As promised last week I’m back today with my Living Room Design Board. I still don’t have all the pieces in place and I’m 90% sure some aspects of this plan are going to change, but the general idea/look of the board will remain the same.
What do you think? Did it live up to my ‘ Sun-dappled Global Jewel Tone Inspired Retreat in the Woods’ description? You can see it right?
Like I mentioned, I’m missing some important details like accent tables, window treatments, lamps, and more wall art. I just haven’t decided on those things yet. Bare with me. That’s why I’m calling this ‘Round One’.
Alright, let’s take a closer look…
The wall color is Shoji White from Sherwin Williams which will cover all the walls expect the wall around the fireplace. The accent color, which will cover the area that now has wall paper, will be Slate Teal from Benjamin Moore. I also have plans on hanging a nice size TV on the wall above the fireplace.
To the left of the fire place is a little nook. I’m going to create a bookcase/shelving. I waffled back and both between doing a built-in or a free standing unit, but ultimately decided on a shelf and bracket type system.

I really wanted to incorporate those wood tones in my colored pencil inspirational photo. I think this shelving idea will allow me to do that.
The light fixture is the Marmont Pendant from Serena & Lily. I am in LOVE with this piece. It actually just arrived in the mail yesterday. I can’t wait to get it out of the box! But I must paint first.

I had several ideas/options for lighting, but since this is a smaller space I needed something that had the right scale and wouldn’t hang too low. This was the perfect fit! Plus it added loads of sparkle and a little glam.
The painting is from my gift shoppe. I actually bought it for my Mom and I feel in love with it when I saw it. Now we both have it. I actually used it to pull a lot of the other accent colors into the room. The the quilt!

A quilt is a must in a living room. I think the colors in this are fabulous. I love the random and playful pattern. It will be perfect! Though, I’m a little unclear when I’ll find the time to make it.
Speaking of the couch. I love the one pictured in the design plan. Both the color and shape are brilliant, but I’m afraid it’s going to be too big. I need a couch or love seat thats going to be around 60 – 65 inches in length. This one is a bit too long measuring 74″ in length. In case you are interested it is the Vaughn Apartment Sofa from Crate and Barrel.

It’s the Madeline Chair from Urban Outfitters and is available in a multitude of glorious colors.
And lastly is the rug. I really wanted something in the navy/teal family and also wanted it to have a medallion style print. So this Modern Trellis Rug in navy from RugsUSA fits the bill.

I already have a plain berber area rug in this room so I may attempt some sort of painted treatment, but that’s to be determined.
So that covers the plan as of now. If starting is truly half the battle, I’m making some good process. In terms of actually work, this week I’m hoping to start patching holes, removing wallpaper, and filling in spaces between the moldings. Heading to New York soon is going to put a kink in my progress, but I’m in no rush. (Thanks for all the NYC advice by the way!)
So what do you think of the plan?
