It’s that time again. Welcome to IBC’s Summer Home Tour 2016! The last time I officially gave you a tour of my home was back in December. so I’m excited to welcome you back in for a new (and warmer) season. Needless to say, things are looking a bit different since then.

Once again, I am honored to be participating in The White Buffalo Styling Co.’s #BloggerStylinHomeTours. If this happens to be your first stop on the tour, and you’re looking for the beginning, click here. There are over 30 bloggers participating, so you don’t want to miss a thing. (Plus, Lindsay’s home is amazing, so it’s worth a visit regardless.) If you’re following along on the tour and have clicked over from Restless Arrow, welcome! I’m thrilled you stopped by! Isn’t Amber’s home lovely? I love the pops of blue.

For this summer home tour, I’ve actually managed to photograph my entire home including a few shots of my outdoors spaces. Normally, I don’t quite make it all the way around my house, but this season you’re in luck. However, that also means there will be lots of photos. Honestly, it’s probably too many, but I’m aiming for maximum impact.

Those of you who follow IBC probably know my home pretty well by now. However, for those who are new, I’ll try to mention and link as much as I can so you can catch up quickly. Also, new friends, please be sure to sign up for the IBC Mailing List. I send about two emails per week with updates about IBC, inspired finds, and other exclusive content.

Okay, I think that covers everything. Let’s get this Summer Home Tour 2016 started!

We can kick things off in my living room because that’s probably my favorite space. Things haven’t changed much since my Spring Living Room Tour.

However, I did pick up a few pillows at HomeGoods. If you need a simple way to switch up your décor for the summer, shop for pillows at HomeGoods. The selection is awesome, and the prices are excellent.

I also tucked in these colorful flowers. I splurged a bit and ordered myself these beauties from Farmgirl Flowers. I included some grocery store flowers, too. When styled right (tips on that here), they can look just as nice as the more expensive varieties.

Everyone, please say hello to Kevin. He’s my moose / office assistant.

For those of you who don’t know, my living room is connected to my home office space. My house used to be a Bed and Breakfast. The random wall (with the clipboards) and bulkhead above aren’t original to this space. They are the result of adding bathrooms to the house so each guestroom had one. So now I’m left with awkwardness. No biggie though – I’ve embraced it and made it work for me.

Next to my desk is my work table. Yes, it looks like a dining room. As I explained in my Spring Office Tour, I added this table to increase my work space. It has also been working wonderfully for my blog photography. This past May, I hosted a Cinco de Mayo party, and this table was the perfect spot for the festivities.

For overhead lighting, I found this inexpensive arc lamp from Target. I have a 7.5 watt bulb in there. Typically, I’m not a fan of overhead lighting, but the low wattage bulb gives just the right amount of light.

Now, onto the entryway. (The front door is to the left, behind the wall with the pink dresser.)

Opposite my front door, you’ll see my large barn doors. These doors would make you think there are special treasures inside. Sadly, that closet is packed full of props, projects, and a vacuum cleaner. Glamorous, right?

My dining room is just beyond that. For this home tour, I have actually set the table for you. Fancy!

I recently put together a rustic charm tablescape for the HomeGoods Design Happy blog. (You can check that out here.) The timing was perfect because it allowed me to leave the table set and share the space with you.

Naturally, I had to include my new DIY stenciled coffee tray.

Most of you know how much I like a good cocktail, so my $5 thrift store bar cart is stocked and ready to roll. Who needs a drink? I even have my DIY Horse Drink Stirrers on display.

Just off the dining room is my side porch. Last year, I spent time making this space cozy. This year I just get to enjoy it.

I also welcomed a few new friends, Mrs. Dove and her two babies. See her on the top shelf? (They have grown so much in the past few weeks, and it looks like they are almost ready to leave the nest.)

These two tealight holders from Crate and Barrel are new. Filled with tealights, they almost look like a mini wall-mounted fireplace. If you follow me on Snapcat (inspiredbycharm), you might have seen them flickering.

Back inside we can take a quick peak at my vintage kitchen. (You can see more of this space here if you wish.) Not much has changed in there except for a new bench and some cheeky artwork.

Heading upstairs, I have an interesting recent addition in my hallway. If you follow Emily Henderson, something may look familiar.

I purchased this large mirrored and woven wall hanging from a recent online sale. I saw it a few years ago on a shoot she did with Target. It was love at first sight. So, when I found out that she was selling it, I just couldn’t resist buying it.

It’s pretty large, coming in at about 8 feet high. I’m not sure if this will be its permanent spot, but I do love it here for now.

Hung next to my beach-inspired picture ledges (get that tutorial here), I think it works perfectly. (And it’s from Emily Henderson. I’m still giddy about that.)

Beyond the hall are my bedrooms. First up is my closet. One perk of living alone is that you can dedicate an entire room in your house to your closet. (Yes, I’d much rather have a partner in crime, but I’ll settle for a large closet for now.)

Next to that is my bedroom where my gold unicorn still majestically watches over me.

My home has two guest bedrooms. This space has been one of my more recent projects. While I still need a few pieces of artwork on the wall, I finally hung my blinds.

I also picked up some stools for the end of the bed.

I’ll have to give you a better update on this space in the coming weeks. It’s been a while since I’ve shared it.

My second guest bedroom remains pretty much the same with a couple accessory swaps and new wall sconces.

Wondering about the artwork? It’s from Lindsay Letters. I have several of her pieces in my home.

At this point you might be wondering about bathrooms. Yes, I have them. I actually have 3.5 of them. However, they are less than tour-worthy. We will get to those one of these days.

Now, let’s pop outside for a quick look at the deck, and then this tour will be a wrap.

But first, in case you missed it, I shared a little peek at my back porch last week. It still needs a tweak or two, but it’s coming along nicely.

in case you’re wondering about the hanging planter filled with hens and chicks, it’s a DIY. You can learn how to make it here. You can also check out my new DIY Vertical Herb Garden here. You’ll never guess what I used to make it. (Well, unless you already seen the post, they you might have a pretty good guess. Ha!)

For the deck, I hope to be doing a more in-depth tour. However, I thought a quick look around was essential for a summer home tour.

I got carried away with flowers and plants again this year after picking up these new planters at West Elm. Every year I try to cut back on what I plant. Somehow this year I’ve managed to plant more than ever.

While things are certainly taking shape, I’m looking forward to seeing how everything fills out this summer.

Speaking of filling out, my espaliered apple tree is finally loaded with apples this year. Normally I’m lucky to get a half dozen. This year there’s over two dozen baby apples. I’m sensing an apple pie in my future.

And with that, my friends, I think this Summer Home Tour 2016 is a wrap. What did you think?

Inspired by Charm Summer Home Tour 2016 | inspiredbycharm.com

I hope you found it entertaining and that you were inspired by something along the way.

That was a lot of pictures, right? With outdoor spaces becoming an extension of the home in the summer, there’s just so much to share. I couldn’t help myself.

  1. Love looking at all your pictures! As you admired the Emily Henderson wall hanging, I’m always coveting that unique brass cat. Lol I found so much inspiration in your home

  2. So I’m dying over your apple tree. So stinking cool! I want to do that on the side of my house. Did someone help you or train you on figuring that all out?! It just looks so artistic. Also I’m dying over your succulent planter. You called them chicks and hens. When I was a kid my mom had millions of them but called them cats and kittens! So now I want to know what are they are really called and how did they get these nicknames.

  3. Your home is gorgeous. Seriously my favorite on the web! Your attention to detail is so beautiful and your home is so warm and inviting. I could move right in! 🙂 Thank you for sharing. You are mighty talented!

  4. The flowers all over your house are just stunning! I especially loved the arrangement on your office table. And I love the little you that pops out at the end of each post to say hi!

    1. Are you kidding!? I NEVER get bored of compliments from you. 🙂 It really means the world to me. 🙂 Thanks Lucy!! 🙂

      xo Michael

  5. HELLO!! Amazing tour! I am so impressed. I love the touches of pink and all of the amazing shelves and details you have in your home. That floor lamp you used above your dining table it so unique. Well done!

  6. Michael I can’t get enough of the pictures of your home. I have looked through them three times and every time I see something new. Every accessory is in the perfect spot, the amazing colors, the textures, the way you arrange the art on your walls, the flowers and plants – it is all works together in such a special way. And your outdoor space is so inviting now! You have really created a unique home. Thank you for sharing your talent with us. I always look forward to your Instagram posts!

  7. Everything is soooo fabulous! Your attention to detail is amazing! I’ve got to ask what camera/lens kit do you use? Your photography is as amazing as your design! ??? Such beautiful crisp images, makes my heart go pitter-patter! ?

  8. Oh my goodness, I don’t know where to begin! As always you blew me away with another gorgeous home tour. Your dining room has always been one of my favorites, but your workspace and outdoor space are pretty amazing too! I love all the colors and attention to detail. You are one talented guy 🙂

    1. You have a good eye! It is a little mouse. 🙂 He’s made of wood with a leather tail. I picked him up at a shop in Louisville, KY.

      xo Michael

      1. I love that! We have a little mouse in our house that we hide for the other to find. We’ve been playing that game in our 3 last houses 🙂

  9. Excellent tour. You have certainly pulled off a modern style that is cheerful and inviting! I love it. Thank you for including so many spaces. I find it more helpful to see whole house or at least whole room pictures to better understand how a home flows/lives. I’m sure it requires a TON of work to get it all clean, decorated and staged for photos though. Your kitchen is AMAZING! Pristine vintage.
