Ingredients

It’s time to start making these Peanut Butter Truffles. To begin, let’s gather up the ingredients you’ll need.

  • Confectioners’ Sugar: This is what gives our truffles that melt-in-your-mouth sweetness.
  • Creamy Peanut Butter: Go for your favorite brand here. JIF is my go-to for baking. It’s never let me down. I haven’t tried this recipe with natural peanut butter, but I assume it would work as nicely.
  • Butter: Let’s face it, butter makes everything better.
  • White Chocolate Melting Wafers (Ghirardelli recommended): These ensure a silky-smooth dip for our truffles and a luxurious taste. Ghirardelli is my go-to for that extra touch of quality.
  • Chopped Peanuts (optional): Use them to give an added crunch and fancy finish. Plus, who can say no to a bit more peanut goodness?

Recipe Variations

Looking for some tasty recipe variations of these Peanut Butter Truffles? You’ve got it!

  • Spice It Up: For a warming twist, especially during the colder months, consider adding a dash of cinnamon or a pinch of nutmeg to the peanut butter mix. It’s a subtle change that adds a lovely depth of flavor.
  • Surprise Center: Want to give your friends and family a little surprise? Consider adding a small dollop of jam (think raspberry or strawberry) to the center of your truffle before rolling. Or, for a salted caramel twist, a drop of caramel sauce in the middle works wonders.
  • Milk or Dark Chocolate Dip: If white chocolate isn’t your thing or you just fancy a change, why not melt some dark or milk chocolate for the coating? It pairs beautifully with the rich peanut butter flavor.
  • Espresso Touch: Love coffee? Mix a teaspoon of instant espresso powder into the peanut butter mixture. The espresso powder gives a subtle coffee flavor that elevates the entire experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

You may have a few questions as you work through this recipe. I’ve tried to answer several common ones below. If you have more, just let me know in the comments section and I’ll do my best to get back to you ASAP.

Can I use crunchy peanut butter instead of creamy?

Absolutely! While creamy peanut butter gives a smooth texture to the truffles, using crunchy will add a delightful little crunch to every bite. Choose whatever you like best.

Which white chocolate brands work best for melting?

I recommend Ghirardelli melting wafers for that luxurious taste and silky-smooth finish. But honestly, any high-quality white chocolate should do the trick.

How long can I store these truffles?

Stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator, these truffles should last up to two weeks. But let’s be real—they probably won’t last that long. You can also freeze them for up to three months.

I’m looking to gift these. Any packaging tips?

They make such a lovely gift! Place them in a decorative box with some parchment paper between the layers. Add a cute ribbon and maybe a little note, and you’ve got a heartfelt, homemade gift.

Can I make these without a hand mixer?

Of course! It might require a bit more elbow grease, but you can definitely mix the ingredients using a sturdy spatula or wooden spoon. The key is to ensure everything is well combined.
