Tuesday night at 6PM was the start of the BHG Blogger Social. This was basically the entire reason I made the trip to New York City. After returning back to the hotel from a fun afternoon in the city, my Mom and I got ready for the event.
Thanks to everyone’s help both here, Instragram, and Facebook I decided on this outfit for the event. In the end, it turned out to be the perfect choice! So, thank you.
The event was held at Story. Which, you must check out their page and read all about them. A very, very cool concept. I won’t even try to explain it here.
Anyway, the reason for this blogger social was to celebrated the launch of Better Homes & Gardens September Stylemaker issue!
Before I even arrived to the event, I was super excited because one of my Instagram followers noticed my nametag on BHG’s Instagram feed. So much fun!
I was also spotted by my friend on the BHG Style Spotters Decorating Blog (which also details the event should you need more information). Do you see me?

Thank goodness I was smiling!
The blogger social was intended for lots of local NYC bloggers (and me). The panel for the evening consisted of the Stylemakers featured in the issue including Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan of Apartment Therapy, Suzanne McGrath of Good Bones Great Pieces, winner of HGTV’s Design Star Kim Myles, and BHG’s Executive Editor Oma Blaise Ford to discuss all things style. Stacy Kunstel moderated the Q&A. Superstars, right!?
The woman in fab animal print dress is Gayle Goodson Butler, the Editor in Chief of BHG. What an honor to meet her!
The event and Q&A was fabulous. The general theme of the evening was this idea of making design personal and achievable. To have fun with your spaces and let your personality shine.
It was so inspiring and really touched on the aspect of design that I truly love. I was so glad to hear these big names making the idea of decorating your home so down-to-earth, personal, and achievable.
If you haven’t made the connection yet, you may be wondering how in the heck I was invited to this event. Well, a few weeks ago you may remember I had the chance, with a few other bloggers, to speak to Kim Myles on the phone.
I spoke so highly of her and her passion for design, little did I know she was thinking the same thing about me! Talk about mind blowing, right!?
Kim and I spoke on the phone again after out initial interaction. I think we both realized that we were kindred spirits. Our passion and personalities are such a perfect combination! Thankfully, as a Stylemaker for BHG and one of the speakers at the event, I received an invitation. Amazing, I know. My brain still hasn’t fully wrapped around this awesomeness.

After the event, Kim invited my Mom and I out to dinner. Talk about the perfect ending to an unforgettable evening. Words can’t describe my appreciation and excitement. Unbelievable. Thanks Kim!!!!
Anyway, as I mentioned, Kim and I have been chatting on the phone and we have some big plans on a pretty amazing collaborative adventure. Yes, this is a part of the ‘things‘ I talked about a couple weeks ago. It is going to be epic!
That is all I can really say at the moment. I wasn’t even going to say that much, but when these interactions happened via Twitter I thought I could share just a little.
So that was the event! Needless to say, I am thrilled that I took the time to make this fantastic invitation a reality. It was priceless!
And a huge thank you to all the wonderful people at Better Homes & Gardens. The invitation was truly and honor and the event was fabulous!
Be sure to stop back tomorrow for Day Three and my final NYC post. Thanks so much for following along!
