You are in for a treat. I had never even heard of Neiman Marcus Dip until a few weeks ago when a friend casually mentioned how delicious and simple it is to make. You know how much we love a good dip recipe around here, so of course I had to give it a try.

After doing a little digging, I realized there are several versions floating around, but the heart of the recipe stays the same. A creamy base, plenty of cheese, crispy bacon, and a little crunch. It comes together quickly too. Even with cooking the bacon, you can have this mixed and chilling in about 15 minutes.

The flavor is what really surprised me. It’s classic in that familiar, comforting way. Every bite reminded me of something I had years ago at a party or family gathering. I still cannot quite place it, but that nostalgic feeling is always a good sign.

And the best part is that it’s easy to adapt. Some versions use shredded Swiss instead of cheddar, others swap in different nuts or add extra seasoning. After you’ve made it once, feel free to play around and make it your own. That’s part of the fun. Speaking of fun, let’s get into all the recipe details so you can give this recipe a go!

Ingredients

It’s time to gather all the ingredients you’ll need to make this easy dip. Here’s everything you’ll need:

  • Bacon – Cooked until crisp and roughly chopped, bacon adds a savory, salty bite that gives this dip so much depth and richness.
  • Mayonnaise – This is the creamy base of the dip, bringing everything together with a smooth texture and classic flavor.
  • Cream Cheese – Softened cream cheese adds body and a subtle tang, helping create that thick, spreadable consistency.
  • Sharp Cheddar Cheese – Freshly shredded sharp cheddar gives the dip bold flavor and just the right amount of cheesy bite.
  • Green Onions – Thinly sliced green onions add freshness and a mild onion flavor that balances the richness of the cheeses.
  • Sliced Almonds – Toasted almonds bring a subtle crunch and a slightly nutty flavor that makes this dip extra special.
  • Cayenne Pepper – Just a pinch adds a gentle warmth in the background without making the dip spicy.
  • Crackers and/or Fresh Vegetables – The perfect vehicles for scooping, whether you prefer buttery crackers or crisp veggies for a lighter option.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I shred the cheese myself, or is pre-shredded okay?

Freshly shredded cheddar is best if you have a minute. Pre-shredded cheese is often coated to prevent clumping, which can make the dip a bit less creamy. That said, this recipe is forgiving, so use what you have and do not overthink it.

How do I toast the almonds without burning them?

Toast them in a dry skillet over medium heat for a few minutes, stirring often, and pull them off as soon as they smell nutty and look lightly golden. They can go from perfect to scorched quickly, so stay close. You can also toast them on a sheet pan in the oven for a few minutes if you’re already using it.

Any tips for serving this at a party so it stays fresh and easy to scoop?

Use a wider, shallow bowl so people can scoop without fighting for the center. Set out sturdier crackers (I prefer classic Ritz crackers) or thicker-cut vegetables like bell pepper strips, cucumber rounds, or celery so nothing snaps mid-scoop. If the dip sits out for a while, give it a quick stir halfway through the party to keep it creamy and inviting.

  1. C Could I use half sour cream, half Greek yogurt for one or the other instead of mayonnaise? I’m not a big mayonnaise fan or half meanies with half sour cream or half Greek yogurt. And what spice could I use instead of Cayenne? I don’t like it
