After my latest antiquing adventures, I thought I’d pop in and share a few of my vintage finds. My new treasures range from highly functional to purely decorative, with most somewhere in between. I hope you enjoy this peek.

You might have noticed that during the past couple of years my antiquing has been in overdrive. Hunting for special things has brought me so much joy. If my budget and time allowed, I’d go antiquing every week. Living in a city, I have dozens of places to visit so once I hit all of my favorite shops, it’s just about time to start the cycle over. And yes, my fellow Yinzers (Pittsburgh slang), I promise to put together a list of my favorite antique spots. Stay tuned!

It’s been a while since I did a vintage finds haul here on the blog, so I thought I’d do that today. I’m excited to show you what I’ve found and how I’ve initially incorporated many of these goodies into my home.

If you like posts like this one, be sure to let me know in the comments below. I’d be happy to do more.

My Latest Vintage Finds:

Cotton Ball Rabbit – $20

Last year I found a vintage brass rabbit, and ever since I’ve had this thing for bunnies/rabbits. I’ve also long been fond of things that look a little “odd.” This ceramic rabbit checked both of those boxes.

When I was paying for my purchase, the cashier pointed out that the rabbit can be used for storing cotton balls. The rabbit is hollow inside, so when you fill him with cotton balls, the final cotton ball looks like his tall. SO CUTE!

He came with these two furry “tails” so I’m just using those for now. I have him on display under a cloche in my living room (You got a sneak peek of that recently when I shared my new house plants.), though I might move him to the powder room or my bathroom at some point.

Copper Bunny Mold/Cutter – $14

I have spring and Easter on the brain, so when I saw this copper bunny mold/cutter, I thought it’d be the perfect accessory for the upcoming season.

I love decor like this for Easter because it feels festive and springy, but it’s not in-your-face Easter.

Set of Mugs – $10

After I removed the Christmas decor from my pantry shelves, they were looking a little sad and empty. (Of all my Christmas decorating, taking down my pantry decor was the hardest. I LOVED how everything came together in there. The pop of red was magic!) Anyway, I was on the hunt for a few interesting goodies to restock my shelves.

I stumbled across this set of pottery mugs and thought they were ideal. The brown details match the wood accents in the space.

I did hang them across the wood pegs, but I wasn’t thrilled with the look. So I just stacked them on the shelf. I still need to find a few bits and bobs to hang on the pegs.

Wood Kitchen Utensils $1 – $10

While we are in the pantry, I also want to mention that I’ve been collecting wood and wood-handled kitchen utensils. Some are functional, while others are only for decorating and prop styling when I photograph recipes for IBC.

I think it can be helpful to have a few collections in mind when you go antiquing. It’s fun to have something specific you’re always looking for.

More Vintage Finds:

Trophy – $20

I’ve been on the hunt for vintage trophies for the longest time. A couple of weeks ago I found the taller silver trophy at HomeGoods. It’s a pretty good dupe of the vintage ones I’ve seen, so I picked it up.

Then, on a recent antiquing adventure, I found a partner for it! I especially love the wood and brass on this one. The detailing and stance of the statue are fabulous, too. Both trophies are on the mantel in my family room. I’m not sure they will stay there, but for now, I like them in that spot.

Brass Watering Can – $14

I have one indoor watering can, and it does its job just fine. However, it’s not very stylish. Since I recently added several new plants to my home, I thought it was time to upgrade my watering can. When I saw the price tag on this brass beauty, I knew it had to come home with me.

The patina is gorgeous, and it functions beautifully.

Wood Chain – $10

Last, but not least, I found this unique wood chain. I believe it was hand-carved from one piece of wood. Pretty incredible, right?

I thought it was a special find for only $10. These types of chains have become popular for decorating in recent years, but this one is handmade and antique, so it’s an extra-special vintage find!

And that’s it, my friends!

You might have caught me sharing a few more of my vintage finds on Instagram Stories. (It’s saved to my Highlights in case you missed it.) I did get more treasures, but I thought I’d limit my scope here and share some things that I didn’t show on Instagram.

  1. Oh, Michael–as a fellow Yinzer, please do a post on your favorite antique shops–would love to see that! Your blog is wonderful–you are a fantastic source of inspiration!!

  2. Yes. Please do. You found so many unique items. I am always looking for ironstone, crocks and other unique finds. I very seldom go in my city, but when I visit family in Springfield, MO there are tons of flea markets.

  3. Enjoyed reading about your finds! I hope you do more posts on your antiquing! I recently moved and there is a lack of thrift stores and antique stores! Ugh so I get my fix from reading from bloggers!

  4. Wonderful finds; thanks for sharing! As a hobbyist, I often find fun photography props in thrift stores. Love seeing how you display your treasures.

  5. Friends call our home a museum as it is full of antiques. My parents loved them and my grandmother worked in my aunt’s antique shop and when I stayed with her she would send me home with a treasure. Priceless memory.
I have several of the vintage wood utensils and a strainer like yours is the picture is currently in my kitchen drawer.:) Our meat grinder went through Hurricane Ivan in 2004 but kept it, even rusted, and have it attached to my art table holding paint brushes. My daughter-in-law’s mother still uses hers to make chicken salad and it is the best! Try it.

  6. I have been a “silent follower” for years and I have to tell you, your style is my all time favorite! I still go back and admire the photo of your corner with the green cabinet and the cuckoo clock (I pinned that image way before I knew who you were!) We are moving back to the “burgh” after 6 years of living in the south and I look forward to a revisiting my favorite antique haunts. I would love for our paths to cross someday while antiquing! Keep up the awesome work, Mr Wurm!

  7. Yes Michael, love seeing all your vintage finds and hope you will do more of these posts. First, that little rabbit you found is just too cute for words and I wish he could “hop” right to my house! I am a sucker for vintage brass and love the little watering can and the beautiful patina it has. I couldn’t believe the trophy cup was actually a HomeGoods find and not vintage. Had me fooled….lol! You and I both have a thing for vintage paint by numbers and I love chinoserie so when I see a paint by number with a Japanese or Asian theme I grab it.

  8. I love these finds!! I collect vintage salt and pepper shakers and some other various small stuff. Love the hunt! Your trophies are fantastic! The rabbit is a tiny bit scary, great to have an edgy bunny in your collection.
