This week I’m recapping the best IBC posts of 2016. Over the past couple days I’ve shared my (and your) favorite recipes as well as some beautiful interior inspiration from the past year. Today I’m back with the best DIY projects of 2016.
Here on IBC, the term DIY covers home-related projects as well as crafty endeavors. Although I didn’t tackle any major home projects in 2016, I did post lots of beautiful, creative, and functional ideas to enhance the look of your space. Let’s dive in.
I kicked off the year with one of my favorite projects: these Brushstroke Painted Plates. What I love about them is that you can choose colors to go with your home decor or any special celebration.
Later I got quirky with my Beach Bum Terrarium. These miniature train figures make this tabletop garden something especial.
This was also the year of the serving tray as I created two DIY varieties. Trays add both function and style to a space, so I couldn’t resist. For the first tray, I quickly embellished it with a fun, coffee-themed stencil.
The second tray was born from just a piece of wood and paint. Its bold color and unique design make it extra special.
I also helped you get organized with these DIY Felt Cable Organizers. I still use mine any time I travel. Not only do cables stay neat and tidy, but finding the right one is no longer frustrating.
If you’re a traveler like me, you might also like this no-sew passport cover. You’ll never guess what it’s made from.
I already have visions of spring flowers in my head, and it’s still the dead of winter. This Vertical Herb Garden (made from an office organizer) was an IBC favorite.
Looking to relax more in 2017? Try whipping up a collection of these homemade bath bombs. I couldn’t believe how many visits this post got over the holidays. They obviously make a great gift, too!
As autumn approached, I was excited to share creative seasonal projects. This tag banner from my Fall Home Tour is super simple to make and can be used for any season or celebration.
Speaking of fall, these Halloween Paint Can Decor ideas were an instant hit! I think “I’m here for the boos” was the most popular! It’s clever and functional.
For the holidays I wrapped up my DIY projects with this wood bead garland. What I love about it is that by simply changing the color of a few beads, you can make this unique decorative piece work all year long.
I also had fun using a new product, Shapecrete, to make these modern ornaments out of concrete!
That’s a wrap on 2016 DIY! I hope you enjoyed all of these crafty ideas I shared here on IBC throughout this year. Did you try any of these projects yourself? Which was your favorite? Also, what are some projects you’d like to see me tackle in the coming year?
