. In that time span, I have published hundreds of delicious, unique, and classic recipes. Every now and again, I like to put these recipes together into a nice little collection to help make finding what you need much easier.

Today I’m back with one of those collections and this one is all about spring desserts. While I’m a fan of desserts any time of the year, I especially love them during spring. For me, a spring dessert is light, refreshing, and creamy. It’s sweet without being or feeling overly gluttonous.

What Makes a Good Spring Dessert Recipe?

Honestly, any dessert you eat in the spring could be considered a spring dessert. However, these are a few things I think make a seasonally appropriate spring sweet.

  • Keep it light and refreshing. Think citrus, fruits, berries, etc.
  • Use seasonal ingredients. I like cherries, rhubarb, fresh herbs, carrots, etc.
  • Make it easy. With warmer weather there’s a lot of work to do outside which means less time inside. Pick a recipe that’s easy to make and requires less time in the kitchen.
  • Keep it colorful. I take inspiration from everything that is blooming in nature and try to bring all of the life and beautiful colors into my baking.

  1. Thank you for sharing this smaller spring dessert roundup. I’m the kind of person that gets overwhelmed when I see 50 or more recipes at once and then just kind of give up.

  2. I always look forward to your recipes and, of course, other things you write, but especially your recipes. I truly think you need to compile them and write a cookbook. You could either do Desserts by Seasons or Desserts For Each Month. Thanks for always sharing your knowledge with us.
