What’s the Tea: A New Home

Happy Tuesday! With lots happening in the past couple weeks, I thought I’d spill the tea on what’s new and notable in the life of IBC!

For starters, I closed on a house!

Yes, I’m officially a homeowner again. I’ve been sharing sneak peeks over on Instagram, and I’m hoping to do a full home tour here on Friday.

Although I’ve already snapped lots of pictures, I also want to share a video to give you an idea of how the house is laid out. I know many of you are curious, but please bear with me a little longer. My goal is Friday. (Saturday at the latest.)

I won’t be moving into the house until late June. As you will see on my tour, the hardwood floors need some work. The former owners pulled up all the carpet upstairs to show the hardwood. There are mismatched stains and markings from the carpets so it just makes sense to refinish the floors before moving in.

In the meantime, I will be slowly clearing out my storage unit and apartment, which should make move-in day a little less intense. Fingers crossed.

I suspect I’ll be talking about my new home non-stop because my mind has been in overdrive the past week. I want to do so much. It’s a bit overwhelming but in a good and exciting way!

I’m also trying to figure out the best way to include you in the process without being “in your face” with new house talk. Thank you for your patience and understanding as I navigate these waters.

In other news, last week I had a chance to hang out at Julie Blanner’s lake house for a blogger retreat. Not only is she a fabulous host, but it was great to connect with blogger friends and talk shop.

Blogging has changed a lot in the past couple of years. It’s an ever-evolving machine that shifts almost daily. Taking time to stop and evaluate what you’re doing and how you’re doing it has never been more important.

One of these days, I want to show you what is entailed in putting together a blog post. It’s a lot more involved than snapping a few pictures and writing copy. You might find the whole process interesting in case you’re thinking about starting your own blog or just like to be in the know.

Anywho, the retreat was a joy! Most of the details would probably bore you, although I will say that if you’re ever near Branson, Missouri, be sure to visit Top of the Rock. It’s truly a magical place with breathtaking views.

And finally, a couple blog updates:

1) I’ve updated the SHOP IBC page with new product selections as well as a section for outdoor living. There are some fantastic outdoor goodies on the market this year, so I was excited to incorporate that section into the shop.

2) As I mentioned in my last What’s the Tea update, I’m still working on behind-the-scenes blog post organization work. If you’ve been following along for a while, I’m sure you recognized the content in a few posts. Thank you in advance for your patience as I get things a bit more organized. Hopefully, you’re enjoying a new look at some previous postings.

I think that’s it for now. I hope all is well with you and that spring has brought you sunshine, blooms, and buckets of happiness.
