Welcome back to Christmas at Bayberry House. I couldn’t be more delighted to give you a tour around another area of my holiday home. Today, I’m sharing my entryway Christmas decor and showing you how I created a festive welcome for all that enter.

Sharing my entryway Christmas decor is especially exciting this year as my walls have a new paint color and I have an all-new custom cabinetry closet and bench. (Details on that HERE.)

This past fall I had some stunning custom cabinetry installed after tearing out a built-in closet during my kitchen renovation last year. This is the first time I’ve really been able to decorate this new space and I couldn’t be more pleased with how it all came together.

The fun part about my entryway is that when you are standing in it, you can see into my family room, living room, and my kitchen. So, as part of my little entryway Christmas decor tour, you’re going to get a little sneak peek at some of my other spaces too. I’ve blogged about most of these rooms, so I’ll be sure to share a link to those spaces so you can see more.

Let me show you around!

My Entryway Christmas Decor:

We’ll start with this view, which is one of my favorites. (I’m going to be saying that a lot because basically every view into and beyond this room makes me giddy.)

I actually shared this photo on Instagram several weeks ago and it quickly became the most liked photo I’ve ever shared. Ever! It’s pretty incredible.

In this photo, my front door is on the left, my family room (with the big brick fireplace) is in front of me, my kitchen is to the right, and my living room is behind me.

I chose the place for my Red and White Christmas Tree here in my family room because of the sight line from my entryway. I love that you can see the tree right away when you enter my house. In fact, you can see both of my trees from the entryway.

On the banister I added a traditional-meets-modern garland. While this styling may look complicated, it’s actually really easy to do. My secret is the ornament garland HERE.

It’s simple to style, just add a pine garland first, then weave in the ornament garland. It’s such a simple way to get a really dynamic look. To finish it off, I added in a string of lights and a few oversized pinecones.

I use these garland ties to attach my garland to my banister. I’ve been using them for years and they work like a dream!

Just behind the banister, heading up the stairs, you’ll see I started a little gallery wall. It’s nothing perfect and I’d like to continue it up the stairs, but I’m loving how it looks so far. It was one of those projects that I was putting off and then one random Tuesday afternoon I just got it done. No thinking, just doing.

From this view you can also get a peek at my Christmas ribbon cabinet. This has become one of my favorite things to decorate. So much so that I wrote an entire post about it HERE.

Next to the front door I hung a mirror and added a festive wreath to it. Below that, I have a small chair topped with this vintage Christmas grain sack pillow I got from Fabric Scout Studio. I love her work!

On the opposite side of the entryway, I have my “formal” living room. I wrote a couple posts about this space including a detailed look at my Christmas tree HERE and a tour of my new living room mantel and custom cabinetry HERE.

On the opposite side of the door I have this fabulous lettering artwork from Lindsay Letters. It’s called “Welcome Here Manifesto” and I just love the message it offers to all that enter my home. All are welcomed here.

And now for the main feature of my entryway: my new cabinetry!

My Entryway Christmas Decor #entryway #christmas #decor #decorating #holiday #entrywaydecor #christmasdecor #stocking #garland

I was so excited to get this all styled for Christmas and couldn’t be more pleased with how it all came together. I actually had some fun Halloween / fall ideas for this space, but then life happened and it just wasn’t meant to be. Next year!

I took inspiration from my butler’s pantry and the slight green tone in this cabinetry. I knew a pop of bold Christmas red would be the perfect addition. I was right. … or at least I think so!

(You can find details on all the paint colors I’ve used in my home via this post HERE.)

On the shelf, I started with a base of faux greens and lights. I then added in a felt ball garland, tucked in a few glass trees, and finished it off with some vintage tins. One of the tins is from Fabric Scout Studio, and the other is a Scotch tape tin that I just barely won in a heated eBay auction. It’s supposedly pretty rare and I got it for a steal.

Below that I hung some knit stockings. These are new, but I love that they have that vintage look and feel. (The knit ones are sold out. The quilted one is another Fabric Scout Studio find!)

On the bench I added a new French mattress style cushion which I got made HERE. I adore it and think it’s the perfect style for this bench.

To that, I added in a couple pillows, (the tree pillow is sold out everywhere, but you can find the pinecone pillow HERE), a vintage woodgrain thermos, and a few wrapped gifts.

Speaking of wrapped gifts, I tucked a few next to my staircase too. Yes, I’m still obsessed with plaid wrapping paper. However, this year I tried something new with my ribbon. I used this stunning linen ribbon from Tidbits Linen. It’s gorgeous and I just love how it looks on my packages.

And with my gifts wrapped, I’d say my entryway is ready for Christmas, wouldn’t you?

Oh, and I forgot to mention, from this angle, you can see into my kitchen. If you missed it, last week I shared a little tour of this space all decorated for Christmas. You can find that HERE.

  1. Michael,
Looking at your pictures makes me happy! I just want to come over and have hot chocolate with you and enjoy the season with you. Thanks for such a beautiful visual in this season of pandemic and sadness.

  2. I love all of your decor from this home and your previous one. You have amazing ideas. But you are truly gifted in holiday decorating…. you should have your own store and consulting services solely for Christmas. It is amazing!

  3. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! If there are home holiday walks in your area, and if interested, you really should be a part of this. My home was last year and loved the experience and meeting neighbors and other guests. Every touch is beautiful Michael! Hope you will take a well deserved break and rest up for 2021! MERRY CHRISTMAS to you/family!!

  4. Your hall looks so welcoming and festive, and I love your manifesto that all are welcome. Thank you for helping us through this unusual year with all your good cheer. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

  5. Just beautiful and I would feel so cozy in your home! It makes me a little jealous, too! Since retiring, we have downsized big-time and do not have the spaces to fill, nor the financial means to do so. However, it is fun to see what you have done and it makes Christmas much brighter.

  6. Everything works so well together and is just perfect but oh, that stairway garland with the big pinecones! Be still my heart. Thanks so much for sharing tips…..saving that one for next year for sure! It is always such a pleasure to roam through your blog, and I hope you know how much I (and many others) enjoy and appreciate your work. Merry Christmas!

  7. Michael, I simply MUST have the picture that everyone is welcome here regardless of everything! Is that a printable or where might I find it? It is just the nicest sentiment I have ever seen.

  8. Just beautiful. It’s obvious that you have taken a lot of joy and put it into your designs. This year we did our usual simple white candles in the windows, a pretty wreath with white lights, and then our mantel. A couple of years ago I went with a whole winter wonderland theme that we could leave up for the entire winter. After that we just stopped – I actually asked my husband if he wouldn’t mind not putting up a tree this year. He said he didn’t care. We used to hold cocktail parties for 50 people – friends, neighbors and family – with everyone dressing up in holiday dresses, men wearing suits, etc.. I used to do it up big. This year the virus has changed everything from not seeing our daughter and her family, our 2 wonderful little granddaughters, with our next door neighbor and friend in ICU and with his life in doubt it just didn’t seem right. But then just a couple of days ago we decided to put up our tree. It has lifted our spirits a bit, and we love hanging ornaments from 50 years of marriage and travel to wonderful places in the world.

  9. Your home is absolutely beautiful. I love how you’ve put Christmas touches everywhere. You have an amazing talent. Thank you for sharing it with me. I look forward to many more ideas in the coming year. Merry Christmas to you.

  10. Michael, there is not a single design choice or knickknack that I don’t adore. Your taste is exquisite yet so homey. It says love to all who enter, just like the manifesto on display. Wishing you a wonderful Christmas and New Years shared with those in your “bubble.”

  11. Absolutely stunning! I love reading your blogs…I always come away with some kind of idea, inspiration or something new I’ve learned. This entryway is gorgeous! Thank you for sharing. Happy Holidays!

  12. Your blog is such a delight all through the year. So much constant joy. You really have outdone yourself with your Christmas decor through your home. Thank you for all you do to make your readers have a happy experience each day. Happy holidays to you and I look forward to the best blog to keep reading in 2021. Cheers!
