Recently, I had the amazing opportunity to travel to New York City to visit Target’s first-ever Holiday House. About a month ago, I was selected by the awesome folks at Target to be a part of their Inner Circle. (I know, I can’t even. I’m still pinching myself!) You all know how much I love their home products, so I jumped at the chance to be a part of this community. Being in the Inner Circle is kind of an all-access pass to Target, including events like this year’s Holiday House. A few of my talented blogger friends, Jen of I Heart Organizing, Gina of Skinny Taste, and Justin of Scout Sixteen, are also a part of this group.
My first event with the Inner Circle allowed me to head to NYC and check out their Holiday House which was chock-full of inspiration. I thought I’d share a few of my favorite things from the event with you.
Inspire – First things first. This was a gorgeous space with exposed brick walls, huge windows, and even an indoor pool. In fact, this is the same space where Beyonce’s “Halo” video was filmed. How’s that for a fun fact?
Decorate – There’s nothing I love more than visiting other people’s homes to see how they decorate. Whether I actually love the style or not, I always find inspiration in different spaces. You just have to pull the pieces that you like and give them your own twist.
Wrap – Oh wrapping paper. How I love thee! Wrapping presents is probably one of my favorite things. I was truly inspired by all of the wrapping paper options. I already picked out my favorite for this year’s holiday wrapping!
Tape – This was probably one of my top takeaways from the event. The team used colored tape to create a fireplace and and mantel. How fun is that? They even added a few candles with ornaments as the flames and gold tape as the light emanating from them. So creative! Don’t have a fireplace? No worries. Create one with tape!
Create – I was wowed by this idea from David Stark. He took a frame and filled it with gold-wrapped chocolate coins. It’s such a simple idea for easy and unique artwork. Plus, the gold adds sparkle for the holidays. David is a brilliant designer, event planner, and author. He’s actually worked with Target for quite some time. He’s teaming up with them this year for Best.Party.Ever. It’s a genius idea where you can get ideas, crafts, printables, and tutorials free from Pinterest. You can check that out here.
Trim – I’m always inspired by unique tree ideas. I was so enchanted by this colorful tree created out of a ladder and another tree made from garland and ornaments above a fireplace. It’s a fun way to incorporate a tree into your decor if you don’t want the mess of pine or are tight on space.
Snow – While there are lots and lots of things to love about the holiday collection, I was really digging these adorable snow globes and these metal houses. The bright red just instantly makes me think of Christmas!
Eat – I also picked up a few recipe ideas while I was there. Since I live a bit far from the nearest Target, the food section was not my go-to place when I visited. That’s all changed now. I now have some super-simple drink and food recipes to share with you soon, including this yummy flatbread!
I have a few more fun ideas to share, but I’m going to save them for another post. In the meantime, Target created a fun video to go along with the event. David Stark talks about a few of the details and shares some helpful holiday tips. And, if you look closely, you can spot yours truly a few times in the video.
So I’m curious, what creative ideas do you have planned for the holiday?
This post was created as part of my collaboration with Target. As always, the thoughts and ideas are my own. #MyKindofHoliday
