Ingredients
Here’s what I used to craft my taco pinwheels, but feel free to mix it up and make it your own.
- Flour Tortillas – Soft and flexible, they’re the perfect base for holding all the flavorful fillings in these pinwheels.
- Cream Cheese – This creamy ingredient provides a smooth texture and rich flavor, creating the ideal base for the taco-inspired filling.
- Sour Cream – Adds a tangy note and creamy consistency that complements the cream cheese and balances the spice of the taco seasoning.
- Taco Seasoning – This blend of spices brings the essential taco flavor, giving each bite a kick of warmth and zest.
- Mild Taco Sauce – A gentle layer of taco flavor that adds just the right hint of sauciness without overwhelming the other ingredients.
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese – Melts perfectly into the filling, adding a sharp, cheesy element that enhances the taco flavors.
- Shredded Cooked Chicken – Hearty and satisfying, it makes these pinwheels more filling and adds great texture to each slice.
- Chopped Black Olives – For a hint of briny flavor, these add a touch of earthiness and a pop of color to the mix.
- Jalapeño Pepper (Deseeded and Chopped) – Brings a subtle heat and fresh crunch without overpowering the other flavors.
- Chopped Parsley – Adds a touch of freshness and a splash of green, bringing everything together with a vibrant finish.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make these Taco Pinwheels ahead of time?
Yes! You can make the pinwheels up to a day in advance. After rolling them, cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate until you’re ready to slice and serve. This actually helps the flavors meld, making them even tastier.
Can I use other meats instead of chicken?
Absolutely. Shredded beef or ground turkey seasoned with taco spices works great in place of chicken. You could even make them vegetarian by adding more cheese or using black beans for a plant-based option.
How can I make these pinwheels spicier?
For more heat, try using spicy taco seasoning or a hotter taco sauce. Adding more jalapeños, or even a sprinkle of crushed red pepper, can kick up the spice level. Adjust based on your and your guests’ preferences!
