Are you guys sick of seeing my office? I certainly hope not because I have a few more updates, and there’s probably going to be some more down the road. I know it’s taking time to get the office in shape, but I hope these posts offer inspiration and ideas for your next room makeover. Thanks for bearing with me.
As you may have guessed from the title of this post, I finally have shelves and curtains and that excites me greatly!
I opted for these wall-mounted bookcases from CB2. There are two of them. They couldn’t be more ideal for the space.
I quickly managed to loosely style them with a few pieces I had and some recent finds. When I ordered the bookcases, I also picked up this modern village set and these pinch bowls. Upon receiving them, I thanked my lucky stars I decided to order them because both are amazeballs.
The green and blue acrylic grapes were another “souvenir” from my trip to Portland. I’m also kind of obsessed with those.
I picked up this adorable mini-tree display from the Etsy shop 2 of 2. I’m just loving them. Although there are no more tree sets in their shop at the moment, Dan and Mer also make adorable little houses. You can check them out here.
Moving on to the curtains.
Originally I intended to make curtain rods from pipe and paint them gold. However, I dialed back my gold obsession a bit and went with these cast iron rods from Pottery Barn. They still give me that industrial look without all of the trouble of creating them myself. Plus, I had a gift card and a coupon so I got them at quite a steal. I also opted to buy the curtain rings from Overstock to save some dough. I’m really happy I decided to go this route because I love the look and quality of the cast iron.
For the curtains, I went with white. I really wanted something neutral and somewhat sheer for the space. This will help me control the light a bit when I’m taking pictures for the blog. I stumbled upon these Royal Velvet Ally curtain panels from JCPenney. I actually ordered a few different options, but ultimately fell in love with these. Besides being semi-sheer and not too bulky, they, drape beautifully and are machine washable.I mean, I couldn’t go wrong.
I do love the white as well. When this space is complete, there’s going to be a lot going on with fun accessories. The white panels provide a neutral background that won’t fight for attention. Because my radiators are directly under the windows, I won’t be able to use the curtains for privacy. I’m pretty close to the road and my neighbors, so I ordered some bamboo roman shades. I should have them up by next week so I’ll show them to you at that point.
The curtains are about 6 inches too long which means I’ll need to hem them up. Plus, they could use a good steaming to remove the wrinkles from beinig in the package. When I hem the curtains, I might add a border detail to the top, side, and/or bottom just to jazz them up a bit. I still haven’t made up my mind about that.
In other news, I’ve decided to paint my stools. I got this amazing gloss white trim paint from Glidden. I’m hoping to get the stools painted this weekend. I’m also planning to add a little gold detail to them. It should be fun! The gold will brighten up that work area and tie it in to the rest of the office.
As you know, the colorful round tray and bulletin board are DIY’d. The white trees and red houses are from the Threshold collection at Target.
I can’t tell you how excited I am to see this section of my office come together. During the next week I plan to work on the back part of this room. It’s been a little neglected. On Monday I actually ordered a fab rug and am crossing my fingers it will arrive before Turkey Day. I also have placed an order for a sectional, but unfortunately it won’t be delivered until after the new year, I’ll have to figure out what to use in interim for holiday entertaining, but I’m okay with that. I can’t wait to get this space dressed for Christmas!
What do you think of the latest additions to my office? What’s your favorite part?
CUUUUTE !!!! I am LIVING for that little white table in between the ficus tree and the Christmas tree ! Was it a vintage find or did you buy it somewhere??? If so can you help a design addict out 🙂
Great office, love the two white table/desks? Would you be able to share where you bought them.
Just what I need!
I just found your blog from browsing the CB2 fb page. I love the look of your office!! Could you please tell me what paint color you used?? I’ll continue to browse your blog now…
Thanks!!
Thanks for tipping me off to 2of2. Their products are adorable. Sometimes the simplest things are the most beautiful!
Wow, just wow! Love it all…BUT my favorite, well there is 2 of them! The pink dresser and the big calender! Please tell me where I can get that calender.
I made a huge chalkboard calender on my wall, but recently got a very cool Ballard’s hutch (although it’s still on the floor) it covers the chalkboard. Although honestly really never used it as a calender!
I’m a little obsessed with white as we live on the lake with dark floors and dark wood ceilings. Charming to the house, but a bit dark for this girl! So i also love all your white accents!

Love it!! I love all the colors you chose! Where did you find your awesome track lighting? I’ve been looking for something similar in my office and cannot find anything.
Hey Jamielyn!!! It’s from Pottery Barn a while back. I’m not sure if they still sell it. Hope that helps. Track lighting can look so ugly, but that fixture is great.

O.M.G!! Your office is AMAZING! It’s so light, and fresh, and gorgeous! (and I’m a country/cottage girl)
Well, that’s quite the compliment then! Thank you Debi!! 🙂

i love those curtain rods. I think they add some weight to the room! The white stools will look great! Good luck painting them as i know the legs are not the most fun things to do! Have a good weekend puttering!
Thank you Sharon. I’m so glad I decided to go with those rods too. They are perfect. And I hear you about painting. I’m hoping it goes well.

It all looks so good! I love the color of the walls mixed with the white shelves- so fresh. And I’m a little weirded out– that NB gold tray and cards against humanity? It’s like you’ve been in my house ;p
Hahaha. I have yet to play it yet. I’m hoping it’s fun! Thanks so much Caroline. 🙂

What a lovely, light-filled room! My favorite part is the table/island, but it is all so gorgeous.
Thanks so much Lori! The table/island is one of my favorites too.
Michael, I’d be thrilled to wake up every morning and work in this beautiful space you’ve created! It is so lovely! I’ve had my eye on those CB2 bookshelves for some time now….love them! Enjoy your new office! Keep on creating because you have talent!
It can’t tell you what a joy it is to call this space mine and work in it every day. I’m so thankful!

I was reading your post in my email so I got to the picture of the modern village and my first thought was that you’d better tell me where you got it. I’m in love! Do you think it would be weird to leave it up all year? Because I would want to if I’m lucky enough to get a set.
Love this whole rom, Michael! By far one of my favorite things you’ve done to date!
Hahaha. The village is beyond cute. I’m in love. You could certainly keep it up all year. There are a few holiday touches in the windows and things, but otherwise you may not even notice. Thanks for all there room love. 🙂

I love it all; favorite piece is the pink dresser!!!! And the Christmas Tree with all its wonder!!
That’s so funny. My BFF just told me that pink dresser is one of her favorite things in my house. I’m so glad I picked it up.

Michael I’m so in love with your new office space. From the color of the walls right down to your little white Christmas trees. Your track lighting is killer. I wish you could come help me with my sewing room.
Thank you for being so kind Karen. The space is really coming together. I couldn’t be more excited.
