Homemade Pineapple Rum:

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been infusing alcohol for years. I love a fruit- or herb-flavored liquor but often find that the ones available at the liquor store miss the mark. The flavor seems a bit manufactured or fake. (Spoiler alert: It probably is.)

While you certainly can’t recreate every flavored liquor at home, there are several varieties that you can, and this Homemade Pineapple Rum is one of them.

As I said at the beginning of this post, the process is super simple, but it does take a little time.

Simply add freshly cut pineapple chunks to a jar, top it with a good white rum, and then let it soak for 1-2 weeks.

Tips for making Homemade Pineapple Rum:

Use the best ingredients. Be sure to use a flavorful pineapple and a rum you enjoy on its own. The result of the infusion will only taste as good as the ingredients used.

Allow the rum and pineapple to sit for at least a week. For the best flavor, I recommend two weeks.

  1. Hey there. This will be my first time making homemade liquor. Unfortunately I can’t drink anymore, but I want to send 2 16oz masons with different liquors to my aunt and uncle on the west coast. I’m not sure just what they prefer to drink, but I do know a little. So this is my plan. One with 3/4 rum 1/4 everclear, pineapple, coconut, and caramel. One with same alcohol ratio as above, frozen cherries, red hots, and a dash of vanilla. Ok… Call me crazy. If you’ve done anything like this before, about how many red hots and shredded sweet coconut or coconut extract (if it exists)? Thanks in advance.

  2. Would you let it soak out on the counter or in the fridge, or does it really not matter? I’m fairly new to making my own drinks at home And I’m so excited to try this one!

  3. This sounds delicious. But, help me out here. Do you have any drink recipes to use with this flavored rum? I’m not much of a drinker (but, I want to be now) so I’m a little inexperienced in knowing what ratios of mixers to add to this rum.

    1. We have a favorite we call The Boat Drink
      1 jigger pineapple rum
      1 jigger white rum
      5 Oz Sprite
1/4 – 1/3 cup orange juice (according to taste)

Stir and serve over ice with a slice of orange

  4. I love the picture of you and you’re mother! Thank you for the wonderful peach cobbler recipe and making them in the mini loaf pans. That’s very clever and a great idea. I have used mini pie plates before but there is something different about the loaf pans. Best regards for positive results in whats going on in your life right now,.
