Spring Living Room
This Post May Contain Affiliate Links. Please Read Our Disclosure PolicyWelcome to my Spring Living Room! This year I decided to not do a Spring Home Tour. (You can find all of my past home tours here.) Since I haven’t made many changes around here, I figured I’d hold off on another tour until summer.
However, it’s been a while since I showed you around, so I thought it’d be a good idea to give you a couple room tours leading up to the official summer home tour. Sound good?
Let’s start with the living room. (As always, all of my home’s paint colors can be found here.)
As I said, not a whole lot has changed. Most of the changes are accessory swaps from last fall. As I mentioned during my Holiday Home Tour, I’m trying to incorporate more black accents in this room to tone down the colors. When I found these graphic striped vases, I knew they would look perfect on my mantel. Throw in a gold vase (from my buddy Nate’s collection) and some flowering twigs, and I was in business.
My Beach Bum Terrarium also found a home in the living room for now. (You can learn how I made it here.)
Another big change in this space was replacing my yellow pattern poufs with these gray cable knit ones. I picked them up this past winter, and they are working great in this space. I also like them because they’re a bit sturdier than the previous ones.
Speaking of cushions, I kept the throw pillows the same. I found a pair of gray pillows for a steal at HomeGoods this past winter. And although you wouldn’t think gray pillows would work on a gray sofa, they really do. I love that they add comfort and volume without too much pattern.
I’m also kind of obsessed with this big gold wishbone my mom bought for me. I believe she found it at Boscov’s, which is a department store similar to Macy’s.
Naturally, because it’s spring, I had to tuck in a few fresh flowers here and there Also, since I’m cheap, I picked them up at the grocery store for next to nothing. (Check out this post for my Grocery Store Flowers styling tips.)
Sidenote: See that bowl with the black interior? Yeah, that used to be filled with chocolates. Now it’s just filled with regret.
Another thing I wanted to mention is my rug. MANY of you ask about it here and on social media. I purchased it from CB2 several years ago, and unfortunately they no longer sell it. However, I did notice that West Elm (here and here) and Rugs USA (here) released a few that are very similar in style. The pattern is almost the same; only the coloring is different. These would be great options if you’re looking for something similar.
Also, in case you missed it, I gave my fireplace a quick refresh with paint. I can’t believe what a difference it made. I’m still loving the change, and it’s held up wonderfully. You can read more about that here.
That’s about it. I hope you enjoyed this little Spring Living Room update. With that, Kevin (my moose) and I are signing off for the day. It’s in the mid-70s here in Central PA, and we’re desperate for some sun.
Have a happy and sunny week!
I love that mirror above the mantle. Where did you find that? Thanks
Please tell me the source of the black iron candle holder on your mantel???
I love this look. I need that rug. I don’t see it in the shopping section. Where is it from?
Unfortunately it’s no longer available. It was from CB2.com several years ago.

Hi Michael – Can you share where the rug is from? LR looks great!
It was from CB2.com, but it’s not long being sold.

Loving your grey sectional. Will you share where it’s from? I’ve been eyeing a navy one by just screen snapped yours to my husband and said I could be happy with this too!
It’s the Henry Sectional from West Elm.

hi Michael,
I’m late in discovering your blog and loving it! I have a question: where did the beautiful bowl come from — the one that used to be full of chocolate & is now filled with regret? (funny comment 🙂 That must have been a lot of chocolate!!
Thanks much!
Hi there!! I love your home so much, it feels so fresh and unique! Question…we are about to move into a home with a similar fireplace setup. How do you like having the tv on a console as opposed to over the fireplace? I have been worried about “dueling focal points” but I love it in your space, and the fireplace is still for sure the star.
Michael,
You do an ‘inspired’ job with your blog. Very organized and easy to navigate!
I enjoyed revisiting your kitchen post and am wondering what the story is behind the red shutters with the cutout hanging on the wall?
Thank you so much!! 🙂 There’s no REAL story with them. I found them while antiquing. I thought there were interesting and they filled that spot in my kitchen perfectly.

Love the changes!! Looks great!!
I never noticed before, what does the door go to by your tv with the two deadbolts on it??? Is it like Monica’s closet on Friends?? Lol!
Thanks Erin! That door leads to my stairs and hallway with the gallery wall. Beyond that is my kitchen. If you look at this post: https://inspiredbycharm.com/2015/08/my-kitchen.html it should make more sense.
The reason there are two deadbolts on there is because it used to be the door to a guest bedroom when it was a B&B. This way guests could lock the room from the inside. Unfortunately it’s nothing more exciting like Monica’s closet. Hahaha!

Like a breath of Spring fresh air, Michael. Your living room looks so inviting. Cheers, Ardith
I’d love to know where I can get those black candle sticks from!!
On the mantel? They were from Target this past winter. I’m not sure if they are still available.

Where did you get the big brass kitty? Too cute!
Isn’t he great? He was a vintage find when I was visiting Portland, Oregon.

Always love seeing your beautiful home! LOVE the Beach Burn Terrarium!!
Hi, Michael! I love your style and enjoy your excellent photography! Have you ever given a “tour” of your book collection? I’ve been trying to figure out what books are your shelves from the photos. I’d like to find out about the books you’ve chosen and why. Thanks so much and stay charming!
Michael I was considering changing my wall color to a gray. I wondered if you still like the wall color in your living room. I have a lot of the same colors you do and thought it might be a nice calming color. I do tire easily with paint so I was looking for something that I could keep for a bit
Fabulous! You are the master of styling shelves!
Really like the changes you’ve made. Just enough color to keep it from being boring. Lookin’ good!
Love the changes you made to freshen up your place for spring. I especially love those striped black & white jars!!! I might need a couple of those in my life…
Everything looks lovely and I particularly love the wishbone from your mom, Michael. I laughed so hard when I read the part about your black interior bowl now being filled with regret. Boy, can I identify! Have a wonderful week!
Very beautiful and definitely inspiring!
