Here on Inspired by Charm, we’ve created all sorts of unique charcuterie displays—including charcuterie cups (and a festive Christmas version), jarcuteries, a snacklebox, a charcuterie wreath, and more!

Recently, I put together a magical, colorful, and delicious afternoon tea. I love serving snack-style bites for occasions like this, so a charcuterie felt like the perfect fit. However, I wanted to take things up a notch and match the charm and whimsy of the event. That’s when it hit me: Why not create individual charcuterie servings in teacups?

I gathered some of my favorite charcuterie goodies—cured meats, specialty cheeses, fruits, nuts, olives, and more—and assembled these delightful CharCUPeries.

Fun, unique, colorful, and whimsical: I couldn’t be more pleased with how they turned out. I think you too love this idea. I hope it inspires you to create your own version for your next celebration!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • These CharCUPeries are a charming and unexpected twist on a classic charcuterie board. Served in delicate teacups, they instantly add whimsy and personality to your spread. Whether you’re hosting an afternoon tea, bridal shower, or spring gathering, they bring something special to the table that guests will remember.
  • They’re easy to assemble and endlessly customizable. Use your favorite cured meats, cheeses, fruits, and snacks to create a cup that’s completely your own. You can lean into seasonal ingredients or build a theme around your event—there’s no wrong way to do it.
  • Because each one is individually portioned, they make serving and cleanup a breeze. No more hovering over a shared board or worrying about how to keep things looking tidy. Guests can simply pick up a teacup charcuterie and enjoy it, making these beautiful and practical.
  • This is the kind of recipe that feels as fun to make as it is to serve. It’s creative and colorful and gives you the chance to play with flavors and presentation in a fresh new way. The teacups add a vintage-inspired charm that works beautifully for spring and beyond.

Ingredients

It’s time to gather the ingredients you’ll need to make these CharCUPeries. I’ll walk you through the ingredients I used below. However, feel free to choose whatever ingredients you like best.

  • Cheese – Use a mix of textures and flavors such as cubes of cheddar, rolled goat cheese, or wedges of brie to add variety and richness.
  • Cured meats – Salami, prosciutto, or pepperoni slices work beautifully and can be folded or rolled for visual interest and easy snacking.
  • Fresh berries – Raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries add a bright pop of color and a touch of natural sweetness.
  • Grapes – Red or green seedless grapes are a classic charcuterie choice and help create structure and volume in each cup.
  • Olives – Choose pitted olives in a mix of colors or flavors to add a briny contrast that pairs well with cheeses and meats.
  • Nuts – Almonds, pistachios, or walnuts add crunch and richness—just be sure to note any allergies if you’re serving a crowd.
  • Crackers or crispbread – Long and narrow crackers work best for fitting into the teacups and adding vertical height.
  • Fresh herbs or edible flowers – A sprig of rosemary or a few chamomile blossoms add a pretty finishing touch and a bit of garden charm.

You’ll also need a couple of other key supplies:

  • Teacups and saucers – You can use what you have on hand, but I highly recommend checking your local thrift stores for the best deals and most unique finds. Stores like HomeGoods and T.J.Maxx are also great spots for colorful and charming teacups that will make each CharCUPerie feel extra special.
  • Cocktail picks, toothpicks, or mini forks – These are perfect for skewering meats, cheeses, and other ingredients so they stand tall and create that layered look in the cup. Look for decorative or gold-toned options for a little added flair.

How To Make

Now it’s time to assemble our CharCUPeries. I’ll walk you through the steps below. I’ve also provided a full ingredient list and detailed instructions in the printable recipe card below.

  1. Begin by adding a layer of grapes and nuts to the bottom of each teacup. This helps anchor everything and gives a solid base for building up your ingredients. If you’d prefer to include a small portion of dip instead, that can be added here in place of the base layer.

  1. Nestle the crackers toward the back or side of each cup so they peek out and create some height. Choose longer, more narrow styles that won’t overpower the size of the cup.
  2. Use decorative toothpicks or cocktail picks to assemble a mix of meats, cheeses, olives, fruits, or whatever else you’d like to showcase. Mini forks also work well for presenting cheese cubes or rolled items you want to feature on their own.

  3. Finish each CharCUPerie with a sprig of fresh herbs or a few edible flowers. This little touch adds elegance and ties everything together beautifully.

And with that, these teacup charcuteries are complete and ready to serve! These might be my favorite charcuterie yet. They’re elegant, whimsical, and completely customizable!

I think the charm comes from the teacups. They add a vintage-inspired detail that makes each serving feel personal and thoughtfully put together.

Variations

One of the best parts about creating CharCUPeries is how flexible and fun they are to personalize. Whether you’re planning around a season, occasion, or color scheme, there are endless ways to make them your own. Here are a few ideas to inspire your next teacup creation:

  • Brunch CharCUPerie – Perfect for a morning or midday gathering, fill your teacups with things like mini pancakes or waffles (cut into small pieces), slices of bacon or sausage, fresh fruit, and a tiny container of maple syrup. Add a skewer of melon and prosciutto or a bite-sized quiche for a little extra charm.
  • Spring Garden Theme – Focus on bright colors and fresh produce like snap peas, radishes, baby carrots, and edible flowers. Include soft cheeses like herbed goat cheese and pair it with a light, seedy cracker. Fresh herbs like dill and mint make beautiful garnishes here.
  • Cheese Lover’s Cup – Skip the meats and go all in on cheeses. Use a mix of aged, soft, and flavored cheeses, and add nuts and dried fruits like apricots or figs. include a drizzle of honey or a mini honey dipper for a sweet finishing touch.
  • Holiday Theme – You can adapt these for holidays too! Think red and green for Christmas (with cranberries, rosemary, and red grapes), pastels for Easter, or even pinks and reds for a Valentine’s Day tea. Use themed picks or garnishes to tie it all together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make these vegetarian or accommodate dietary restrictions?

Absolutely. These are so customizable, which is one of the best things about them. Skip the meats for a vegetarian version, swap nuts for seeds if needed, or add gluten-free crackers depending on your guests’ needs.

What size teacups work best?

Standard-size teacups (about 6–8 ounces) work well and give you enough room to layer a nice variety of ingredients. If you have smaller demitasse cups, you can still make it work—just scale back the ingredients and keep things more minimal.

How do I serve dips or spreads in a CharCUPerie?

If you’d like to include a dip, place a small spoonful in the bottom of the cup before layering in the rest of the ingredients. Just keep in mind that less is more; you don’t want the dip to overpower the rest of the elements or make things messy.
