A couple weeks ago I wrote an article about hosting a fall cocktail party. To be honest, other than pumpkin beer (which I can’t get enough of), I find it hard to create cocktails for the fall. So I challenged myself to come up with a few unique recipes. After testing out several recipes, I think I’ve come up with two winners. One was for pear sangria; the other was a Caramel Apple Pie Martini.
While the pear sangria was perfectly delicious and refreshing for the fall, there was something magical about the martini. It almost felt as if I’d discovered sliced bread. Because of that, it deserved its own post here on IBC.
After working diligently on making my entire home photograph-ready for this year’s Fall Home Tour (Thank you SO much for all of your amazingly sweet comments. They are sitting in a warm spot in my heart.), I thought we could all use a martini.
Let me talk you through this a little bit, and then we will get to the recipe.
First, this is much more than a martini. It’s actually dessert in a glass (with alcohol of course). It’s like drinking a slice of fresh-baked apple pie with a big ol’ scoop of vanilla ice cream.
To start off, I rimmed the glass in caramel and then in crushed graham crackers. It adds such wonderful flavor and an unexpected crunch.
The other ingredients, while not bar staples, are totally awesome and I highly recommend adding them to your collection. Kissed Caramel Vodka is one of my favorites for this time of year. I especially love it in my Caramel Apple Cider Martini. Also, the Velvet Cinn Horchata is pure bliss. It brings great spice to creamy cocktails. In addition, I used Apple Pie Vodka. If you can’t find it, an apple vodka will work just as nicely.
And that’s it. With a little half & half, some ice, and a quick shake, you have a delicious martini fit for fall!
I hope you like this recipe and give it a try. Also, I’m curious about what cocktails you love most in the fall. Please let me know in the comments. Maybe I can give some a try. Cheers!
Here's what you'll need:
2 ounces apple pie vodka
1 ounce kissed caramel vodka
1 ounce Velvet Cinn Horchata
1 ounce half & half
Caramel sauce and crushed graham crackers for garnish
sprinkle of cinnamon (optional)
Rim a martini glass with caramel sauce; then dip the glass in crushed graham crackers. Set aside.
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine both vodkas, horchata, and half & half. Shake vigorously and pour into prepared martini glass. Add a sprinkle of cinnamon to the top.
