You might know that I love a good dip recipe around here. As I was looking through my collection of dip recipes I realized I was lacking in the dessert dip department so I decided to add this funfetti dip to the collection.

I’m so glad I did because this has quickly become a new favorite.

Now, you might be asking, “Michael, isn’t this basically just frosting in a bowl disguised as a dip?” And to that, I proudly say, “Well, yes it is!

I tested out a few recipes including a couple made with dry cake batter mix, and I just didn’t like them that much. But then with one bite of this funfetti dip, I knew I had a winner!

I’m pretty certain you’re going to love it too!

Ingredients

Ready to give it a try? Let me tell you what you’ll need.

  • unsalted butter – I usually use unsalted butter in my kitchen. I do this when possible to control the amount of salt in my recipes. If you only have salted butter, don’t worry, it will work fine. Just don’t add the additional salt.
  • cream cheese – Philadelphia Cream Cheese is my go-to. Their ⅓ less fat variety will work in this recipe.
  • vanilla extract and almond extract – These add that “Funfetti” or cake flavor to this dip. I especially love the almond extract in this recipe.
  • salt – Every sweet recipe needs a touch of salt to balance out the flavors.
  • confectioners’ sugar – Confectioners’ sugar adds sweetness and helps to keep this dip light and fluffy.
  • Sprinkles – I recommend these round-style sprinkles for this recipe. However, I provided a few other options in the FAQ section below.
  • Vanilla wafers, graham crackers, pretzels, and/or strawberries – Any sweet cookie or fruit will work here. My favorites were vanilla wafer cookies and strawberries.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you store this dip?

Once prepared, you’ll want to keep this dip refrigerated. It can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to four days.

Is this funfetti dip the same as Dunkaroo dip?

I wouldn’t say that they are identical, but they are very similar. If you like Dunkaroo dip, you’ll LOVE this funfetti dip. I think of it as the gourmet version.

What type of sprinkles can I use?

I recommend a softer sprinkle for this funfetti dip. You can use the little circle sprinkles as I did here or the longer “jimmie” style sprinkles

I would avoid any hard or nonpareil-style sprinkles. Not only will they add a hard texture to your dip, but they are usually coated in color which will eventually transfer off the sprinkle and into your dip.
