i did it! after months of this fabric sitting in my cupboard i finally made my curtains. and there’s even some leftover fabric for a pillow or two! yay.
so … what do you think?
i love them.
the process of sewing them was really smooth. i did learn a few things for the next time i made curtains. but there is no tutorial here. i’m just lucky they are made and hung. i loosely used this tutorial and this tutorial as a guide.
and they are not perfect.
but perfect is overrated.
i love that i made them.
i love that they are original and that no other house in this whole world has curtains like these. there’s something to be said for that.
and i still love this fabric. and now i get to look at it everyday.
and for those of you that have a sewing machine that’s still in a box … or unused. don’t be afraid. trust me. if i can do it. you can do it.
and besides … what do you have to lose.
*UPDATE* the fabric is an antique store find – totally vintage.

Gorgeous!
Such elegance, Michael! You certainly have an eye for decorating and these curtains add just the right touch to your landing windows. Versace, move over!
Really great job! What did you use as a backing? I needed extra insulation so I used canvas drop cloth as my back. Your fabric is lovely and you really did well. Very stylish and the best part? Bragging rights that you did it! Go you!
i love the curtains! great fabric, and I certainly can’t tell that they are not perfect.
I’m from philly area too! cooolll. 🙂
Great job….just lovely! I can tell…you are having fun now! Love your blog…just signed up.
very very nice!
They are beautiful, you should be so proud 🙂
I totally love that floral fabric! And what’s prettiest about it is the unusual color combo. Not your any-old-usual-flower-colors colors!! 🙂 You did great.
You did a fantastic job! The look so stunning and really finishes the space so nicely. Love the fabric.
Gorgeous, for real. I can’t believe THIS is the first thing you’ve made. Really? Can’t you do something mediocre-ly? You are giving me a complex. I’m not sure that I could handle curtains (I hate sewing large things) and I’ve been sewing for a while.
Okay, I’m over my pity party. The curtains are amazing. The colors are perfection.
Wow! I adore the fabric. They look great!
Love the fabric – it has very vintage colours. Well done on sewing them yourself.
Your curtains are BEAUTIFUL!!! Great fabric choice!
Also… I LOVE the new blog header! 🙂
Your curtains are beautiful! If they aren’t perfect, you’d never know it!
Those look gorgeous! I love the colors in the fabric, the little touch of turquoise with the rusty red is one of my favorite color combos. Beautiful job!
They look perfect from here! Great job. I pulled out the old sewing machine recently too-fun!
These are simply stunning – Fabulous fabric too. You’ve done a fantastic job. Have a wonderful weekend ~ Stephanie Lynn
