Ingredients

This dessert dip is so simple to make; plus, you only need a handful of ingredients to put it together. Here’s what you will need:

  • Cream Cheese: The star of the show, cream cheese provides a rich, creamy base that’s both tangy and smooth, making it the perfect foundation for our dip. (You can use light cream cheese if you want to save some calories.)
  • Brown Sugar: This adds a deep, caramel-like sweetness, bringing a lovely warmth and depth to the overall flavor profile of the dip.
  • Powdered Sugar: It’s not just for sweetness; powdered sugar gives our dip a smoother texture, ensuring it is luxuriously spreadable and silky.
  • Molasses: A touch of molasses brings in a unique, robust flavor – think hints of smoky, bittersweet goodness that beautifully complement the spices.
  • Spices (Ground Ginger, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Cloves): This quartet of spices is what makes gingerbread gingerbread! They infuse the dip with a cozy, spiced flavor that’s both comforting and tantalizing.
  • Freshly Whipped Cream or Cool Whip: This is the fluff factor! Whether you go homemade or store-bought, this ingredient lightens the dip, adding a cloud-like, airy texture. I highly recommend homemade. Check out my homemade whipped cream recipe. It’s easier than you think!
  • Cinnamon Graham Crackers and/or Gingersnap Cookies: Perfect for dipping, these add a delightful crunch and extra flavor contrast, making each bite a perfect harmony of textures and tastes. The cinnamon graham crackers were my go-to for this dip.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use low-fat cream cheese for this recipe?

Absolutely! Low-fat cream cheese works well if you’re looking for a lighter version. Just keep in mind it might slightly alter the texture and taste.

Can I make this dip ahead of time?

Yes, it’s a great make-ahead option! Prepare it a day or two in advance, and it’ll be ready to serve whenever you need it.

Can I freeze this dip?

Freezing is not recommended as it can affect the texture of the cream cheese and whipped cream, making it less creamy once thawed.

What are some other serving ideas besides graham crackers and gingersnaps?

Feel free to get creative! Apple slices, vanilla wafers, pretzels, or even shortbread cookies make great dippers.
