Summer Home Tour 2014
This Post May Contain Affiliate Links. Please Read Our Disclosure PolicyHello, everyone! This is the first time I’ve ever participated in a blogger home tour series, and I couldn’t be more excited If you are stopping over from The Hunted Interior, welcome! Isn’t Kristin’s home fabulous? I am majorly in love with her outdoor space.
Gina of Shabby Creek Cottage is graciously hosting the 2014 Summer Tour of Homes. You can check out this post for links to the 25 bloggers who are participating in the series. Start there, and each blogger will guide you to the next person on the tour.
But before you do that, now that you’re here, you might as well have a look around my abode. Because I’m weird and the upstairs of my house is in a bit of a transition (meaning it’s a hot mess), we are going to stay on the first floor for this summer house tour. Sound good? Over the past year, there have been a lot of changes in my little house. For those of you who are new to Inspired by Charm, my house previously functioned as a Bed and Breakfast and Gift Shop. About a year and half ago, I closed my B&B and turned this big old 100-year-old house into my home.
This is going to be a photo tour so I will be brief with my words and let the photos do the talking. I will link up any relevant posts below the questions for more information and / or tutorials. If you have any other questions, please leave a comments and I will do my best to answer them.
Enjoy the tour and stay as long as you like. I’ll put on some coffee or pour a cocktail.

Well, I certainly hope you enjoyed looking around today! Hopefully, on the next tour, I can get things together and take you upstairs where all the magic (or lack thereof) happens! Looking at the pictures, I’m reminded how much this house has evolved over the years. I am filled with a sense of pride, but also realize there are so many things to improve and lots of projects left to complete.
Now, don’t let the fun stop here. As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, there are 25 bloggers participating in this tour so go check them all out (links below). I sort of feel like a schlub when I compare my home to theirs. For me, it’s just an honor to be included in the tour.
If you are following this tour in order, next up is the uber-talented Jennifer Rizzo. I’m excited to see her happy space all ready for summer!
Thank you again for visiting. I’ll post the full list of bloggers below to make things super easy for you.

Michael,, your home is gorgeous! So light and bright and HAPPY! Please can you tell me , how do you hang your plates?
Hi Michael,
I love absolutely everything about your home! It is simply beautiful, and I’m very inspired! Would you mind terribly sharing the color for the walls in your gorgeous dining room?
Thank you!
Josie
Of course! They are Dior Gray from Benjamin Moore. 🙂

I love your summer home tour. Your home is so warm and inviting. The living room is so bright and refreshing, it feels like summer. Thank you for sharing.
Where did you buy your dining room curtains? Would like something like that in navy for my dining room.
Oh my goodness, I love that pig planter. Does anyone know where I could get it.
All of the pictures were beautiful! My favorite part was the living room. Can you tell me where the colorful rug comes from?
Swooon, Swoon, SAwooon! Thanks for sharing
Nice home interior designing and interior furnishing!
I am just going to second every compliment you have gotten so far! Your house is so crazy good! It looks like it took you 100 years to add all of those carefully thought out layers and the best part is I know you place those vignettes in your sleep…that’s having “the eye”. I love the minty paint color in your office- what is it??
LOVE IT. Your home is so “you,” love seeing it all together.
Wow! Amazingly beautiful … Love every detail, and touches of color. Very inspiring!
You make me want to go buy a bunch of colorful accessories right now. I lean far to often to neutrals. Your home makes me smile.
Love the paint colors! Your home is so cozy & comfy looking; I think I am in love with your patio, though!!! Love the red.
Sorry, don’t know why I jumped to the conclusion you were in Canada. Came back today for another look around, anyway! Could you do a post on your paint colours? I would love to have it ll in one place! Thanks.
No problem Alana! Haha.
Yes! I’m working on putting a post like that together. It should be up soon!

I just love every picture and every little corner. Your pics are always so fantastic. I know it has been a labor of love but you have done such an amazing job. I am always intrigued by your clear acrylic entry table. I would never have thought to place that there and it just works so well. Thanks for sharing the tour with us! xo
this home looks wonderful! some of the elements are not quite my style, but overall it looks wonderful. And may I please know where the living room rug came from? I NEED it in my life! Pretty Please?
Thank you Stephanie!! The rug is from CB2.com 🙂
xo Michael
Oh that rug!!! I just searched high and low for one just like it and it’s not available anymore! We just renovated a 1905 2-story farmhouse and this rug is PERFECT for our family room. So sad I can’t find it anywhere 🙁 If you ever decide you don’t want it, I’d buy it from you!! I’m serious! It’s beautiful!!
Your whole house is just lovely!!
Hey Michelle! It was from CB2.com – and yes, unfortunately it’s no longer for sale. Thanks for all the love.

Is it too late to comment? I have so many questions about this BEAUTIFUL home that I found on Pinterest. Can you please share where you purchased that great white mirror on the mantle? And where are those open white tall bookcases from? And finally, I am in love with the green and white bulletin board….where is that from?? THANK YOU!! Love you home so much. -jennifer
Jennifer – it’s never to late to ask a question.
The mirror was from the Jonathan Alder collection at JCPenney. I’m not sure if it’s still available. The bookcases are from CB2.com – they are still available. The bulletin board was a DIY. You can read more about that here: https://inspiredbycharm.com/2013/11/diy-colorful-bulletin-board.html

Love, love your home, Michael! Every room is filled with warmth and charm!
The first time ever? I think you should do more house tour series because your house is total eye candy. I could look at it over and over again and as a fellow cat lover I totally need that cat on your mantel. Love it so much. Did you find it thrifting?
Awww! You are so sweet Julia! Thanks. Maybe I’ll have to do more. Everyone seems to have enjoyed this. Yes, the cat is solid brass. I found it at a thrift shop in Portland, Oregon last fall. Isn’t in the best!?
xo Michael
Yes, it is the best! And probably double functions as a weapon 😉
Gah!!! Jesus didn’t give me the spiritual gift of home decorating, even though that’s the one I wanted the most. And since I accidentally found your blog through this whole fun, summer house tour thing that’s going on… I’ve come to realize that your style is also my style. So come on over for a cup of coffee, and I would be more than happy to let you use my house as a guinea pig in a complete Redecorating-palooza! Now THAT could be a blog party, huh?! You can show BEFORE snapshots of my house, with mismatched throw pillows that would send HGTV hosts into shock, and then you could work your magic and show AFTER pictures, where the HGTV crew sighs in happiness. Your house is adorable… and I might just covet all the CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN, because we have a two-year-old son and a thirteen-year-old son… enough said there on the condition of our floors and bathrooms!
Hahaha! It sounds like you have it all figured out! And I really appreciate that you love my style. Sometimes I question my decisions, so I appreciate that someone else appreciates it. 🙂
Thanks!!
xo Michael
Love X 100!!! As always, it’s fantabulous. Lisa~
Thank you so much!!
