Summer Home Tour 2014
This Post May Contain Affiliate Links. Please Read Our Disclosure PolicyHello, everyone! This is the first time I’ve ever participated in a blogger home tour series, and I couldn’t be more excited If you are stopping over from The Hunted Interior, welcome! Isn’t Kristin’s home fabulous? I am majorly in love with her outdoor space.
Gina of Shabby Creek Cottage is graciously hosting the 2014 Summer Tour of Homes. You can check out this post for links to the 25 bloggers who are participating in the series. Start there, and each blogger will guide you to the next person on the tour.
But before you do that, now that you’re here, you might as well have a look around my abode. Because I’m weird and the upstairs of my house is in a bit of a transition (meaning it’s a hot mess), we are going to stay on the first floor for this summer house tour. Sound good? Over the past year, there have been a lot of changes in my little house. For those of you who are new to Inspired by Charm, my house previously functioned as a Bed and Breakfast and Gift Shop. About a year and half ago, I closed my B&B and turned this big old 100-year-old house into my home.
This is going to be a photo tour so I will be brief with my words and let the photos do the talking. I will link up any relevant posts below the questions for more information and / or tutorials. If you have any other questions, please leave a comments and I will do my best to answer them.
Enjoy the tour and stay as long as you like. I’ll put on some coffee or pour a cocktail.

Well, I certainly hope you enjoyed looking around today! Hopefully, on the next tour, I can get things together and take you upstairs where all the magic (or lack thereof) happens! Looking at the pictures, I’m reminded how much this house has evolved over the years. I am filled with a sense of pride, but also realize there are so many things to improve and lots of projects left to complete.
Now, don’t let the fun stop here. As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, there are 25 bloggers participating in this tour so go check them all out (links below). I sort of feel like a schlub when I compare my home to theirs. For me, it’s just an honor to be included in the tour.
If you are following this tour in order, next up is the uber-talented Jennifer Rizzo. I’m excited to see her happy space all ready for summer!
Thank you again for visiting. I’ll post the full list of bloggers below to make things super easy for you.

your home is so wonderful, i’m speechless! looks like the pages of the magazine! yet it feels so cosy and warm at the same time… truly in love with this space! well done, Michael, you’re such an inspiration to all of us!
Oh goodness. Thank you so much for participating in Gina’s home tour. I’m looking back a bit through your archives–and you are a fellow Canadian? Hooray! The web needs more of us. You and I are kindred spirits, I think. I love the same mix of modern and traditional, colour and white space. But you, sir, are fabulous–I’m just bumbling along! So glad to have found you and your blog, I cannot tell you.
HI Micheal,
I adore your home! I love how you mix old and new, the industrial and rustic and modern prints. I am a HUGE sucker for all of your architecture and the way you have your home laid out. I always loved your living room, but I really loved your entire home tour!
I never tire of looking at your fabulous house. I can’t think of one teeny tiny thing I’d change. It is fabulous in every way. Thanks for letting me look around.
Oh I love it all. I especially love your color sense and how you mix patterns and textures. Such a light and bright home.
Your place has never looked better. I’m glad you’re on the tour.
Absolutley fabulous! You sir, are beyond talented.
Lovely pictures of your home! Thank you for sharing! What color is the hallway (acrylic table in front of barndoors) painted? Thanks!!
Hey Terry! I assuming you’re referring to the gray color? It’s Aloof Gray from Sherwin Williams.

Love your home. It is so charming. I was wondering how you hang your plates on the walls. I didn’t notice any plate hangers on them in the dining room. Thanks.
Jan, great question! I used Flatiron Discs Invisible Plate Hangers. I buy them on Amazon.

Love it, Michael! Your use of color and simple design is perfection! Welcome back??!!
BEAUTIFUL! Big old houses are my favorite, and I love how you kept that charm while still infusing some modern fun. I’m pinning a bunch of things right now… 🙂
Absolutely beautiful!!! But I will admit…. I am smitten with the “Trim” … the “hardwood floors”….”the baseboards” … “the doors”.. “the door knobs”… and those “amazing windows” on each side of the fireplace!!! 🙂 I am a sucker for Craftsman style homes anyway…. the way you have preserved the style of the home…. and then the decor!!! Welll… Just love it!!!! Thank you for sharing!!
Gorgeous home! I love the colors, clean line and simplicity!
I’m new to your blog, and you have a marvelous home. I love that you kept the integrity of the home yet it’s still updated for the times. LOVE the crisp clean color palette.
Perfection, love the pops of red. Actually, I love it all!
Debbie
WOW! Love the transformation of your beautiful home. Thanks for the tour. Can’t wait to see the upstairs!
Thanks so much Bev! I can’t wait either! It will be nice to have things finished up and in order. Hope you are well!

Just love it! Your home is cozy, personal, and charming! Love the layering of patterns, textures, mixes of different styles, and your space layout + vignettes. No corners are overlooked and yet the house is not over “styled”. I really enjoy the tour and thanks for lots of inspiration!
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
LOVE your Summer Home tour! Your house & style are amaze balls! Your home is so vibrant & full of life it’s just makes me want to stay for a visit! Great job!!!
