As I make plans to do some painting in my office, and the fate of the chalkboard wall sways in the wind, I’ve been exploring unique ways to dress up a wall. I won’t necessarily be using any of these specific ideas, but they did get my creative juices flowing. Hope they also inspire you!

Do you need a pop of color in your neutral space, but don’t want to paint a whole wall? Try painting just a door or a band of color close to the ceiling.

Or how about painting just the trim of a window? This yellow color instantly makes me happy.

Are your hardwood floors in need of a refresh? Instead of refinishing them, work with their character and add some paint. I just adore the color combination here. The geometric patterns are so whimsical and interesting.

You can also take some inspiration from Joy the Baker. The geometric wall treatment in her home office is fabulous. Plus, the color combo is ridiculous (in a really good way. You may remember that I helped her pick out the colors.)

Check out this pink-inspired ombre wall. It’s so fun and playful. I’ve also been a little obsessed with pink these days. It may just be my next gold. Watch out.

Lastly, this paint treatment for an outdoor space has always been a favorite of mine. Talk about cheerful. I think it would work wonderfully inside, too. Using less-saturated colors would make it a little more subtle for an indoor space.

Okay, so now that I’ve given you some great ideas for painting, I want to tell you about the set of seven Show Me How videos that Glidden has created to teach and guide us in getting the job done efficiently and effectively.

As you know, I’m a blogger for Glidden and their painting inspiration site My Colortopia. Haha. I don’t know if I’ll be attempting anything this extreme, but it does make me excited for the possibilities.

I LOVE that painted floor, I think I may take the plunge and paint a floor TOO! Maybe just my tiny 1/2 bath to start… it can’t look any worse than the icky vinyl that was there when we moved in… right?
But THAT photo is my fav painted floor I have seen yet… love the colors and the pattern…So, thanks!!!

Yes – I love that floor too! And a bathroom would be the perfect place to give it a try.

I love the idea how you are going to paint your house from floor to walls. This is so unique and lovely.

I love the floor and the outside wall with the touch of color. Plus the shades of pink wall. Have to do a floor like that though, my favorite. Thanks for the ideas.

I agree it’s so hard to pick a color for painting. There are so many different options that it can be overwhelming and it seems like the look on the examples is always so different on an entire wall. Great example of creativity!

It requires high interior design skills to really play with the colors in my opinion.
Though I would say I really like the window trip painted in bright yellow. Would look very look on vintage cute downtown apartments.

    Great post!

I’m painting my living room this spring. I like the idea of colored trims. I might do this to give the room some life.
