One Accessory, Three Ways

*The giveaway has ended. Thanks for entering! Congratulations to Sam P!

One of the things I love about blogging is the amazing people I get to meet and become friends with. Because of that, I’m a huge fan of collaborating with other bloggers. Collaborating not only challenges me, but also allows me to share these awesomely talented friends with all of you.

Stacy of Not Just a Housewife has started a new series she’s calling Styledx3. The idea is, give three bloggers the same product and see how each person styles it. Pretty fun concept, right? I’m always looking for creative ways to use accessories (plus I think Stacy is pretty fabulous) so I was honored and excited to participate in the inauguration of Styledx3. Sarah of Sarah M. Dorsey Designs is joining this first challenge as the third blogger.

Stacy gifted each of us with this decorative pyramid from the new Nate Berkus collection at Target. The styling was up to us.

I actually already had one of the pyramids (an instant favorite from Nate’s collection.) Before I even knew about the challenge, I had styled the piece on my entry table.

I would say this is the more traditional way to style this piece. The lines of the pyramid add such a great modern touch to my more traditional table display. Plus, it paired well with the white vase.

I love having a piece like this pyramid because it brings an odd shape or unique accent to so many different vignettes .

So, since I somewhat completed Styledx3 without realizing it, I decided to challenge myself to use the piece in a really nontraditional way. I thought it would look great hung on a wall so that’s what I did. Pop in flowers or a glass votive and it could easily become a vase or a candle holder.

Cute, right?

To hang it on the wall, I just pounded in a nail with a head on it. The top of this piece (when hung this way) isn’t flat, so it needs something to grip onto.

For the glass votive, I actually ended up taking the pyramid with me to the Goodwill and found a little glass vessel that fit in perfectly.

I added a splash of water, tucked in a few flowers, and voila – a modern wall flower vase. Challenge complete!

As I mentioned, you could also tuck in a candle if you wish. Just make sure to keep an eye on it while it’s burning.

So, how’d I do?

Now, as I mentioned above, I already had one of these pyramids and as much as the hoarder in me screams, “Keep both! You’ll never know when you need two!” I’ve decided to give one away. I’m also sweetening the deal by throwing in a $100 Target Gift Card.
