the final call

i can’t believe i’m writing this post.

for those of you that have been following me for a while may remember me asking you back in mid july if you could ‘spare a square.’ i made the decision to create a quilt and i needed your help. the goal was to build a summer quilt using pieces of material from my readers of inspiredbycharm.

and boy did you all come through! last night i finished cutting squares from all the material i had received. after counted all the squares i’m at about 500. have i mentioned you all are amazing!? some of you sent multiple pieces of fabric. some of you sent more than one square. you really know how to make a guy feel special.  i was able to cut multiple pieces from some of the material i received. and, as i mentioned, some of you graciously sent more that one piece. so with all that 500 squares is the current total.

now that everything cut, i’m really antsy to get started sewing this bugger up.  i’m also feeling a bit more comfortable with my machine since i finally finished my curtains. so, with all that being said, today is the final call for fabric.

i know i have a lot of new readers so i’d love to incorporate pieces from all of you! or maybe you’ve already submitted a piece and have more? send it my way! i have a lot of room to be flexible too. the goal is to make the quilt a queen size which will require 728 squares. but i can make a full (624) or a king (840) depending on how much more material i receive over the next couple weeks. make sense?

so the deadline to get your fabric in the mail is going to be valentines day … februray 14th, 2011 … a monday … three weeks from tomorrow. should give you plenty of time. right?

as i mentioned in my post back in july i will find a way to thank each and every one of you for participating. if you need more info about contributing out that original post. my address is there too. but basically i’d like a block of fabric that’s at least 6×6 inches. it needs to be your basic cotton quilters fabric. no silks, wools, velvets, etc. and the theme of the quilt is summer – so bright, happy, cheerful colors and patterns.

and i can’t say this enough – thank you to everyone that has contributed so far. this is going to be one amazing quilt. seriously.

and i have two new contributions to share today.

the first two pieces are from sara in virgina

i’m loving the reds and oranges in both of these. so beautiful and cheery.

and she even sent the material in the cutest envelope… she drew scissors and a spool of thread on the outside. so awesome.

the next submission is from jessica at alexandjess

love it!

she also sent me a zipper foot for my new sewing machine and extra bobbins. AND two homemade potholders. she got a new sewing machine and had no use for the accessories. people amazing me with their kindess. and i’m mortified i’m only posting about this now as she sent them to me before christmas. shame on me! jessica, i appreciate your kindness beyond words.

sara and jessica – thank you so much!

and finally … jax, my kitty, acted as my trimmings supervisor this morning as i finished cutting a few squares. here’s how the scenario played out.

“hey, what’s going on up there? what are you doin? can i help?”

“ooo, what’s that? can i have that? looks like fun!”

“let me just reach up here and grab it. he’ll never know what hit him.”

Inspired By Charm

“crap. he saw me. pull. pull. ”

Inspired By Charm

“ahh. success. my cute face and sweet paws work like a charm.”

isn’t he the cutest?

and don’t forget about the giveaway if you haven’t already entered. it’s going on through monday. and i must say, your favorite songs are awesome! i’m thrilled you’ve shared! have an amazing sunday.

what an adorable kitty, and he looks pretty similar to my little gray girl. i don’t know exactly what breed mine is, but yours looks similar. i think there’s something extra rambunctious about them! glad everyone spared a square, wow!
