Spring Home Tour 2015

Interiors

Welcome to my Spring Home Tour! I’m so excited to be joining a crew of fabulous bloggers for the Spring Blogger Stylin’ Home Tours hosted by the always lovely Lindsey of The White Buffalo Styling Co. I will link up all of the participating bloggers are at the bottom of this post. I highly recommend that you check out everyone’s space. To anyone who’s visiting IBC for the first time, welcome to my blog and my home!

It feels as if not much has changed since our last little tour, but I figured I’d show you around anyway. As you might have guessed from the many food posts on IBC in recent weeks, I’ve been struggling a bit with my design and creativity muscle lately. Much like my physical muscles, I need to get my butt in gear and start working out.

As in past tours, I will mostly let the pictures do the talking and throw in a few links here and there. If you have any questions, just note them in the comment section below. If you’re looking for paint color sources, everything is listed here. I’m currently working with my graphic designer to improve this list and its functionality, so please stay tuned for that.

Ready? Let’s do this!

Our first stop is the dining room. It looks pretty much the same. I’m still very much in love with the gray and immensely grateful that Nate pushed me to make the change. Last week I shared a few ideas for styling centerpieces for your dining room table if that’s ever a struggle for you.

In the entryway, I installed this DIY coat hook. It came in handy for my mom’s 60th birthday party. I also found that orchids do exceptionally well (when watered) in this space, so I’m totally loving that.

Over in the office, things are looking familiar as well. I’m trying hard to limit the amount of “stuff” I have around. I’m not quite where I want to be, but I’m making progress.

In the living room, I decided to do something new for spring. In the past, there was a lot of color happening in this space. Although I loved that, I’ve pared things down to mostly blue, green, and yellow. Naturally, a few other colors can be seen in the rug and some of the accessories, but for the most part, the color scheme has been refined. I think it’s more cohesive and relaxed.

The kitchen really hasn’t changed at all. I’m itching to replace the countertops and backsplash. I know it’s going to be a job and half so I’ve been procrastinating. However, I think it needs to happen sooner than later.

Heading upstairs, I’ve moved around a few things in my bedroom and added accessories. I’m hoping to make some progress with wall art / decor in the near future.

This winter, my guest bedroom received an updated paint treatment above the fireplace. I also wanted to point out how well this little cactus garden is doing. It’s grown so tall.

As always, thanks for stopping by! I already have a Summer Home Tour scheduled, so expect that in a couple months. Hopefully, we can get outside then when things are a little greener.

Have a wonderful weekend. I’ll meet you back here next week.

Michael – ! every nook and cranny of your home is delicious!!! I can’t stop drooling over it all and showing it to my hubs… saying… what do you think of this wall color or this light fixture. Keep doing what you’re doing my friend because it’s fabulous! 🙂

Hi! I love the natural round rug in your entry way. The graphic twist on a classic rug is exactly what I’m looking for. Any idea where it’s from?

It’s from West Elm many years ago. It’s no longer for sale. Sorry!

Hi, where are the white bookshelves in your family room from?

  • Krisb at

Where did you get the chest of drawers with the wooden handles in the bedroom. In one of the pictures a clear desk is there, in another there is a beautiful wooden chest of drawers. I would love to find it.

They are vintage pieces. They actually came with the house when I bought it.

    Michael –

First-time homeowner here, stopping by to say that in one single post, you’ve become my BIGGEST home/design inspiration! I am so in love with your living room that I’m trying to recreate it in my long/narrow Chicago condo. The colors, the geometric prints are so bright and inviting without being too “girly” as my bf would put it. I’ve been searching for HOURS to find a similar rug (CB2 no longer sells it) with no luck. Have you seen anything else that incorporates gray, blue teal and yellow/gold? If you ever get tired of it and want to sell, I’m your girl!!!!

  • Veronica at

Gorgeous! Your home looks so happy and I love all the colors!

Michael, your home is gorgeous! I love the eclectic mix of color and texture! I’ve been trying to track down the CB2 rug in your living room since the moment I saw your pictures (and saw your comment that its CB2). I believe its discontinued. 🙁

Wow! Every room makes me feel so excited! I love all the attention to the smallest details. Very Well done and original!!

Wow, your home is really pretty.
