Hey there, friends! I hope each of you had an amazing weekend! With only a few weeks of summer left, this past weekend was a time for lots of play and just a little work. On Sunday, my friends and I enjoyed a shopping trip to HomeGoods, Target, and a few other stores. We also popped into one of our favorite wineries and had dinner at a brewery. Talk about a relaxing day!

Anyway, today and possibly tomorrow I’d like to show you a few things that I’ve been working on around the house. These things don’t deserve a full post, so I’m clumping them together.

First, a bit of a chandelier update. Last Monday I shared my newly painted bedroom and asked for some help in choosing a chandelier for the space. Due in part to your response and my love of gold, I opted for the gold capiz chandelier from West Elm. I decided to install it Friday morning and share pictures here on the blog Friday afternoon. Well, as you may have guessed from no Friday post, I had some issues. I got the chandelier hung, wired, and secured. I then started unwrapping all of the capiz strands. As I was doing this, I thought that the capiz wasn’t looking quite right. It appeared more peach than gold. As I continued unwrapping, my suspicions were confirmed. Unfortunately, the online pictures of the fixture were a little misleading, and the actual light is more of a peachy / rose gold. Check it out.

Major frustration.

Although still beautiful, it was totally wrong for the space. Thankfully, the folks at West Elm are awesome and offered a credit refund for the chandelier. So the hunt for a light fixture continues. (Actually, I think I found a couple that I like. If you check out my latest BHG Style Spotters post, you might be able to guess which one I’m favoring.) More updates on that soon!

So, with no progress in the master bedroom, I thought I’d share a few of the updates in the guest room.

First up, I have bedding! After trying out several duvet covers, I finally found this one at Macy’s. I love it and think it’s perfect for the space.

I did encounter one problem though. Since the duvet is such a saturated color and it’s positioned right under the window, at certain times of the day, the sun reflects off the duvet cover and turns the entire room pink. To counteract this, I threw down a white blanket. It’s just temporary. I’m thinking of getting something more causal like this throw.

I also added a few pillows I picked up at HomeGood yesterday and started to accessorize the coffee table. By the way, HomeGoods has the best pillows. As with a lot of home-decoratingenthusiasts, I have a bit of a throw pillow fetish. I picked up these pillows for $16 a piece. And what I love about them is that they are filled with down (or faux down) so they are nice and heavy and shape-able (if that’s a word). You can get that nice karate-chop fold in the middle. It’s what pillow dreams are made of!

You’ll also notice a new rug in the space. I have such a hard time picking out rugs, especially online. However, I was immensely pleased with the pattern and colors of this one. I think it’s perfect for the room. It’s also super plush, so that’s a really nice bonus.

I am thrilled that this space is finally coming together. Hopefully. I’ll be ready to have guests over soon! Later this week, my plan is to get lamps in this room and add the coolest window treatments! I can’t wait to share them with you.

And because I’m sure folks will ask, the daybed can be found here, the coffee table here, and the gold pouf here.

There are more exciting things happening around here, so stayed tuned all this week for a new project and a few other fabulous updates.

Have a great week, everyone!

Love the position of the bed… Everything is coming together… You mentioned the table, pouf etc, but how about the source for the basket?

That was a HomeGoods find about a year ago. I believe Pottery Barn used to sell something similar too.

I actually ordered the rectangle version of that chandelier last week but I haven’t hung it yet–it came in 2 boxes and one box was delivered Next Day Air while the other part (the piece that attaches it to the ceiling) went Ground so it won’t be here for a few more days. Weird and frustrating! I haven’t unwrapped any of the capiz shells so I can’t tell if they are gold or more peach, but I know that on the website they definitely look very gold so I can see why you would be disappointed. I hope I like mine, because it was final sale, no returns! eek!

Gorgeous new bedding and rug. I love following the updates for this room. We have the rectangle capiz shell chandelier from West Elm but the shells are gray. I love how sculptural they are! Good luck with the hunt for the perfect chandelier. I am sharing this post (link and pic) with my readers on weekend reflections. Have a great weekend Michael!
