I’ve had appetizers on the brain recently. Which, to be honest, is not surprising since appetizers and desserts are two of my favorite things.

One of my favorite appetizer recipes is these Artichoke Wonton Wrappers that I shared years ago here on Inspired by Charm. They are a recipe my mom used to make on Christmas Eve and I still love them to this day.

The making and sharing of that artichoke wonton recipe inspired me to use the concept of wonton wrappers to make little cups and in turn create these Sausage Wonton Bites. They are packed with flavor!

Today it is time for round three as I am going to share these Chicken Bacon Ranch Wonton Cups. As I mentioned above, I love the combination of chicken, bacon, and ranch so I knew this would be another flavorful way to use these wonton wrappers.

Spoiler alert: I was right. So much so that I ended up eating all of these for dinner and couldn’t have been happier about it. SO GOOD!

You might be wondering …

What are Wonton Wrappers?

As stated earlier, I’ve used these wonton wrappers a few other times here on IBC, so you might be curious as to what they are. Well, wontons are essentially just thin square-shaped egg noodles that are typically filled with meat or veggies. They are kind of like a Chinese version of ravioli.

In fact, one of these days, I want to use them to make ravioli. Since you can purchase these wrappers in the store, it takes the hassle out of making pasta. You can’t beat that!

I love using them in this application as well. As you can see, they make adorable and crispy little shells that can be filled with whatever you’d like. In this case, I’m using chicken, bacon, ranch, veggies, and spices.

They create such a beautiful presentation and pack a mouthful of delicious flavors.

Wonton Tip:

Pressing the wonton wrappers into the mini muffin pans can be a bit tricky, so please reference the image below.

If you attempt to just press the wonton wrapper into the cup, it’s going to tear. You want to pinch the wrapper together into the flower shape shown above, insert it into the baking cup, and then gently press it into place. With this method, I had no tears.

Now that you’ve had your little food lesson for today, let’s whip up these Chicken Bacon Ranch Wonton Cups!

  1. Garnish with a dollop of Buttermilk Ranch Heluva Good! Dip and chopped parsley.
  2. Serve immediately.

Recipe Notes:

I found it easiest to add the garnish of ranch dip by using a piping bag (or plastic baggie with the corner cut off). This method is much easier than portioning it off with a spoon.

If you don’t have access to Buttermilk Ranch Heluva Good! Dip you can make your own. Combine 1 cup sour cream, 1/2 cup mayonnaise, and about 1.5 tablespoons of ranch seasoning mix. Stir to combine.

  1. I was asked to bring an appetizer to a dinner to which we had been invited. I needed a “lighter” appetizer as the main entree was to be lasagna. I saw this recipe and thought it would be perfect. Our local supermarket did not carry wonton wrappers, and I was unable to get to the Chinese market during the week. I used phyllo cups in place of the wonton wrappers. These appetizers were a big hit! Thank you for a delicious recipe!
