i did it! after months of this fabric sitting in my cupboard i finally made my curtains. and there’s even some leftover fabric for a pillow or two! yay.
so … what do you think?
i love them.
the process of sewing them was really smooth. i did learn a few things for the next time i made curtains. but there is no tutorial here. i’m just lucky they are made and hung. i loosely used this tutorial and this tutorial as a guide.
and they are not perfect.
but perfect is overrated.
i love that i made them.
i love that they are original and that no other house in this whole world has curtains like these. there’s something to be said for that.
and i still love this fabric. and now i get to look at it everyday.
and for those of you that have a sewing machine that’s still in a box … or unused. don’t be afraid. trust me. if i can do it. you can do it.
and besides … what do you have to lose.
*UPDATE* the fabric is an antique store find – totally vintage.

i *love* these!! great job on them!! i recently made my own window treatments, and it’s a fantastic feeling to have something custom that you love 🙂 congrats!
I love it! Such inviting colors. Great job!
I agree-perfect is totally overrated!! Well said! I would glue those-you think would work? I can’t sew, but I am the queen of glue! Where is that fabric from? Fabulous! I think I need some. Thanks for the inspiration!!
(sorry for all the exclamation points-guess you are that awesome!) :0)
Beautiful 🙂
Beautiful pictures! They turned out great!
Sewing something yourself is SO satisfying. Great job! And perfect is totally over rated, although they look perfect to me! So charming!
The curtains are lovely. The fabric is great, and it ties everything together. Well done!
Your curtains are beautiful! They look they they came out of a Pottery Barn magazine! Good job sewing those. I love the little ring clips. I have those in my kitchen. Your blog is so inspiring!
Those are beautiful! I LOVE the fabric!
WOW! So clean and classy. Love it!
PRETTY!!! They look gorgeous! I’m so nervous about learning to sew, but when I do, I know I’ll be hooked!
Those are fabulous! I love the gray tones.
I LOVE them. You need to come to my house and make curtains!! 🙂
I love them… I have been tempted to buy a sewing machine and sew my own. I haven’t sewn anything since highschool but I think I can do it.
You have inspired me with your charm and sewing skills 🙂
Happy Friday!
Yes, yes! about there not being any other house with curtains like those. That’s the beauty of a handmade item. I really like the fabric you chose. So punchy!
they look so nice! You did a great job. Yay 🙂
Great job Michael and yes all of you can be jealous because as Michaels mom I can see them for real and wish that my curtains that Ive been trying to finish
forever were done.
They look beautiful!
I have those same curatin rods in my dining room…yay Walmart! 😉
I love the fabric choice Michael!!
And if someone is looking close enough at your curtains to know they aren’t perfect…kick ’em out! 😉
I like them very much and the best part is exactly as you said, you made them and they are not perfect. Altho they look so to me! Ann
