I was on an unintended internet hiatus this weekend. The weather here has been nothing short of fantastic. I just wanted to be outside as much as possible. Thankfully, I have several unfinished project outside that I’ve been dying to get started on.
First, last summer my Dad and I had to replace the bottom of the pillars holding up my front porch as the wood was starting to rot. With this fix, a paint job is obviously needed. I decided to change the the color of pillars from maroon to white. Painting to start later this week or next, I hope.
I also will be replacing the railing from wood to white vinyl. The previous owners of my little inn replaced the railing on the back porch, so I’ll be using the same material for a consistent look. Plus, it will be much more durable and sturdy than what I currently have. And yes, the horrible rust stained outdoor carpet will also be replaced. Everything is just a hot mess right now.
Next up, with my other porch changes, I decided to paint all my metal patio furniture white instead of black.
I have a table, four chairs, a rocking chair and two additional plant stands to paint. Wow! While, I didn’t hate the black, the white just brightens up the space. So clean and fresh! I’m so glad I decided to paint.
I also have a vintage metal glider from my grandparents that needs painted. I’m thinking about calling local body shops to see if they will paint it for me. It’s just a project I’m not prepared or equipped to handle. Has anyone painted a large metal glider before. I’d appreciate any advice.
I also finished up a landscape lighting project I started last year but didn’t complete due to cost.
This is the set of lights I choose to use. I got them at Home Depot. This set includes the main power unit, the electrical cord and four spot lights.
I then purchased these accent lights from ebay.
It conveniently started raining this afternoon when I had the time to take some pictures. I think I still need a couple more accents lights and then I have to bury the electrical cord. Once all that’s done I’ll share some more pictures.
As much as I love the internet and the doors it has opened for me, it was amazing to step away from it this weekend and just live. Do you know what I mean?
I also have been running/walking about five miles each day. I even have a little sun tan going on. In March!! Unbelievable. Plus, I lost another pound. Yay!
What exciting things did you do this weekend?
