Call Them Roll-ups or Pinwheels

We’ve made a lot of pinwheel recipes here on Inspired by Charm. (And yes, I use the term roll-up and pinwheel interchangeably because the internet hasn’t told me that there is a difference. Ha!)

I’m excited to add another roll-up to my repertoire with these Taco Pinwheels. I love the flavor combination here as it’s totally different than other pinwheels I’ve made.

Why I Love This Recipe:

The mix of taco seasoning, cream cheese, and all of my favorite taco fillings make this an easy appetizer recipe that is layered with flavor. I love these as a Christmas appetizer, but you can serve them all year long. Once you’ve had one of these pinwheels, it will be hard to resist going back for a second, third, fourth … you get the idea.

Curious about the rest of my pinwheel / roll-up recipes? You’re in luck because I’ve conveniently put them all in one place. You can find them all HERE

To get you started, let me walk you through what you’ll need to recreate this recipe, and then I’ll show you how to assemble the taco pinwheels.

Ingredients:

Here’s what I used to craft my taco pinwheels, but feel free to mix it up and make it your own.

  • flour tortillas
  • cream cheese
  • sour cream
  • taco seasoning
  • mild taco sauce
  • shredded cheddar cheese
  • cooked chicken – I drizzled chicken breasts with olive oil, sprinkled them with salt and pepper, and then roasted them in the oven.
  • black olives
  • jalapeño pepper – Use extra for added heat.
  • parsley
  • salsa

Recipe Variations:

To create your own twist, here are things you could add or change with this recipe.

  • Try a different flavor of tortilla.
  • Use a hot taco sauce.
  • Swap cilantro for the parsley.
  • Use seasoned ground beef instead of chicken.
  • Serve with an additional side of guacamole.
  • Add shredded lettuce.
  • Add chopped scallions.

Now that you know what you need, we are ready to start rolling!

How to Assemble:

I will explain the recipe here, but you can find a detailed ingredient list and instructions in the printable recipe card below.

  1. In a large bowl combine the cream cheese and sour cream.
  2. Add the taco seasoning and taco sauce and mix until combined.
  3. Spread the filling evenly over the tortillas.

One of the reasons that pinwheels are a party essential appetizer for me is because they are so easy to make. I also love that they are so customizable. The different flavor combinations you can make are virtually endless.
