Leprechaun’s Kiss Martini

With St. Patrick’s Day around the corner, I thought it would be fun to share a cocktail recipe for celebrating the day. In fact, I wasn’t the only one with this thought. That’s why today I’m teaming up again with the #PartyBloggerBash to share the ultimate list of St. Patrick’s Day cocktails. Even if you don’t imbibe, I’m positive you’ll find this collection inspiring and pick up an idea or two to help celebrate the day. These are talented bloggers so be sure to check out all of their creations linked up at the end of this post.

For my St. Paddy’s Day concoction, I looked to the luck of the Leprechaun to create this Leprehaun’s Kiss Martini.

As you will see in the recipe, this cocktail is a simple chocolate martini with appropriate touches to make it perfect for St. Patrick’s Day.

With pots of gold and rainbows on my mind, I started with a little rainbow sugar rim. While this does take a little effort, the results are totally worth it.

First, gather the colored sugars. Then, add them to a plate in a circle shape in the order of the colors of the rainbow. When adding the sugars to the plate, be sure that the circle shape you’re creating is the same size as the rim of your martini glass.

Next, on a another plate, pour a bit of honey. The honey will allow the sugar to stick to the glass and also work well with the flavor profile of the cocktail.

With honey on the rim of the glass, dip it into the sugars, evenly covering the honey. And voila! Now you have a rainbow-inspired martini garnish to kick off our Leprechaun’s Kiss Martini.

Next, we need a kiss, of course. Unwrap a Hershey’s kiss and place it in the bottom of the glass.

With the prep work complete, you’re ready to shake up the martini. As I mentioned above, this recipe is a standard chocolate martini which alone is wonderfully delicious. However, to add a little “luck of the Irish,” I thought a splash of Baily’s Irish cream was fitting. Add all of those delicious liquors to a cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake, and pour into your prepared glass.

And with that, you have a delectable Leprechaun’s Kiss Martini.

That rainbow rim makes all the difference, right? I’m kind of obsessed with it.

And while it’s tdefinitely appropriate for St. Paddy’s Day, I think it could make any celebratory cocktail a bit more fun and colorful. (Quick tip: If you’re making a citrus-based cocktail, you can just use lemon / lime / orange juice in place of the honey. This will allow the sugar to stick just as nicely.

Let me walk you through the recipe.

Leprechaun's Kiss Martini

Leprechaun's Kiss Martini

makes one martini

1 ounce chocolate liqueur
1 ounce cream de cacao
1/2 ounce vanilla vodka
1/2 ounce Irish cream liqueur
1 1/2 ounces half and half
1 Hershey's kiss
6-7 colors of sugar and honey for garnish

Begin with two shallow dishes or plates. To one, add a tablespoon of honey. To the other, create a circle with the colored sugar to resemble the colors of a rainbow. Rim the edge of a martini glass first in honey and then dip it into the colored sugars. Unwrap a Hershey's kiss and add it to the glass. Set aside.

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the chocolate liqueur, cream de cacao, vanilla vodka, Irish cream liqueur, and half and half. Shake vigorously. Slowly strain into your prepared martini glass. Serve, sip, and enjoy!

This is just too fun Michael! I love, love, a good chocolate martini and everything is better with rainbow sprinkles or in this case a rainbow of sugar. 😉

Pretty sure that’s the most visually stunning martini on planet Earth! Or Mars for that matter. Just saw the martian with Matt Damon!

I decided a festive drink was the perfect start to a dinner with friends. I made your Leprechaun’s kiss and it was easy and delicious! My company was impressed with the presentation and taste. I found out later that my hubby forgot to add the half and half and I didn’t think it was lacking due to the Bailey’s. Next time I’ll try it. Thanks for helping me enjoy time with friends by having great go-to ideas. <3
