August in a Nutshell

Happy Labor Day! I had intended to take today off, but then I thought it would be fun to do a little recap of August. I’ve really never done monthly recaps here on IBC, so if you hate them, let me know. I just figured I could catch you up on anything you missed during the month. Plus, it’s a way for me to look back on the things I’ve accomplished recently. I don’t know about you, but time seems to be passing so quickly. Often, I feel like I’ve done nothing. Stopping to reflect on what’s been happening is probably a good thing. Right?

Around the house, I managed to start and complete a few projects. I finally got my barn doors painted, hung a chair in my office, and made some progress in my guest room including hanging curtains. I also wrapped things up with my living room gallery wall and finally decided on curtains for my bedroom! Woot. Woot. In addition, I began my basement stairwell transformation. I’ll be sharing the completed paint job with you on Wednesday.

In the kitchen, I whipped up some delicious goodness. I started off with these Bacon Wrapped Jalapeño Peppers, then moved on to Buffalo Chicken Zucchini Boats. For dessert I continued A Year of Pie with these adorable Berry Cup Pies. Then, to finish off the month, I made one of my new favorite desserts – this Chocolate-Peanut Butter Cake. Finally, to wash everything down, I threw in an early taste of fall with this Caramel Apple Martini.

And that wraps up August! What was your favorite post of the month? What do you want to see more of? Let me know in the comments.

Hope you all had a fun and fabulous long weekend.

Whew! You must really feel a sense of accomplishment but I feel like a total slacker:) I love the recap. I’m always hunting around to get a second look at something and this makes it easy for me.

I love the recap. Wow it’s a good thing August had 31 days. I can’t believe how much you got done and cooked great stuff to boot. When we consider the time it takes to make the decision, get the materials/goods needed and then actually do the work it is even more amazing. Energizer should be one of your sponsors, heck with that sluggard bunny.

ADDITION: I forgot about the time it takes to take the pictures and write the blog. Whew.

I like the recap, too. My favorite post was the gallery wall, and I would love to see more posts about your decorating and lifestyle processes, I admire your taste and need help in those areas. Thanks for asking!

I love the recap too! I am in London, UK and life is so hectic that a recap is great. Also need to think of stopping and reflecting too!

    I enjoyed the recap.

Hm, it’s hard to choose my fave, but I guess I’ll go with the two things I’m considering doing. The gallery wall and from the food, the mini pies.

I love the recap! Although with all that painting and accomplishing and cooking you did I’m starting to feel a little unaccomplished myself ;0) All I did was label my DVD bins and run a couple of times bahaha! 🙂

Michael, I love the idea of a monthly recap. It’s such a pleasure to see your accomplishments in one place. I’m particularly interested in your decorating so I really enjoy a recap of what changes you’ve made to your house . . .

Love it all! Can you tell me the wall colors you used in the living room (with the pictures) and in the phito with the door. Thanks!
