I’m sure I’ve told you that I am not a reader. What I am, however, is a collector of books. As I packed up my home in St. Marys a few weeks ago, I boxed up a couple hundred books. And while I tried my best to donate or leave some behind, I could only part with a few.
Because I don’t spend a lot of time reading, much of my collection consists of cookbooks, entertaining books, and styling/home interior books. I suppose that makes sense given my profession. There’s also something about physical books that instantly brings me joy. They hold so much possibility and inspiration. Knowing a few friends/bloggers who have written books, I’m likewise aware of how much time, effort, and heart goes into them.
Yesterday, I was scrolling through my Amazon orders in search of something else when I noticed that a handful of books I had pre-ordered would be arriving this spring. Because I’m always interested in what others are reading and loving, I thought I’d give you a rundown of new books for spring that I’m most excited about.
The Pretty Dish – Jessica Merchant
Release Date: March 20, 2018
Jessica Merchant, the blogger behind How Sweet Eats, is releasing her second book, The Pretty Dish. It’s filled with 150 brand-new recipes, themed menus, party ideas, and projects. I love Jessica’s beautiful presentation and use of creative flavors. I’m sure this book will be a feast for all the senses.
The Minimalist Kitchen – Melissa Coleman
Release Date: April 10, 2018
Melissa’s blog is The Faux Martha. I had a chance to hang out with Melissa twice last year, and both times were a joy! She has as much heart as she does talent. Both are overflowing! If you’re not following her, do so immediately. The care, time, and attention she puts into everything she does lead me to believe that her first book, The Minimalist Kitchen will be nothing short of amazing. It’s packed with 100 wholesome recipes, practical kitchen tips, and the tools you’ll need to be an efficient and effective home cook.
Get it Together! – Orlando Soria
Release Date: April 17, 2018
I’ve been following Orlando (pronounced Or-lawn-do) Soria for many years now. He used to be Emily Henderson’s right-hand man but has found his own niche as a skilled designer and blogger. You can see more of his work on his blog, Hommemaker. In his first book, Get it Together! he’s combined humor and stunning design to help readers decorate their homes. I’m certain this book will make you laugh as you create a more beautiful space.
What’s Gaby Cooking – Gaby Dalkin
Release Date: April 17, 2018
I’ve been smitten with Gaby since I met her at a blogger event several years ago in NYC. Her joyful personality makes her fun to follow on Instagram. (She also has the BEST photographer, Matt Armendariz. His new kitchen is incredible.) I’m especially excited about What’s Gaby Cooking because it focuses on everyday California-inspired cuisine, which I always find to be colorful, light, and fresh. I’m also thrilled because her book tour will be stopping here in Pittsburgh. I won’t be missing that.
Magnolia Table – Joanna Gaines
Release Date: April 24, 2018
I’m hesitant to jump on the Magnolia bandwagon, but I can’t help myself. Joanna Gaines is so lovable (and talented)! I don’t know what to expect from the Magnolia Table cookbook, but my gut tells me it will be loaded with classic comfort foods, all inspired by farm-to-table and beautifully served. If that’s the case, I can’t wait to get my copy!
Getting Back to Happy – Marc and Angel Chernoff
Release Date: May 22, 2018
As a self-help book junkie, I’m especially excited about Getting Back to Happy from Marc and Angel Chernoff. I’ve subscribed to their email newsletter for years. Every morning my inbox has a little note of advice or a new technique for dealing with life’s tricky moments. I love their rock-solid guidance, so I’m predicting I will enjoy their newest publication.
