Whether you are enjoying the warmth of the summer, hanging out with friends, hosting taco Tuesday, or celebrating Cinco de Mayo, who wouldn’t like a good margarita? Here at Inspired by Charm, we’ve made several different varieties over the years. One of my favorites is my homemade margarita mix recipe.
Now, you all seem to love that recipe, so I wondered if I could do the same thing this time but with the goal being a strawberry margarita mix recipe. Turns out I could, and now you can too! It’s time to pass on the fake flavors in store-bought cocktail mixes and go homemade. You’ll be so glad you made the switch!

Why You’ll Enjoy This Recipe
- There is no comparison between homemade margarita mix and strawberry margarita mix. The fresh flavors in this recipe will knock your socks off.
- You can use this recipe to create a large batched or single-serve cocktail.
- It’s beyond easy. It will take you about five to ten minutes to prep the strawberries and citrus fruit. After that, it’s just pushing a button on a blender.

Ingredients:
- fresh strawberries – The heart of this recipe is the strawberries, the more flavorful the better.
- fresh limes and lemons – Please use freshly squeezed. Seriously, the bottled stuff that is sold at the store does not compare.
- simple syrup – This is one instance where you could buy the store-bought. However, it’s beyond simple to make, so it’s just easier (and less expensive) to make your own. I even have a simple syrup recipe.
You’ll also need a few things to turn this mix into a tasty cocktail.
- tequila – You can use whichever brand you like. I prefer a middle-of-the-road brand like Jose Cuervo.
- triple sec – My go-to is Cointreau. Grand Marnier is another delicious option.
- flaky salt, lime wedge, and fresh strawberries – Used to garnish.

This margarita mix is a breeze to make, but I’ll walk you through the recipe. For your convenience, there is a full ingredient list and detailed instructions in the printable recipe card below.

- Strain into the prepared glass.
- Garnish with a wedge of lime and strawberry.

Recipe Tips and Variations
Store any unused strawberry margarita mix in the refrigerator for up to two days. (Though I personally recommend using it within one day.)
Try serving these margaritas with chicken sriracha tacos, grilled tequila lime chicken kabobs, or homemade peach salsa with tortilla chips.
Variations
- Use a sugar rim instead of salt. While I prefer my margaritas with salt, you can certainly use sugar instead.
- Make it a frozen strawberry margarita. Just blend with ice.
- Make it a mocktail! If you want to keep this drink alcohol-free, you can serve the strawberry margarita mix with a lemon-lime soda.
- Add more berries. You can get creative with this basic recipe by using different berries or a combination of berries.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I use frozen strawberries?
I wouldn’t recommend it. You see, one of the reasons this margarita mix is so delicious is that it’s fresh. Avoid frozen strawberries and store-bought lemon and lime juice.
What can I add to the margarita mix to make it better?
Avoid the store-bought margarita mix. Make your mix at home using fresh ingredients and freshly juiced limes and lemons. It will make an incredible difference.
Why do you put triple sec in margaritas?
Triple sec is an orange-flavored liquor that originated in France. It’s available at most liquor stores. You can purchase a basic triple sec relatively inexpensively. However, I like to splurge a bit here and opt for a more premium variety. My preferred brand is Cointreau, but Grand Marnier is lovely too.
