Happy Friday! I’m currently on my way to Vermont to attend a little house warming party for a friend who recently bought a home up there. My friends and I packed into a car yesterday to make the 9+ hour trip. (I’m actually writing this post on Wednesday, so let’s hope the trip went well.)

Anyway, in addition to some of my Out-of-this-World Corn Dip, I thought I’d make a fun treat to bring to the party. Since it’s hard to travel with cocktails, I decided to concoct an alcoholic treat of a different kind.

Rummy Cherries!

If you’ve been following IBC for a while now, you may remember I posted about Rummy Bears / Worms (or in our family, Wurms) in a Weekend Wanderlust last year.

Basically, you soak gummy candy in alcohol for about 24 hours. So simple, totally delicious, and a really fun for any party.

Any gummy candy will do. We’ve used gummy bears, gummy worms, gummy coke bottles, and now gummy cherries. You can also use any kind of alcohol; I’ve used rum and vodka. Based on my experience, I think the vodka is a bit stronger tasting than the rum. However, some folks prefer that. One of my favorite combinations is gummy coke bottles and cherry rum. They are like little Cherry Cokes.

If you’re wondering where to get unique gummy candy, check your local super market or super store. I also just discovered that Amazon sells them in five pound bags. Sweet!

Anyway, I’m going to give you a recipe, but they are pretty self-explanatory.

Rummy Cherries

Here's what you will need:

Gummy cherries
Cherry rum
(Feel free to use any combination you like.)

In a jar or plastic container with a lid, toss in your gummy candy, then top with your liquor. You'll want the gummies to be completely covered. Let them sit for 24-36 hours at room temperature. If possible, give them a quick stir every couple of hours to prevent them from sticking together. If the gummies seem to have soaked up all of the liquor, just add a splash or two more when you stir them.

That’s it!

These do have a short shelf life, so you’ll want to eat them up at the party. FYI: If you leave them in the sun, they will melt. If this happens and you put them in the refrigerator, they will turn into one large, jar-shaped gummy.

As you can guess, your friends and family are going to get a kick out of them. Give them a try and let me know what flavor combination you like the best in the comments below. (Also, I know this goes without saying, but these are an adult treat and should not be consumed by anyone under the legal drinking age.)

So, with Rummy Cherries in hand, let’s check out some of my favorite links this week!

Cheers to this awesomeness!

First up, music. Have you seen and heard the song, “All About That Bass” from Maghan Trainor? It’s amazeballs. You can listen to it here. (The video is super cute, too.) I’m also completely obsessed with Caroline Pennell (She was a contestant on The Voice.) and Jay Stolar’s cover of Latch. It’s just beautiful.

And if you’re curious as to what else I’m listening to, check out my “I listen to MUSIC” board on Pinterest.

In case you’re not already following Bri Emery’s blog Design Love Fest, you need to do so immediately. Amongst all her great things, I especially love her latest Dress Your Tech. She’s always giving away the best computer desktop wallpapers.

Have you been by the MyColortopia blog recently? In my two latest articles, I talk about some fabulous fresh paint color palettes and how I went about choosing colors for my dining room.

So, one of my favorite clothing stores is Zara. (By the way, they are having their annual sale right now.) Early this year (I think) they started Zara Home. They sell some incredible home decor items at a pretty reasonable prices. I can’t wait to see their new fall collection. If you like funky home accessories, check them out.

In my series “My Home to Yours” over on BHG Style Spotters, I’m sharing tips for incorporating pattern into your home, plus ideas for creating art using plates.

You know I love Instagram, right? (Follow along here.) And some of you probably know who Emily Henderson is, right? Design Goddess and everything I want to be when I grow up. Well, her BFF Orlando (who is a designer, has a blog, and is the Creative Director for HomePolish) has one of the most entertaining Instagram feeds ever. Not only are his photos fab, but his descriptions have me laughing out loud. His humor may not be for everyone, but do yourself a favor and take a look.

All right, I think that’s enough for today. Have a wonderful weekend everyone! See you back here on Monday when I’ll be revealing my little antique dresser makeover.

I made this before using gummy Lifesavers and vodka served on toothpicks. They were a hit and the remaining liquid made for an interesting drink!
    Cheers!
