Christmas, Collected: My 2025 Christmas Tree
This Post May Contain Affiliate Links. Please Read Our Disclosure PolicyI’m popping in quickly today to share my 2025 Christmas tree. I had every intention of doing a full show and tell, but I think this time it’s going to be more show and a little less tell. I hope that’s okay. I’m running on fumes at the moment, but I still wanted to get this post up before the big day.
Once the season settles and I have a bit more energy, maybe I can come back and add a little more detail to this post. But then again, does a tree design need a full explanation to be enjoyed? With that said, if you have any questions, feel free to leave them below, and I’ll do my best to answer them when I circle back.
Let’s get into it, and I’ll share a few thoughts along the way.

I’m calling it my Christmas, Collected tree. Why? Because it feels like a culmination of all the trees I’ve decorated over the years, and that feels really nice. I think I’ve been working toward this look without fully realizing it, and it finally feels like I’ve landed. What I love most is that it holds little pieces of all 26+ trees I’ve designed and decorated through the years.
I only decorated one tree this year, and I have a feeling that may be how things go for the foreseeable future. As much as I loved designing new trees each season (and maybe I’ll return to that someday), I think I’m ready to pause and enjoy something familiar, something that feels like me, year after year.

The tree itself is new. It’s from Lieben Riebe; I’ve admired his trees for years. I couldn’t have been more excited when he announced he was selling a line of similarly shaped trees. I’m not sure if this exact one is still available, but I’m fairly certain there will be more in the future.

I sort of threw everything at this tree, and I know to some it might look that way. But honestly, this was the hardest tree I’ve ever decorated. It reminds me of how people often assume painting a loose or abstract image is easier, when in reality it can be the most challenging. The shape of this tree added to that challenge more than I expected, so that’s just something to keep in mind if you’re ever drawn to purchasing a tree like this.
As in years past, I have added a handmade element. My pipe cleaner loop garland (for which I shared the full tutorial last week) made its way onto the branches. It’s simple, easy to make, and I love the bit of sparkle and nostalgia it brings to the whole thing.

And that’s where I’ll leave things for now. While this tree was an adventure to bring to life, and there were moments I wasn’t sure it was going to work at all, the more time I spend with it, the more I love it. Every time I look at it, I notice small echoes of Christmases past. Somehow, this tree meets me exactly where I am right now, and that feels really good.
Merry Christmas, my friend!

It’s beautiful and I love the handmade garland. It’s maximalist in the best way possible!
Happy New Year Michael,
I love the garland on your staircase❤️ Can you please tell me where you purchased it.
Much Thanks,
Alby Furlong
Michael your tre is absolutely wonderful. Your right the shape is to die for and your collection of ornaments are magical. I do a throw everything at it tree as well, and I love the way mine turned out this year. It’s so satisfying isn’t it. Have a wonderful Holiday.
Your tree is beautiful, and I love everything about it! Your focus on vintage holiday ornaments makes it perfect! Your home is one of my favorites on the internet. I noticed recently that you hung some gorgeous wallpaper in your kitchen. I would love to see a post about that!
A gorgeous and memory-filled tree, much like my childhood trees (but more beautifully filled). You always bring heart and emotion to your beautiful creations!
Beautiful tree, Michael! I decorated my tree in a similar fashion this year with many ornaments I love but hadn’t used for a long time. I also left off the garland of ribbon I usually put on. It gave me lots more room for ornaments! Your tree looks homey and nostalgic instead of decorated to the nth degree.
Your tree is perfect in every way! To me, a Christmas tree tells a story & includes memories & history. I love old family ornaments that you remember from childhood, maybe some you have from special trips, collections (my collection is Santas), vintage ornaments too, but always happiness when you look at the tree! Your tree glows & is my idea of the perfect Christmas tree.
Merry Christmas and thank you for all the wonderful posts you have made.
I love a tree with tons of ornaments and this one certainly delivers 🎄. I especially love your Shiny Brites! Merry Christmas!
