I’m excited to share with you a recipe that’s sure to add a sprinkle of fun to your cocktail repertoire: the Sugar Cookie Martini. This isn’t just any drink; I describe it as dessert in a glass. If creamy dessert-inspired drinks are your jam, this recipe is for you!

Over the years I’ve made a lot of Christmas cocktails on the blog. As I was brainstorming what might be missing from this collection, my mind immediately went to a Sugar Cookie Martini. While I have some other creamy cocktails like this White Chocolate Peppermint Martini or my classic White Christmas Cocktail, neither of these have a frosting AND sugar cookie garnish.

Speaking of the sugar cookie garnish, I recommend making just a few of these smaller cookies using any cookie dough you love. These mini Christmas cookie cutters work perfectly. Choose whatever shape you love.

Here is a great Sugar Cookie Recipe if you need one. I also cut some cookies out of my Gingerbread Cookie Dough which worked great too! Don’t want all the fuss of cookie making? I get it. You can totally leave them off or purchase your favorite cookie from the store.

Sugar cookie garnish or not, this drink tastes just like a sugar cookie and I’m certain it’s going to become a new staple when you’re entertaining. You’re going to love it!

Why You’ll Love This Cocktail Recipe

  • Whether it’s a cozy night in or a festive holiday gathering, this martini fits right in. It’s like bringing the joy of the holiday season into a glass, but honestly, it’s a hit any time of the year.
  • Move over, standard martinis! The combination of creamy Baileys, smooth vodka, and the rich flavor of amaretto creates a taste that’s both unique and familiar. It’s like sipping on your favorite sugar cookie but with a delightful boozy twist.
  • The frosted, sprinkle-rimmed glass topped with a sugar cookie not only tastes great but also looks amazing. It’s the kind of drink that makes you pause for a moment to admire before you take a sip.

Ingredients

Let’s gather up all the ingredients you’ll need to make this Sugar Cookie Christmas Martini. Here’s what you’ll want to gather:

For the Martini

  • Whole Milk: It’s the creamy base that brings everything together. I recommend whole milk for a creamier texture, but you can substitute with 2% milk, almond milk, oat milk, etc.
  • Baileys (Salted Caramel or Classic): Here’s the magic maker! This adds that indulgent, creamy sweetness. Feel free to choose between the rich classic flavor or salted caramel.
  • Whipped or Vanilla Vodka: Now the fun begins. Whether you go for the airy lightness of whipped vodka or the sweet essence of vanilla, you’re in for a treat.
  • Amaretto: This is the secret star. Its deep, sweet almond flavor adds a layer of sophistication to your martini. I like Disaronno.

For the Show-Stopping Rim

  • Frosting: It’s not just for cakes anymore! This sweet, sticky layer helps to hold those colorful sprinkles in place. You can use your favorite recipe. This Cream Cheese Frosting is always a winner.
  • Sprinkles: Because why not? They add a playful pop of color and a bit of fun texture.
  • Small Sugar Cookie: Like a cherry on top, but in this case it’s a cookie! It’s the perfect edible garnish that takes this martini from great to unforgettable. Here’s a great Sugar Cookie Recipe if you need one.

With all of our ingredients assembled, it’s time to shake up this festive martini.

Recipe Variations

Love this so much that you want to try it in a few different ways. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

  • Chocolate Twist: Add a splash of chocolate liqueur or a few drops of chocolate syrup for a chocolatey take on this sweet martini.
  • Coffee Lover’s Dream: Mix in a shot of espresso or coffee liqueur for a caffeinated kick that complements the creamy flavors beautifully.
  • Spiced Up: For a warm, spicy twist, add a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg, or even a splash of spiced rum. This brings a cozy, wintery feel to your martini.
  • Salted Caramel Upgrade: If you’re using classic Baileys, try adding a swirl of salted caramel sauce to enhance the sweet and savory balance.

These additional twists can transform your Sugar Cookie Martini into a new experience every time!

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I don’t have a cocktail shaker?

No shaker, no problem! You can mix the ingredients in a glass with a spoon or close them up in a mason jar and give it a good shake.

Is it okay to use low-fat or plant-based milk?

Sure thing! Feel free to use any milk you prefer. Almond, soy, or oat milk can add their own unique twist to the flavor.

Can I prepare this in advance?

It’s best enjoyed freshly made, but you can mix the liquids and keep them in the fridge. Just do the shaking part with ice right before serving to keep it cool and fresh.

Can this recipe be doubled or made in a batch?

Of course! This recipe scales up beautifully for a crowd. Just multiply the ingredients by the number of servings you need. Since this recipe serves two, I recommend scaling up by 2s.

  1. Hi, Michael!
I am very excited to try this creative cocktail, and I am considering serving these at a Cookie Swap over the holidays. Could you please advise which sugar cookie recipe to use to make the tiny cookies for the rim? I couldn’t find a link, so I searched your recipes, but there are many of them. Thank you in advance — wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday season!
