Taco Pinwheels

Mine are made with taco seasoning, cheddar cheese, chicken, olives, and jalapeño, but feel free to customize them with your favorite taco toppings.
We’ve made a lot of pinwheel recipes here on Inspired by Charm. (And yes, I use the term roll-up and pinwheel interchangeably because the internet hasn’t told me that there is a difference. Ha!)
I’m excited to add another roll-up to my repertoire with these Taco Pinwheels. I love the flavor combination here as it’s totally different than other pinwheels I’ve made.

The mix of taco seasoning, cream cheese, and all of my favorite taco fillings make this an easy appetizer recipe that is layered with flavor. I love these as a Christmas appetizer, but you can serve them all year long. Once you’ve had one of these pinwheels, it will be hard to resist going back for a second, third, fourth … you get the idea.

To get you started, let me walk you through what you’ll need to recreate this recipe, and then I’ll show you how to assemble the taco pinwheels.
Ingredients
Here’s what I used to craft my taco pinwheels, but feel free to mix it up and make it your own.
- flour tortillas
- cream cheese
- sour cream
- taco seasoning
- mild taco sauce
- shredded cheddar cheese
- cooked chicken – I drizzled chicken breasts with olive oil, sprinkled them with salt and pepper, and then roasted them in the oven.
- black olives
- jalapeño pepper – Use extra for added heat.
- parsley
- salsa
Recipe Variations
To create your own twist, here are things you could add or change with this recipe.
- Try a different flavor of tortilla.
- Use a hot taco sauce.
- Swap cilantro for the parsley.
- Use seasoned ground beef instead of chicken.
- Serve with an additional side of guacamole.
- Add shredded lettuce.
- Add chopped scallions.

How to Assemble

- In a large bowl combine the cream cheese and sour cream.
- Add the taco seasoning and taco sauce and mix until combined.
- Spread the filling evenly over the tortillas.
- Sprinkle evenly with cheddar cheese, chicken, black olives, jalapeño pepper, and chopped parsley.
- Roll up each tortilla tightly.
- Place on a plate, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate,
- Cut into ½-inch thick slices.
And you’re ready to serve! Arrange the slices on a platter and serve with a bowl of your favorite salsa.
If you want a festive look, you can style them into a Christmas tree.

One of the reasons that pinwheels are a party essential appetizer for me is because they are so easy to make. I also love that they are so customizable. The different flavor combinations you can make are virtually endless.

Taco Pinwheels
Ingredients
- 6 flour tortillas
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 4 ounces sour cream
- 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
- ⅓ cup mild taco sauce
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 ½ cups shredded cooked chicken
- 1/4 cup chopped black olives
- 1 jalapeño pepper deseeded and chopped
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- salsa for serving
Instructions
- In a large bowl combine the cream cheese and sour cream. Add the taco seasoning and taco sauce and mix until combined.
- Spread the filling evenly over the tortillas. (A little less than 1/4 cup on for each tortilla.)
- Sprinkle evenly with cheddar cheese, chicken, black olives, jalapeño pepper, and chopped parsley.
- Roll up each tortilla tightly. Place on a plate, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 2 hours.
- Cut into ½-inch thick slices.
- Serve with salsa.
