Inspired by a vintage tablecloth and glass ornament houses, I created an easy-to-put-together Christmas centerpiece to add holiday style and sparkle to my dining room.

Simple Christmas Centerpiece

You might remember that about a month ago I posted about my vintage modern Christmas table decor. I set the table with glassware, plates, flatware, and even a special cake. (You can see that here if you missed it.)

As much as I LOVED that tablescape, I noticed that I wasn’t using my table much because of how it was set. Normally, I would have my morning coffee at the table while scrolling through blog post comments on my laptop. With the table set, I couldn’t do that because there wasn’t space. I realized I needed to clear everything off and only have a simple Christmas centerpiece.

I didn’t want to spend a lot of money, so I mostly used things I already had. I did, however, go to a fave local antique store (Diamond Antiques in Tarentum, PA, in case you’re local) where I found a vintage tablecloth and a glass cake dish and cover. The former turned out to be part of my inspiration!

With those goodies in hand, and a few things from around my home, here’s what I came up with!

Pretty cute, huh?

I was immensely pleased with how it turned out, mainly because it took very little effort or planning. Usually, I stress over these things, but this centerpiece came together easily.

For this Christmas centerpiece, I started with the vintage plaid tablecloth. It was a deal for only $10. Instead of laying it straight or “correctly” on the table, I decided to spread it out at an angle. This just seemed more interesting given all the straight lines in the room – the window panes, doors, flooring, and molding.

Next, I placed the cake stand in the center of the table. (I found this one at HomeGoods a couple of years ago.) Then I put my new-to-me glass cake plate on the stand. I sprinkled faux snow on the plate and tucked in four glass ornament houses I had recently picked up at a local shop. I bought them because I thought they were pretty. And as luck would have it, they fit perfectly here. With the houses in place, there was even room for a couple of mini faux pine trees.

Once the mini snow village was complete, I placed a glass dome on the cake plate.

On each side of the cake stand, I positioned a set of black taper candle holders. (You might remember that I also used them in my previous tablescape.) Their clean design looks wonderful with my chandelier.

I also recommend these white taper candles. They burn really nicely!

To tie everything together, I added a few more mini trees between the candleholders.

And with that, my simple Christmas centerpiece was complete!

As I said, I am so pleased with how it turned out. I hadn’t planned on sharing the centerpiece with all of you, but when it was done, I couldn’t resist showing it to the world.

Oh, and if you like my vintage ornament tree hung on the wall , you can see how I made that here.

  1. Michael, I love everything you do. I found you last year on pinteres and have been with you since. I look forward to your emails everyday. I’m not computer literate, I just do emails. I make so many of your recipes but I can’t send you photos, I’ll learn someday. I’m 74 years old and originally from Pa. southwest of you. I love your home and what you did to fix it all up. It’s beautiful. I’m making your cinnamon roll bread tomorrow. I have all my ingredients ready to go. It looks fantastic. I have to print most of your recipes so I can remember them and remake them. I want to send you a picture of my Christmas tree this year. I will have my granddaughter do it for me. I have an all white tree and decorate it in black. It’s all black and white. It’s beautiful. Your daily emails make my day.. thank you so much.
