For over five years now, I’ve been using Google Reader as my place to read blogs. I follow over 200 blogs (that’s way too many), and it has made my life so simple. It’s become a part of my daily routine. For those of you who have no idea what Google Reader, it’s simply a website where you can subscribe to all of your favorite blogs and it delivers them to you in one place. Pretty amazing, right? Well, it was. As some of you may be aware Google Reader is retiring on July 1. Yikes.
So for those of you reading this post on Google Reader, I want to offer you some alternatives. And for folks who want an easier way to follow all of the blogs you love, I’d also like to give you some options.
Personally, I am devoting my love and recommendation to Feedly. It easily imported all of the blogs I follow to its platform. The layout is really clean and simple. You can read full posts. Plus, there’s an app for my iPhone and iPad. Sold!
I’ve also heard fabulous things about BlogLovin’ so you may want to check it out if that’s your cup of tea. You can also check out Flipboard, which I believe is a Mac-specific app. I really know nothing about it; I’ve just heard it pop up a few times in conversations.
Last, but certainly not least, if you don’t follow a lot of blogs, or just want to know when I post, you can subscribe to IBC directly. You can enter your email address and you’ll receive an email each day with the latest IBC post. So fabulous! There are also links in the sidebar and below each post to subscribe by email if you wish to do so.
I’m curious, now that Google Reader is going away, what platform will you use to follow your favorite blogs? Let me know in the comments.
Hope you are all having a splendid weekend!
