Happy Holidays and welcome to the 12 Days of Christmas 2015! I am so excited to be bringing this series back to Inspired by Charm. I have lots of fun ideas to share with you over the next 12 days! First up, my Gold and Green Christmas Tree.

Coming up with a new theme for my Christmas tree is probably one of my favorite things to do each holiday season. So, I thought sharing this year’s tree would be a great way to kick off the 12 Days series!

I actually had a tough time deciding on my 2015 theme. I tossed around a few ideas, but ultimately, Adele made the decision for me. Yep, THE Adele.

Gold and Green Christmas Tree:

Okay. Okay. She didn’t actually tell me what to do, but she definitely helped to solidify my decision. Let me explain. First, I knew that I wanted to use the Frozen Fur Flocked tree from Treetopia’s new collection. As in past years, Treetopia was super kind and sent me a new tree to work my magic on for their Holiday Tree Council. As soon as I saw the Frozen Fur, I was in love. It’s a slim white tree with white lights AND it’s flocked. Gorgeous, right?

Once I had the tree, I needed to figure out what to put on it. I had a few preliminary thoughts, but nothing felt right. After talking with a friend, I decided that gold and green could be something fun and different. As much as I like a more traditional tree, I also enjoy mixing things up a bit.

However, I still wasn’t confident in my decision. That was until Adele came into the picture. Following news of her latest album, a preview of Adele: Live at the BBC popped up on YouTube.

If you aren’t aware, I’m a HUGE Adele fan. (Btw, wasn’t this hilarious!?) In the preview, she walks out on stage wearing a gold and green dress. Talk about an A-ha Moment! I took it as a big ol’ sign to move forward with my decision. Thus, my gold and green tree was born.

Thanks, Adele!

It’s certainly not traditional, but I am thrilled with my tree. With the existing colors in the dining room (and help from my new rug), the tree fits in perfectly.

I have a huge collection of glass ornaments, some vintage and some new, so that’s where I started. Actually, I began with a gold ribbon I picked up at Michael’s; then I moved onto the ornaments.

How to Decorate a Gold and Green Christmas Tree:

I used a variety of gold and green hues to give the tree a collected-over-time look. You’ll even see a touch of blue and orange in the mix. I really loaded the tree with ornaments. I even tucked dozens deep into the branches and hung others on the tips of the branches.

Although I could have limited it to colored glass balls, I decided to add more interest with a few different kinds of ornaments. I picked up some ornaments at Michael’s including the gems and the translucent gold ornaments.

I also love shopping the ornament selection at HomeGoods. I’m always surprised that the beautiful selection that have at really great prices. They certainly make me #HomeGoodsHappy!

The long thin ornaments also came from H&M. (In case you’re not aware, H&M has super cute home decor items at great prices.)

For the tree topper, this star from West Elm was the crowning jewel. To tie it into the rest of the tree, I added the matching ornaments.

For the tree skirt, white faux fur was the perfect choice. (It goes nicely with another element in the dining room. I’ll be sharing more of the space on Friday in my Holiday Home Tour.)

Isn’t it pretty?

I especially like this tree with the lights off. However, it’s is a stunner with the lights on as well.

  1. Truly the most beautiful white tree I’ve seen! I love the mix of vintage and new and especially seeing the ribbon tucked in – reminds me of ribbon candy!

  2. Love the look! Your tree pops against the dining room wall ,and the topper beautifully mimics the stars. The ribbon also has just the right amount of contrast with the flocking.

  3. Love your tree! I did not see where you had purchased the green and white scene round ornaments. I expect these are older ornaments but would love to know if they are still available to buy. Thanks.

  4. That’s so beautiful Michael! I would have never thought about using those colors, it’s very classy ( just like Adele). Have a very Merry Christmas!

  6. Truly, Michael, your tree took my breath away!!! It is absolutely stunning! I would be tempted to leave it up through January as it just cooly whispers winter to me. It is fresh, it is unique and it’s truly a lovely example of how very, very talented you are! Wow! Thanks for the inspiration.

  7. I love this tree, decorations and all.

I’ve looked at Treetopia trees online for the past few years, nearly purchasing one last year, until deciding it really wasn’t in the budget.
