Well, last week was quite the week. Let me explain.
On Thursday of the previous week, I hopped on a plane and headed to Florida to set sail on a Carnival Cruise to the southern Caribbean. As planned, I boarded the boat on Friday afternoon, and before I knew it, we were in the middle of the ocean.
Of course, pure bliss ensued. I popped on my bathing suit, ordered a cocktail (maybe several), and soaked up the sun. I decided to cruise alone this time and was pretty anxious about it. However, within hours of being on the ship, I met some awesome people. Worries subsided.
On Sunday, however, things quickly changed. I received word from my mom that my grandfather (Pop) had passed away. He had been struggling with a few health issues over the past few months. Just before I left he had been hospitalizedl, but seemed to have bounced back some and was moved to a local nursing home. So while we knew he was struggling, we had no idea the end would come so quickly.
Anyway, shortly after getting the news, I spoke with the folks at Carnival to arrange getting off the ship the following day at our first port of call in Aruba. They were incredible during the entire process, and I can’t thank them enough for their concern and attention. They assisted with booking my flight, arranging a cab to the airport, and getting me off the ship quickly to make said flight. I was (and still am) so grateful.
After returning home late Tuesday night, I spent the rest of the week with family, mostly at Gram’s house and at services. Pop loved to take pictures, so we went through thousands of old family photos. We only wished we had done it while he was here. He would have loved it.
Pop will be greatly missed. He was a dedicated, kind, and sweet man. If you are the praying kind, please put in a good word (or even happy thoughts) for my grandmother. She and Pop were married for 61 years. I can’t imagine what the loss must feel like.
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know why you haven’t heard much from me lately.
As I mentioned previously, I intended to do a little planning, scheduling, organizing, reflection, etc. on my cruise, but that didn’t happen. So, I’m either going to attempt to do that at home or take a mini-getaway soon. Regardless of how things work out, I do have some ideas and projects in the works. I’m really excited to share these things with you soon.
Stay tuned and have a fabulous week.
