Well dressed.

This past weekend I had this crazy thought and desire to explore a new part of my creative side. I’ve always had a love for fashion, men’s fashion specifically, but I’m really a novice in this area. I have a limited knowledge of brands, designers, or all of the latest trends. What I do know is that fashion and interior design have a beautiful way of blending together. I think that each can inspire the other. I also know what I like and what I think looks good. That’s half the battle, right? Like interior design, fashion is very personal and very subjective.

I live in a town where sweats and anything camouflage are probably the top sellers when it comes to menswear. I have certainly dulled down my personal style and fashion risks due to this. Well, as I move ahead in 2013 and toward my thirties, it seems silly not to be exactly who I want to be or wear what I want to wear.

Anyway, the purpose of this post is to let you know that I have decided to not only explore this interest personally, but also publicly. After a little research, it seems that the easiest way for me to share my inspirations and ideas is via Tumblr. I created a Tumblr page for Inspired by Charm a while back that I’m now putting to good use. So, if you’d like, feel free to follow along. If you don’t use Tumblr, you’re welcome to check out my “i wear” board on Pinterest.

Once I build up my confidence in the area of men’s attire, I hope to include occasional “what I wore” posts on IBC as well. I do realize that more than 80% of you are females, but I hope you’ll be able to pull some inspiration from such posts or be able to share them with the men in your life. In the meantime, if you are interested in more information on this subject, check out three of my new favorite bloggers: Scout Sixteen, This Fellow, and Kolonel Mustard, who all focus on the well-dressed male.

Thanks for joining me on this new mini-adventure! What creative areas in your life would you like to explore?

Wear what makes you happy! I think you’d look fabulous in the cognac jacket w/ grey vest, plaid shirt, & navy tie. The grey jacket w/ grey sweater also a fav. Anything over jeans would look smashing — and why shouldn’t you set a style example and uplift your town?

Awesome idea! And women can get fashion inspiration from mens’ outfits as well — maybe not the exact pieces, but the layering, combinations of textures and patters… good fashion is good for everyone. Happy New Year. 🙂

Awesome! I also live in a “camo and sweats” kind of town and of course, to each his own, but I have two teenage boys who like to take it up a notch. In fact, my youngest likes to rock a blazer with his jeans to school and actually wears leather shoes instead of tennies all the time. It sure doesn’t take much to take a look up a notch and as I tell my boys…”girls dig it”! I personally feel that taking some time and a little pride in how we present ourselves to the rest of the world shows not only respect for the individual but the people with whom you associate. Can’t wait to see more!!

I discovered you on Pinterest and can now proudly consider myself a member of the 20%. Any recommendations on finding stylish clothes for men on a budget? My wife and I are at wits end here!
