Summer Home Tour 2014
This Post May Contain Affiliate Links. Please Read Our Disclosure PolicyHello, everyone! This is the first time I’ve ever participated in a blogger home tour series, and I couldn’t be more excited If you are stopping over from The Hunted Interior, welcome! Isn’t Kristin’s home fabulous? I am majorly in love with her outdoor space.
Gina of Shabby Creek Cottage is graciously hosting the 2014 Summer Tour of Homes. You can check out this post for links to the 25 bloggers who are participating in the series. Start there, and each blogger will guide you to the next person on the tour.
But before you do that, now that you’re here, you might as well have a look around my abode. Because I’m weird and the upstairs of my house is in a bit of a transition (meaning it’s a hot mess), we are going to stay on the first floor for this summer house tour. Sound good? Over the past year, there have been a lot of changes in my little house. For those of you who are new to Inspired by Charm, my house previously functioned as a Bed and Breakfast and Gift Shop. About a year and half ago, I closed my B&B and turned this big old 100-year-old house into my home.
This is going to be a photo tour so I will be brief with my words and let the photos do the talking. I will link up any relevant posts below the questions for more information and / or tutorials. If you have any other questions, please leave a comments and I will do my best to answer them.
Enjoy the tour and stay as long as you like. I’ll put on some coffee or pour a cocktail.

Well, I certainly hope you enjoyed looking around today! Hopefully, on the next tour, I can get things together and take you upstairs where all the magic (or lack thereof) happens! Looking at the pictures, I’m reminded how much this house has evolved over the years. I am filled with a sense of pride, but also realize there are so many things to improve and lots of projects left to complete.
Now, don’t let the fun stop here. As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, there are 25 bloggers participating in this tour so go check them all out (links below). I sort of feel like a schlub when I compare my home to theirs. For me, it’s just an honor to be included in the tour.
If you are following this tour in order, next up is the uber-talented Jennifer Rizzo. I’m excited to see her happy space all ready for summer!
Thank you again for visiting. I’ll post the full list of bloggers below to make things super easy for you.

Love your home! Where are your living room rug and poufs from? I am trying to update our space and love them! Thank you for the inspiration 🙂
Thanks! They were from Target a few years ago.

Micheal, I nearly cried for joy when I saw your beautiful home. You have the exact wood flooring and the perfect, pale aqua paint color that I’ve been looking for. I’ve been living with a plywood sub floor for three years while I look for the right flooring. I’d be so appreciative if you would share the paint color and tell me the name of your floor and where I could purchase it. Thank you in advance.
Tristan – thank you so much! My floors are original to the house and my house is 100 years old, so I honestly don’t know the name or where to purchase. All I know is that they are oak wood floors. All of my paint colors can be found here: https://inspiredbycharm.com/2014/07/inspired-by-charm-paint-colors.html
Thanks again! Hope that helps.

Your home is such a breath of fresh air! It is happy, unique, and oh, so cozy. You have quite a talent:)
Love everything! Those poufs would be perfect for my living room. Can you tell me where you got them? Thank you!!
Michael, I don’t know if you already mentioned where you got your living room rug, but it’s amazing! Do you mind sharing? Thanks!
Julie – it’s from CB2.com However, they aren’t currently selling it.

So beautiful! I know this is a little late, but could you please tell me where you found your table and chairs? I’ve been searching for something similar.
Thank you!
Tera
Of course! The table is from Pottery Barn (Sumner Dining Table) and the chairs are from Overstock (search black wishbone chair).

Thank you!! Love your gorgeous house so much!
WOWOWOWOWOWOW! I just found your blog via thehandmadehome.net and there is NO BETTER GIFT on a Monday morning (procrastinating work) than seeing such incredibly inspiring and colorful home decor. I am so happy I found you! We are in the process of a living room/office makeover, and I am going to use your pics as inspiration. You are awesome and I am feeling so happy right now!
If ever I can gift you a print from my store to add to your amazing art collection, I would be truly honored. Or, perhaps a pillow from my society6 store? http://www.society6.com/printsbypoppymae
Have a great day!
Your entire home makes me smile. So lovely and welcoming. Is the wall the fireplace on also the Aloof Gray by Sherwin?
Hi Michael,
Love your decor! I’m currently tackling my 1942 home room by room and seems we have very similar style. I like to call my style “personally eclectic” 🙂
Just wondering where you purchased your light bulb chandelier in your hall?
Thanks so much!

Adore EVERYTHING about your home! I’m due in January with my first baby girl and the poufs in your living room would be fabulous for her nursery! Where can I find them?!

Hi Micheal, I’m thrilled that I found your blog! Your house is absolutely gorgeous and has so much character. I was in awe going through your summer home tour. You have so many awesome vintage finds and I just love how you mix all the fun patterns and colors together. So much great inspiration! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful home! Katie
Thank you so much Katie!!

I love absolutely everything in your home! (I literally can find nothing that didn’t make me smile.) I would move in today if you’d let me. (I don’t think my family would like to see me leave though, haha.) I want to ask about your living room though. I love the rug and the soft seating. From where are those?
Thanks so much Faith! What a wonderful compliment. 🙂
The rug is from CB2.com and the couch is from WestElm.com.

Things look great! I love the white barstools. Please tell me you found them somewhere online! I have been looking for simple, classic spindled bar stools for so long. Thanks so much!
Lisa, they are actually vintage stools I picked up for $8 a piece. I then painted them with a high gloss paint. More info here: https://inspiredbycharm.com/2013/11/a-fresh-new-look-for-my-bar-stools.html

I am about to drop a large portion of my paycheck on the cb2 triangle rug you have in your living room. Do you mind me asking how it is holding up? The reviews are really mixed online but I adore the pattern. Thank you so much! Your house is amazing!
Michael, can you tell me where you get the miniatures that you have in your potted plants? Adorable 🙂
This home is lovely! Could you tell me where the large colorful living room rug came from?
Hi Michael! I have loved your home over the years since the beginning of the blog and this new look is so fresh and airy! I adore how it is infused with homemade and diy goodness! Cheers!

I was wondering if you could tell me where that amazing carpet in the living room is from? I’m super inspired by your use of colors and patterns for the nursery im planning.
Thanks!
Jenn
Love your home. Could you share where you got the 10-globe, multi length light that is in your foyer? I would just LOVE one for my mudroom!
