things have been pretty busy around here. busier than last year at this time. busier than expected.  and don’t get me wrong, busy is good, but certain adjustments need to be made.

i offered to help bake holiday cookies for my mom this year and trying to squeeze cooking making into my schedule hasn’t been necessarily easy. so when i saw this recipe for ‘candy cookie cups’ i felt like i hit the jackpot.

you only need three ingredients:

1. one package (18oz) individually portioned refrigerated white chip macadamia nut cookie dough (i know it’s pre-made cookie dough, but you can’t tell, trust me)

2. twenty-four miniature peannut butter cups (reeses of course!)

3. and 1/2 cup finely chopped macadamia nuts.

got your ingredients? here’s what to do…

sprinkle macadamia nuts into 24 greased miniature muffin cups, 1 teaspoon in each.

cut each portion of cookie dough in half (or just tear it like i did), place each half in a muffin cup.

bake at 325 for 11-13 minutes or until golden brown.

(and don’t forget to unwrap your peanut butter cups in advance)

immediately (after taking pictures for you blog) place a peanut butter cup in each cookie; press down gently.

cool completely before removing from pans to wire racks. (this step is actually important. can’t rush this one!)

and they really are delicious. honest. and no one will ever know, expect for me of course, that you used refrigerated cookie dough. and i promise not to tell. so if you need a quick super yummy cookie, give them a try.

ok, and now for the question. i’m in the need of a new computer. last year i got a virus on my current computer (a laptop from dell) and it’s just never been the same. then this past summer i dropped my laptop. i know. shame on me. so now the screen is literally hanging on by the wires on the one side. and the cd-rom is slightly dysfunctional.

i’ve been a lifetime pc user, but have interest in switch over to mac. so please take a second to complete the poll below. and if you have more detail advice or a very strong opinion, please leave a comment below or shoot me an email. thank you! thank you!

i’m glad that you stopped by my blog because now i’m enjoying checking out yours. 🙂
as for the mac vs pc thing… i’ve grown up using macs. i love them. my husband used to use them as well until our last mac (laptop) died right after running out of warranty. (this was the second time that particular situation has happened to husband. i believe it happened to my sister in law as well).

I will say that every mac desktop that i have used has lasted ages longer than any pc would have.

my advice is this…if you want a desktop definitely buy a mac. if you want a laptop then i would say pc.

we currently have a pc because my husband worked at best buy and got a great deal on it. we have had issues with our pc’s but the major difference had been that it’s always been under warranty.

I currently have and have always had a Mac. However, after having a big girl job where I sit at a PC all day, I will warn you – It’s a whole different ball game. And Mac’s are pricier. But I still don’t think I’d ever buy a PC for my own personal use.

I love my mac. I’d never go back to PC.

Just started following your blog and thought I’d weigh in on the whole Mac versus PC issue. I’ve been Mac for years and find that they are definitely worth the price point: they, on average, last longer and require fewer repairs than their PC counterparts. I also find them easier to use, easier to maintain, and just prettier. Aesthetics, while perhaps being somewhen shallow, are important. As for the laptop versus desktop – I would buy a laptop and then purchase an LCD screen, wireless keyboard, and wireless mouse. This way, you have the portability of the laptop but can set up a workstation with two monitors (research has shown this enhanced productivity!) when you need to really settle into work.

delish! we were pcs until about 2 years ago – we got a mac desktop & laptop. the screen size on the desktop (an imac) is amazing & has been great for my new photography hobby. the laptop is awesome for when i want to read blogs and watch tv (like now!). so either way – whatever will work better for you.

Um – YUM!!! Those cookies look so good! I may just have to try some right now!

OK, 1.) YUM! and 2.) Go Mac. You’ll never go back. As for the desktop/laptop issue, it all depends on how you use it. I have a laptop because I like to lounge around on the couch or sit at the kitchen table with my computer. I had a desktop but I didn’t use it nearly as much (which may be a good thing). But here’s an option you maybe should consider and one I wish I would have considered. A Mac desktop and an iPad. Basically costs the same as a Mac laptop.

for computers, i’d say pc all the way, but it *does* depend on what you use it for. myself, i use a lot of academic programs that either don’t exist for mac or it’s a hack job getting it to work and that completely isn’t worth the hassle. my husband just had to get a mac for work (he prefers linux, but there weren’t other options), and he complains about it ALL THE TIME. he’s a computer professional and he can’t stand the mac.

however, for the average consumer who doesn’t actually need much, a mac would probably suit you just fine. i’m sure every other commenter you’ll guy will fanatically profess their love for mac. =) just know that, if that’s what you get, you’re paying premium for a brand name and a shiny sexy appearance, and the product quality itself is not comparable at any price point.

what *would* i recommend (secondhand, based on recommendations of People Who Know What They’re Talking About)? a lenovo thinkpad laptop.

btw, those cookies look AMAZING. =)
