Ingredients

This party mix is so simple to make; you only need a handful of ingredients to put it together. Here’s what you will need:

  • Rice Chex Cereal: The star of our mix, Rice Chex cereal offers that delightful crunch and acts as the perfect canvas for our flavors.
  • Mini Pretzels: These little pretzels add a lovely salty twist, balancing out the sweetness of the mix, and their fun shapes are always a hit! My go-to pretzel for any snack mix is these Itty Bitty Mini Pretzels.
  • Coarsely Crushed Peppermint Candies or Candy Canes: Ah, the festive hero! These peppermint candies not only infuse our mix with that classic holiday flavor but also add a beautiful pop of color. I found a jar of crushed candies at HomeGoods. (You can also buy them online.) But feel free to crush your own.
  • White Melting Wafers: Nothing tops Ghirardelli for its smooth, rich melt and exquisite flavor. These coat our mix beautifully, creating that irresistible white chocolate-peppermint combo.
  • Sprinkles (optional): If you’re feeling extra festive, sprinkles are the way to go. They add a dash of fun and make the mix look even more inviting. I used these red jimmie-style sprinkles and some of these adorable snowflake sprinkles

Each ingredient brings something special to the table which makes this mix not just a snack but a celebration of holiday flavors. Let’s stir this recipe together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different type of cereal for this recipe?

Absolutely! While Rice Chex is perfect for its crisp texture, you can experiment with other cereals like Corn Chex or even a mix of your favorites.

Is it okay to use regular chocolate instead of white chocolate?

Sure! Regular chocolate can give a different but equally delicious twist. Dark chocolate would be a great contrast to the peppermint, and milk chocolate adds a sweeter touch.

Can I make this recipe ahead of time?

Definitely! It’s a great make-ahead snack. Just store it in an airtight container after it’s set, and you’re good to go. It’s perfect for parties or as a handy snack throughout the week.

How long does this party mix last?

Stored in an airtight container, it can last up to two weeks. But honestly, it’s so tasty it rarely lasts that long!

What’s the best way to crush the peppermint candies?

A rolling pin works great. Just place the candies in a ziplock bag and gently crush them. It takes a bit of effort but oh so worth it for that perfect peppermint crunch.

  1. Okay. This is trouble. I could sit down and eat an entire bowl of this without blinking an eye. Fantastic! I’ll be making another batch to give as gifts. (And giving them in your DIY vintage cookies bags.) Thank you!
