What’s the Tea: Spring Update

Happy Spring! Happy Mid-April! Happy Almost-Summer! (That last one might be a bit premature, but I couldn’t stop myself.) It’s been a hot minute since we last chatted, so I thought I’d pop in with a “What’s the Tea Life Update” and let you in on some of the things rolling around in my head right now.

Spring Fever:
This past weekend my mom came to Pittsburgh for a visit. She couldn’t have picked a better time. With the temperature getting into the mid-80s, it was glorious! And because we knew those warm days wouldn’t last, we took full advantage of them!

In addition to shopping, we walked around Highland Park, visited Point State Park, lunched in Station Square, and toured the city via the Gateway Clipper.

I’m also working on a fun indoor/outdoor post with IKEA, so we stopped in there for a bit of inspiration. Visiting IKEA on a Sunday was not my best idea. The store was buuusy! However, I did gather many great ideas, and I’ll be sharing those with you soon.

Goodbye Old Charm:
After what feels like a lengthy process, it looks as if I will close on my St. Marys house this Friday. As I mentioned recently, I said my final goodbye to my home over Easter weekend. It was bittersweet, but I know the place is in good hands, and I’m beyond excited about my new adventures! I’ll be pulling together a “looking back post” soon, so stay tuned for that.

Blogging Business:
I wanted to share two quick business-y things. First, I’m putting in a lot of behind-the-scenes work to make the Inspired by Charm website work better. Not only have I been doing what I can to improve site speed, I’ve been trying to make IBC more searchable with Google. It’s a lot of tedious and boring work that I won’t explain. However, it does include editing some older content. So, depending on how you follow the blog, you may see some familiar or random posts popping up here and there.

I mention this because it might appear as though I’m trying to trick folks into thinking old content is new content. That’s not my intent. However, if you do to see these posts, please feel free to comment on them, pin them, and share them with friends, as you would with any new post. The more you share and interact with any posts on IBC, the more it helps the blog grow. Thank you!

Second, I’ve also been putting a stronger focus on the Inspired by Charm Mailing List. If you’re not subscribed, you can do so here. I’ve been sending out three emails per week.

The first email (usually sent on Mondays) recaps a particular topic and shares links to posts both new and old. That email includes a bonus section in which I share things I’m loving that week. This section is exclusive to the mailing list. A second email (sent on Fridays) recaps the new posts that appeared on the blog that week. A third email (the day will vary) contains two posts from the IBC archives that I feel are timely for the season and worth a revisit.

As you can see, being on the mailing list is an easy way to stay connected with everything that’s happening on the blog! Again, you can sign up here if you are interested.

Other Goodies:
I’m SO excited that Sugarland is back! (Anyone else an old-school Sugarland fan?) I am planning to go to one of their concerts this summer and have already pre-ordered their new album! (affiliate link)

Speaking of music, did you watch the CMAs last night? It’s one of my favorite award shows. My top two performances of the evening were Reba and Kelly Clarkson’s duet and Carrie Underwood’s performance of her new song.

These Mini Peach Cobblers ( a post I wrote for HomeGoods) are making me so excited for summer!

Pinterest has been making some wonderful changes lately. I’m hoping the platform continues to improve. If you’re not following Inspired by Charm, you can do so here. I’m still pinning every day!

Shhhh!:
And finally, as a reward for all of you who’ve read this far, I have a very exciting house hunting update to share with you soon. Since it’s still early, I’m not posting an official announcement, but consider this our secret. Please keep your fingers crossed for me!

That’s it for now! As always, thank you so much for reading IBC and sharing in life’s adventures with me!

  1. Hi Michael! Enjoyed the post and pic of you and your mom! Loved your summery tropical shirt/so great for 80 degree temps in Pittsburgh in April! I’m enjoying re-“visiting” your old home. That’s what got me hooked on IBC to begin with. Yes, to the cookbook as someone else posted. Made your delicious Really Good Macaroni Salad again for Easter. Son-in-law can’t get enough of it! “Love the dill!” He says. Enjoy the warmer temps and looking forward to hearing the latest on the house hunting! God bless!

  2. Hi Michael, I look forward to each and every post on your blog. Can’t wait to hear all about the new “adventure”. Hope it all works out for you. Love Love Love your appetizer recipes!!!

  3. So excited for you on the house hunting front. I can’t wait to hear more about it. I made the Blueberry Boy Bait recipe over the weekend and I’ve never seen my family devour anything so quickly! My husband got up to get a second helping, and found the pan empty! Thank you for sharing such a great recipe!

  4. So excited for you! We’re getting ready to redo some spaces and this is my go-to for inspiration, so I can’t wait to see what’s in store for you!

  5. Oh, I’m so excited for you! Fingers DEFINITELY crossed! Since I rarely, if ever, comment, I thought I would mention here that my husband and I (and our friends!!) LOVE all your recipes! Your cakes are in a rotation around here, and though we just made the key lime pie fudge and out-of-this-world corn dip this past weekend, we are already shamefully addicted. 🤣 I know it’s easy to search your website for recipes, but should you ever decide to put together a cookbook, I would be the first to buy it! ❤️

    1. Awww! That’s so awesome! And yes – that corn dip is CRACK! It’s sooo good. Thank you for the sweet compliment. Hopefully a book will be in my future. 🙂

      xo Michael
