It has been a while since I’ve shared my front porch decor with you. Why? Well, to be honest, the front porch isn’t the favorite part of my home. It’s a bit rough around the edges, rather small, and a little dated. But then again, don’t we all have spaces in our home or things about our home that we want to change or improve upon? Even so, we can and should celebrate and decorate these spaces, too.

Well, when my Seasons of Home blogger friends and I decided that we should share our fall porch decor, I chose to do what I could with what I have and turn my not-so-favorite-space into one that I would love and be proud to share.

With all of that being said, if you’re looking for some fall porch decor inspiration, you’ve come to the right place. Once you are finished here, I’ve linked up seven of my talented blogger friends below! You’re definitely going to want to see how they’ve created a welcoming outdoor space for the season.

Without keeping you waiting any longer, here’s a tour of my little fall front porch decor!

My Fall Front Porch Decor

As you might have guessed, pumpkins and mums were the inspiration for my decor. However, I did add a few other touches to make it my own. It’s classic with a twist.

One thing I was really excited to find was this large birdhouse with a steeply peaked roof. I suppose that a birdhouse isn’t really “fall,” but I just loved it and that’s all that matters! To tie it in with my decor, I painted the roof a burgundy color (it was previously green) and added a small grapevine wreath to the front.

I also swapped out my doormat for this one I found at Target. I love the “Happy Fall Y’all” saying and the bold pop of orange color. I layered it on top of this black and white buffalo check rug. I don’t know about you, but I’m really into the layered doormat look. It’s so inviting.

I also opted to add a new wreath to my front door. This is the Country Fields Wreath from Balsam Hill. I specifically chose this one because of it’s bright and bold colors. A lot of wreaths tend to blend in with my black door. This one stands out beautifully. It’s even visible from the road.

I also used this wreath as my color palette when I was selecting my mums and pumpkins.

Speaking of mums, I always like to tuck them into some sort of basket, urn, or planter. For my front porch decor I used a few different vessels. The burgundy mums are in some bushel baskets I picked up at the flea market, the large orange mum is in a large crock I found at an antique store, and the small orange mum is in a taller bushel-style basket I found at an antique store. Hiding those black or green plastic pots that most mums come in makes such a big difference – wouldn’t you agree?

With my mums in place, I scattered around a bunch of pumpkins, tied some cornstalks to my porch posts, and added a coordinating throw to my bench. Color, comfort, unique touches, pumpkins and mums: the recipe to a welcoming and cozy porch. I’d say this space is complete!

All in all, I think my front porch decor came together beautifully. While there are still bigger changes I want to make to this porch over time, adding some beautiful, colorful, and seasonal decor in the meantime is definitely helping me love this space a whole lot more.

I hope my porch decorating has inspired and motivated you. Whether your front porch decor needs a little love or another space in your home needs some sprucing up until that larger renovation can happen, you can make any space look beautiful with a few simple touches.

    1. Mine stays outside all year. During the spring, summer, and fall I have plant in it. In the winter I fill it with evergreens and sticks / firewood.

  1. Beautiful touches that really say fall. What do you do in bad weather..do you take in the blanket, mats, and wreath? I find that my front door mat get water logged and my front door wreath wears quite a bit and have to be replaced when exposed to rain, sleet, and possible snow here in New Jersey in the fall.

  2. Thanks for the great ideas and keeping it real! My front “porch” is even smaller and more dated than yours:) Now I feel inspired to decorate it for Fall, even though it is not my favorite. Celebrating the imperfections of life does make it sweeter!

  3. ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR “OUTDATED” PORCH!! I LOVE CHARACTER–AND YOUR PORCH HAS IT ❤
YOU CAME THROUGH AS USUAL—NO QUESTION ABOUT IT MR MICHAEL!!

  4. Michael,
No need to apologize for your “less than ideal” front porch. Many of us have small porches and are always looking for ways to style small spaces like this. Missed this post from last year but oh so happy to find it through today’s post. Thanks for the inspiration!

  5. This looks beautiful, Michael! I’m anxious to get started on our front entry area. One question…can you tell me how you care for the mums? I never have good luck with them and don’t know why.

Omg your porch is gorgeous! I love the way you layer things together.

I found your site when looking for Christmas tree ideas. I just bought my first house and look forward to decorating it.

    Thanks for sharing your talent!

  7. Your porch is absolutely perfect! The mix of colors, that amazing birdhouse, the collection of pumpkins and your wreath ~ everything comes together so wonderfully! Our porch bench is so beautiful as well. Thank you for sharing your lovely and inviting porch! You are always so inspiring. Have a blessed weekend!

  8. This is perfection with the juxtaposition of rounded mums and boxwood and colors playing off the wreath. Thank you for this feel of fall, Micheal.

    Diney on Camano Island,

  9. I’m sorry to hear about your Frankie being gone for two weeks. I know exactly how awful that is. Our Louie got out and went missing once and I was frantic. Here’s the thing I wanted to share, he was hiding under our shed in the back yard. I searched throughout the neighborhood and put up signs in town and at the vet. All the while he was on our property. I don’t know if he was there the whole time, but I’m pretty sure he never left our property. Just maybe there is somewhere on your property he is hiding. ❤️Sending you all the good vibes and prayers that you find him soon. ❤️❤️❤️

    1. Thank you so much. Yes, I’ve searched my yard multiple times. I wish I knew where he was spending his days, but haven’t figured that out yet. He seems to explore at night. I just hope he keeps coming back here.
