Happy Cinco de Mayo, friends! I hope you had a fabulous weekend. It was a little rainy and chilly around here, so I decided to spend most of the weekend inside completing a couple projects. If you remember, a few weeks ago I got three new entry doors installed in my house.

One of those doors was my front door. As you walk in that door, there is a small entryway between my office and dining room. Last year I had a leak in the bathroom above this space. When I painted the office, I was able to fix most of the issues, but this little entryway needed some love as well. I was going to paint it when I painted the office, but decided against that since I assumed the molding around the front door would be disturbed when the new door was installed. Long story short, I finally got this area painted.

While it’s not a huge space, it actually took most of Sunday. All of the trim, ceiling, and walls got a fresh coat!

Initially, I had planned to paint the walls the same color as the office, Aloof Gray. After giving it some more thought, I decided I needed to bring some color back into my life.

I’m not sure how I got there, but Banana Cream from Sherwin Williams was the winner. Fun fact: this is actually a lighter version of the color my dining room used to be before going gray.

As of right now, I really like the color, however I do not love it. Yet. I was hoping the current accessories would work with the new color, but they just aren’t doing it for me. I’m thinking about switching things around and going with a yellow, navy, and teal color scheme.

However, what I do love about the color is that it’s so welcoming and cheery for an entry. I always hated this space because it was dark and dreary. Now it’s so sunny and happiness inducing. Especially when you first walk into the space. Ultimately, I think the color will work. If not, I’ll try something else.

I’m now on the hunt for some front door decor. (As much as I love my bunny wreath, it’s no longer Easter.) I’m actually struggling with what to put on the front door. I want something unique and colorful. Any suggestions or sources?

This space also lacks any sort of light. Today I’m working up a little DIY fixture and, if all goes well, I’ll be sharing that on the blog tomorrow.

What do you think of the new color?

I love the new color! I have to admit though, I am a sucker for any yellow. I just love the way it cheers up a space.

Love your new front entry. As for your gorgeous front door, it truly needs no adornment.

Love the yellow. It is cheery and bright. Looks great with grey also. I am a yellow girl though.

I love the new color! It’s so cheery.
Can I ask how you hung the bunny wreath? I have a glass front door too and I haven’t been able to figure out how to hang anything on it so that it will stay.

Carrie – I just used a large suction cup. Normally I have terrible luck with them, but this one seems to be sticking.

I found an oval shaped grapevine wreath at michaels and attached different types of moss (also from Michaels) on it. It’s very organic looking and smells wonderful. I used a large suction cup with a hook that’s actually designed to hold wreaths, that was purchased at Walmart last Christmas season.

I love the color! it makes me think of banana pudding 🙂 it’s so happy! and if walking into your house doesn’t give you a sense of cheer, something is wrong. I’m also totally digging the bunny wreath! 🙂

How about a wood 3 letter monogram for your front door?

Where is that overhead light fixture from? I love it!

Where is the light fixture from in the entry/foyer? I absolutely love it!!

I LOVE that yellow in the entry way. I’m actually really jealous. We just painted our kitchen and I really wanted a yellow, but I couldn’t find that I loved. They were either too yellow – like BAM, or not yellow enough that it looked white. We ended up going with a light green (that I really do like), but I wish I knew this yellow existed. SIGH! Maybe in my next house. :]

I love all the color but what I really want to know is where you got that great chandelier? I have been on the hunt for our entry way and that is just the right mix of tastes for us. Dying to know. Love the makeover.

Hey there! It was from Pottery Barn about 8 years ago. I’m not sure they sell it anymore. Hope that helps.
