i can’t believe it’s monday already! the weekend flew by. did you do anything exciting? i’d assume not since you were glued to your computer and/or smartphone following along my with my sign making adventure. right?
thanks to all of you that responded to my my tweets and gave words of encouragement via my facebook updates.
the sign is pretty much done. i have to attached some sort of hanging hardware so i can attach it to the wall. it will reside in one of my guest rooms. that room is currently occupied. so, for now it’s sitting in my gift shoppe.
i did manage to take some photographs outside before the rain started. attempting to take pictures inside before it is actually hung on the wall was near impossible.
hopefully tomorrow (wednesday at the latest), i’ll have a full post with how i did everything. it’s going to take some time to go through 500+ pictures and put everything together. unfortunately, time is not on my side this week.
anyway, here is the sign in all it’s glory.
i’m really pleased with the way it turned out and it will totally make a statement in the room. there are a couple things i would do differently, but i think that happens with every project i make. and it’s a good thing! i’m always learning and trying new things. and for my first sign/artwork of this scale (8ft x 2ft), i think i did a pretty banging job.
and, as always, i do appreciate your opinions, so feel free to leave lots of lovely comments below.
i also added a new tab to my side bar …. FAQ (frequently asked questions).
at the moment there is nothing in there but i will be answering at least one of your questions at some point today so check that out later this afternoon. it’s a question several of you asked. but don’t get too excited since i assume you’re going to be slightly disappointed with the answer.
anyway, thanks again for following along with me this weekend! i really hope you like the sign and learned a thing or two along the way.
have a great week everyone! and don’t forget to make lots of beautiful places.
Wow it turned out awesome! It’s going to look great in one of your rooms!
Awesome! Love how the board shows through those gorgeous hues of color and your choice of a different font for “beautiful”! It truly IS. ~Lili
I don’t have Facebook or Twitter, so I’ve been *not so* patiently waiting for a glimpse of your sign. I LOVE it! I can’t wait to see it in one of your rooms!
wow! well done, pat yourself on the back. it’s fabulous! sharon
It really turned out nice! I have been working on some subway art in my head, and really wanted to use a vinyl overlay method, but you have inspired me to do it by hand. ALSO, I have changed my mind from a 1×4 size to doing my whole coat closet door! Thanks so much for taking the scariness out of it!
Lovely! It turned out amazing!!
I loved following your tweets along the way and I love the sign! So fun!

Hi Michael! I found you via Pinterest and think you have a pretty awesome blog 🙂 I always wanted to own a cozy inn too! Oh, and I studied in Florence for a semester so your “about me” page resonated with me too, because it was pretty incredible. Thanks for pinning a couple of my recipes so I could find your blog. Take care.

I love this! I am hoping to make one for my back porch soon! Much cheaper and more rustic than a canvas painting- what kind of paint did you use? And, if this were going outside would you just add a polyurethane coat to the top?
I love your work and thanks for sharing!!!!!!
