Combine the flavors of summertime to make Homemade Strawberry Basil Infused Vodka. It’s a delicious addition to your spring and summer cocktail recipes.
I love using flavored liquor to make special cocktails, and I especially enjoy creating my own fruit-infused liquor, such as this Strawberry Basil Infused Vodka.
Strawberries are plentiful right now, so it’s the perfect time to whip up this Strawberry Basil Infused Vodka. In case you haven’t tried your hand at making fruit-infused liquor, I recommend doing so for several reasons.
First, you can use fresh, delicious, and natural ingredients, such as strawberries. My guess is that most of the manufacturers’ flavored liquors aren’t infused with fresh fruit.
Secondly, you can go crazy with flavor combinations that you aren’t likely to find in any store. This strawberry infused vodka is just the start of a lot of infusion fun.
And finally, as you’ll soon discover, the process is simple. Put the strawberries in the vodka, wait a week or two, and you’re in business.
Besides a little patience, the most important things you’ll need are quality ingredients. Choose fresh strawberries that are ripe but not overripe. And although you don’t need top-shelf vodka, buy a brand that you would actually drink.
Now it’s time to infuse! Let me walk you through the recipe.
Place the quartered strawberries and basil leaves in a large, air-tight container. Pour the vodka over the strawberries and basil, covering them completely. Seal the container.
Allow the berries and basil to soak in the vodka for one week. Lightly shake the container and turn it over every day or two.
After the infusion is complete, drain the vodka from the strawberries and basil and store the infused vodka in an air-tight jar in your refrigerator for up to three months.
Strawberry and basil go together like peanut butter and jelly, so this combination is delicious. If you like making your own flavored liquors. You should try this recipe for Homemade Pineapple Rum!
Now that your Strawberry Infused Vodka is ready, it’s time to add some of it to your favorite summer libations.
Cheers!

In the summer, there’s nothing better than dining al fresco with family and friends. That’s why today I’m going to show you a few ideas for creating a beautiful backyard table setting on a budget!
It is so exciting to finally have a home with a large outdoor space. As you can imagine, my brain has gone into overdrive with ideas for outdoor living and outdoor entertaining. While I will have lots more for you over the summer, I thought a backyard table setting might be a great place to start.
This post is sponsored by TIKI Brand.
Backyard Table Setting on a Budget:
This year I am honored to be working with TIKI Brand to share creative ways to add style and ambiance to your outdoor life. I’ve had a bunch of fun working with and styling their TIKI Brand Table Torches. If you remember, I used several of them on my apartment balcony. They are a simple and beautiful way to add a natural flame to your outdoor spaces.
So let’s get into how I created this backyard table setting on a budget!
In the interest of full disclosure, I took these photos in a park near my apartment. However, these ideas are so versatile you could recreate this backyard table setting anywhere.
Thinking about how I wanted to style this table, I immediately realized I needed a table. I recommend something wood that folds. I found this particular table, and it worked perfectly. Not only does it have great style, but I can easily store it when it’s not set for dining.
For the chairs, I considered the same thing – what looks great and can easily be stored when not in use. You might be surprised, but these chairs actually stack. However, I do plan on using them on my patio when not styling outdoors.
And because we’re doing this on a budget, it’s important to make things multi-purpose. For example, you don’t need all new chairs to create a beautiful backyard table setting. Think creatively. The chairs from your dining table might work, or maybe you could make a bench from stacked cinderblocks and a sturdy board.
Using what I had on hand, the rest of the table came together quickly.
More Backyard Table Setting Ideas:
I’m not a fan of melamine dinnerware or plastic cutlery so I used pieces from my own kitchen. To me, this ups the specialness of outdoor entertaining. Plus, you don’t need to purchase and store extra dinnerware.
I should also note that I have simple and inexpensive white plates and glassware I know I can easily replace. Accidents are bound to happen, and I never want a guest to feel upset or embarrassed if something breaks.
Adding a little lighting to a table is the perfect finishing touch. Not only does it have an inviting glow, but the flicker of the flame also creates movement on the table.
This is where my TIKI Brand Table Torches come into play. I used two of the Mixed Material Votive Table Torches because the design works perfectly with the rest of my table.
Besides the design, I love that TIKI Brand makes a Clean Burn Torch Fuel which provides a brilliant flame without a smoky mess. It’s ideal for entertaining!
And finally, a touch of nature was required to bring this whole table together.
I purchased some inexpensive blooms to style this table, but I would encourage you to look to your own backyard for a botanical touch. For example, you could style your table with a few potted plants from your patio, a bouquet of cut blooms from your perennial garden, or cut herbs tucked into several small mason jars.
I also like to get creative with my flower vases. My go-to’s are white pitchers and mason jars. You can find them almost anywhere, and they work so well with a backyard/garden party aesthetic.
With that, my backyard table setting on a budget is complete and ready for food and friends!
For more details on the other products I used to style this table, you can visit the Outdoor Entertaining section of SHOP IBC.
You can also grab more information about the TIKI Brand products via their website. I’ve also pinned a few of my favorite ideas to their Pinterest Board here.
Happy outdoor entertaining!

It feels a bit surreal to be typing this, but let me welcome each of you to my new home!
My house hunting adventure has finally ended. I now have a new home here in Pittsburgh, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about it! *cue Leslie Knope dance* Today, it’s my pleasure to show you around via photos and a short video at the end of this post.
I have so much I want to tell you about this new house. I wish I could just invite you over for snacks and cocktails so we could chat about my plans and any questions you have about the space.
In order to keep this post a reasonable length, I’m only going to show you around and save discussions of needed repairs, future plans, and my current brainstorming for separate posts. Sound good? We have a lot to talk about. I hope you’re ready for all things house.
Without further ado, let me give you the Before Tour of my house!
As you can see, the house is a colonial with a mix of white siding and white painted brick. Although it has a Pittsburgh address, it’s located about 20 minutes from the city.
The house sits on two acres and has a big front yard, good-size backyard, and small wooded area out back.
The garage is underneath the house (specifically, the dining room and living room.) While the garage is considered a 2-stall, I’m calling it a 1 1/2.
The home also has a semi-finished basement. I didn’t photograph it for this post, but this is where the laundry is located. There’s also a funky wood-paneled bar and another big wood-burning brick fireplace. I’ll save that for another post.
Off the family room, there’s a small side porch. I love this porch. In fact, I’m sitting on it as I write this post. From here I currently see a bunny as well as a couple chipmunks “playing.” And there are birds singing away. It’s so peaceful. I’ve also been told that deer are often in the backyard.
Speaking of the backyard, there is a big deck on the back of the house. It was added in the 90s. It’s not my favorite thing about the house, but its unique shape is growing on me.
Now, let’s go inside through the front door.
You can head straight back to the kitchen or use the stairs to reach the second floor. If you turn left, you’ll be in the family room. Turn right and you’re in the living room.
In the living room, there’s a wood burning fireplace and big bay window.
There’s also a large opening which leads into the dining room.
Once in the dining room, a set of French doors open onto the deck. On the opposite wall, through the swinging door, is the kitchen.
From this perspective, you can see most of the kitchen. The dining room is straight ahead, and the front door of the home is to the right. There is a set of doors that lead to the deck on the left.
This is the opposite wall, which takes you back to the front of the house. The door on the right goes to the basement.
The kitchen also connects to the family room.
I’m in love with this room. The big fireplace, ceiling beams, and Dutch door (which provides access to the side porch I mentioned earlier) tugged at my heartstrings and ultimately sold me on this house.
On the back wall of this room, you’ll find a small closet and full bathroom (with shower). There’s even a wet bar behind those sliding closet doors. (You can see the kitchen peeking through next to those doors.)
That wraps up the first floor. Now let’s go upstairs.
At the top of the stairs, on the left, you’ll find the master bedroom. This room has a semi-walk-in closet and bathroom.
If you make a right at the top of the stairs, the first door on your left is the main bathroom which has a tub/shower combo and large linen closet.
Continuing down the hall, there are two bedrooms on the right, one on the left, and one at the end of the hall. (If I did my math right, that’s five bedrooms in all.)
There is also an attic, which can be accessed from pulldown stairs in the hallway.
I think that’s it! Your first look at my new place is complete!
Because I have a feeling someone may ask (A few of you did on Instagram.), I do not have specific paint colors used in this house at this moment. However, there are some paint cans lying around, so when/if I can figure out paint colors, I will be sure to share those with you.
Now, if any of that was confusing to you, I made a short video per your request. I just filmed it on my phone, so it’s nothing fancy or well-edited, but I agreed that a video walkthrough would be really helpful. You can watch that below.
VIDEO TOUR:
I know many of you are curious about my plans and ideas. I am too! Have no fear, I will take you along every step of the way so that you can see how this house becomes my home.
And this isn’t all about me. I hope to share ideas that you can implement in your own space too. So if you have questions, want specific advice, or need more details about something, please let me know. The more we can communicate, the better journey is for all of us.
One final note: I know that naming things can be kind of annoying and weird (I get it.), but I couldn’t resist giving my new home a name. I decided to call it Bayberry House. Bayberry is a super special name to me because my late-grandparents lived on a street with that name. Before they passed, it was my intention to purchase their home. Since life has had different plans for me, naming my house is my small way of keeping that memory and other memories of them alive.
Thank you so much for being a part of my adventures. I’ve never been more excited to take you with me into a new chapter of my life. Let’s do this!

Happy Tuesday! With lots happening in the past couple weeks, I thought I’d spill the tea on what’s new and notable in the life of IBC!
For starters, I closed on a house!
Yes, I’m officially a homeowner again. I’ve been sharing sneak peeks over on Instagram, and I’m hoping to do a full home tour here on Friday.
Although I’ve already snapped lots of pictures, I also want to share a video to give you an idea of how the house is laid out. I know many of you are curious, but please bear with me a little longer. My goal is Friday. (Saturday at the latest.)
I won’t be moving into the house until late June. As you will see on my tour, the hardwood floors need some work. The former owners pulled up all the carpet upstairs to show the hardwood. There are mismatched stains and markings from the carpets so it just makes sense to refinish the floors before moving in.
In the meantime, I will be slowly clearing out my storage unit and apartment, which should make move-in day a little less intense. Fingers crossed.
I suspect I’ll be talking about my new home non-stop because my mind has been in overdrive the past week. I want to do so much. It’s a bit overwhelming but in a good and exciting way!
I’m also trying to figure out the best way to include you in the process without being “in your face” with new house talk. Thank you for your patience and understanding as I navigate these waters.
In other news, last week I had a chance to hang out at Julie Blanner’s lake house for a blogger retreat. Not only is she a fabulous host, but it was great to connect with blogger friends and talk shop.
Blogging has changed a lot in the past couple of years. It’s an ever-evolving machine that shifts almost daily. Taking time to stop and evaluate what you’re doing and how you’re doing it has never been more important.
One of these days, I want to show you what is entailed in putting together a blog post. It’s a lot more involved than snapping a few pictures and writing copy. You might find the whole process interesting in case you’re thinking about starting your own blog or just like to be in the know.
Anywho, the retreat was a joy! Most of the details would probably bore you, although I will say that if you’re ever near Branson, Missouri, be sure to visit Top of the Rock. It’s truly a magical place with breathtaking views.
And finally, a couple blog updates:
1) I’ve updated the SHOP IBC page with new product selections as well as a section for outdoor living. There are some fantastic outdoor goodies on the market this year, so I was excited to incorporate that section into the shop.
2) As I mentioned in my last What’s the Tea update, I’m still working on behind-the-scenes blog post organization work. If you’ve been following along for a while, I’m sure you recognized the content in a few posts. Thank you in advance for your patience as I get things a bit more organized. Hopefully, you’re enjoying a new look at some previous postings.
I think that’s it for now. I hope all is well with you and that spring has brought you sunshine, blooms, and buckets of happiness.

My mouth waters just thinking about this Brie, Fig, and Prosciutto Crostini. Inspired by a charcuterie, the wonderful flavors of this crostini will delight you and your guests, whether you’re hosting a large gathering or an intimate dinner.
Brie, Fig, and Prosciutto Crostini:
If you’re searching for an appetizer that will wow your friends and family, this Brie, Fig, and Prosciutto Crostini is it. The sweet fig and salty prosciutto against the smooth brie are a heady combination.
As I’ve shared, a crostini is a tiny, open-faced sandwich that’s layered with ingredients such as meats, cheese, fruit, veggies, and spreads. If you ever need a beautiful, flavor-packed, all-occasion appetizer, look no further than a crostini.
How To Make Crostini:
To make this Brie, Fig, and Prosciutto Crostini, first I sliced a baguette on the diagonal and toasted the slices until they were just beginning to brown.
Once the toasted bread was cool, I spread it with a bit of fig jam for a touch of sweetness. Up next, was a slice of creamy brie followed by thinly sliced prosciutto.
I finished things off by topping the Brie, Fig, and Prosciutto Crostini with a few leaves of peppery arugula tossed lightly with olive oil and salt and pepper. Bellissimo!
Don’t these Brie, Fig, and Prosciutto Crostini look delicious? (I promise they taste as wonderful as they look.)
I love cheese and enjoy delighting others with classic and unexpected flavor combinations.
Here are a few more crostini varieties for you to try:
Inspired by a charcuterie, the wonderful flavors of this Brie, Fig, and Prosciutto Crostini will delight you and your guests, whether you’re hosting a large gathering or an intimate dinner.
Begin by diagonally slicing the baguette. Then, place the slices in a single layer on a baking sheet. Brush them with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place the baking sheet on the top rack of your oven and broil the bread 4-5 minutes until it is golden brown. Set aside to cool.
In a small bowl, gently toss together the arugula, olive oil, and a little salt and pepper.
Begin by spreading the toast with fig jam. Top with a slice of brie and prosciutto. Finish it off with a few pieces of arugula.

This Berry Watermelon Limeade Martini is made with homemade berry watermelon limeade, vodka, and St. Germain and is the perfect cocktail recipe for chilling out this summer season.
TGIF! As promised, today I’m back to share a martini recipe using the Berry Watermelon Limeade that I posted last week. That’s right, we are shaking up a Berry Watermelon Limemade Martini.
Berry Watermelon Limeade Martini:
I’m all about cocktails that take advantage of the fresh flavors of the season. Bursting with the summertime flavors of strawberries and watermelon, this martini does just that.
In case you missed it, you can grab the recipe for the Berry Watermelon Limeade here. You’ll need that to shake up one (or more) of these martinis. You can mix up the limeade recipe on a Monday and enjoy it all week.
How to Make Berry Watermelon Limeade Martini:
Whether you drink it on its own, add liquor to create a cocktail, make a refreshing salad dressing with it, or use it to shake up one of these martinis, it’s handy to have a pitcher prepared and waiting in the refrigerator when you need it.
As you’ll see below, I recommend straining the limeade with a fine mesh sieve before using it for a martini. This will remove any pulp or seeds, giving you a smoother and more attractive cocktail.
Some of you might remember that I’m a big fan of St. Germain. I’ve been talking about it here on IBC for years now. If you haven’t yet picked up a bottle, I hope this recipe will give you the nudge you need.
One more thing: In case you prefer gin over vodka, you can easily substitute gin in this recipe.
That’s it, my friends. You can make this refreshing and flavorful summer cocktail in just a few quick and easy steps. Oh, and if you like those gold cocktail picks (aren’t they beautiful) you can find them here. (affiliate link)
Give this Berry Watermelon Limeade Martini a try and let me know what you think.

This recipe for Blue Cheese, Pear, and Honey Crostini makes my tummy happy. The pear slice and drizzle of honey are the perfect complement for the blue cheese and toasted baguette slice.
Blue Cheese, Pear, and Honey Crostini:
You are going to enjoy making this Blue Cheese, Pear, and Honey Crostini and serving a platter of them to your guests. This appetizer is simple to put together, however, it will give our next party a gourmet touch.
A crostini is a tiny, open-faced sandwich. Like a sandwich, it’s layered with ingredients such as meats, cheese, fruits, veggies, and spreads.
To make a crostini, first, slice a baguette on the diagonal. Doing this creates larger, fancier-looking slices.
Then place the bread slices in a baking pan. I also brushed them with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkled them with salt and pepper.
Next, pop the slices under the broiler for 4-5 minutes. Slightly browning the bread not only adds flavor and crunch but also makes it a sturdy support for the toppings.
While the bread cools, gather and prepare your toppings for the Blue Cheese Crostini.
To assemble the Blue Cheese, Pear, and Honey Crostini, I first put a slice of fresh pear on the crostini. Then I crumbled on some blue cheese and added chopped walnuts for crunch.
Because blue cheese pairs so well with something sweet, a drizzle of honey came next. Finally, since I had fresh sage on hand, I added some of the smaller leaves.
What a cute and tasty bite! I’m in love.
Beyond being delicious and beautiful, one of the wonderful things about crostini is that you can make it your own. If you’re not a fan of the ingredients I used, swap them out for what you prefer. For example, an apple slice with cheddar would also be a wonderful combination.
Get creative with new recipes. The options are endless.

As an IKEA Ambassadör, I used a variety of their products to style my dining space with a beautiful table set for friends. I also updated my small balcony for dining al fresco. With a few simple touches inspired by nature, I was able to bring the outdoors in and the indoors out.
Let me show you around!
Decor Ideas for Indoor Living
After seeing the KRUSTAD plates at IKEA, I couldn’t wait to set my table. I was initially attracted to the lovely pale gray but was smitten when I saw the subtle pattern and textures.
With my dinnerware selected, I had fun styling the rest of the table setting. For my placemats, I used KVALLSFLY cork pads. They are a perfect size and add an outdoor textured look to the table. I then add in the OSTRON flatware set. I thought the black handles worked nicely with the napkins.
From there, I layered a napkin, small cutting board, and bowl. When I’m styling a table, I always think about what pieces I’ll actually need for the meal. Then I like to add creative serving pieces, which is why I chose these small PROPPMATT chopping boards. I thought they’d be great for presenting a cheese plate appetizer.
These IKEA 365+ wine glasses were also a welcome addition. Their unique shape means they could work for wine, water, or even a cocktail.
Because spring is here, I couldn’t resist including a few seasonal blooms. Paired together, tulips and lilacs are stunning.
As I hinted last week when I shared the recipe for these Mini Mason Jar Key Lime Pies, I also gave this table a little tweak for dessert time. This HJÄRTELIG dome is one of my favorite IKEA finds. While I think it would make a great terrarium, I also love it for serving.
My balcony, which is just opposite my dining space, got an update with this TARNO table and chair set. I’m thrilled that it folds up, allowing me to use it when I want to create an outdoor dining space in minutes.
I imagine this would be a wonderful area for a late night meal which is why I tucked in a few lanterns and candles. I love the magic and drama of flickering light.
To make this space more functional, I also planted fresh herbs in clay pots. I incorporate herbs in my recipes whenever possible, so having them at arms reach is super convenient.
To me, herbs are quite beautiful, which is why I frequently pair them with flowers when planting my container gardens.
As I often suggest, a large tray on the table makes it a breeze to transport food and drinks from the kitchen to the outdoors. I even whipped up a batch of my Berry Watermelon Limeade. It looks perfect in those wine glasses, don’t you think?
And with that, I’m ready for the season of indoor/outdoor living. Bring on the sunshine!
I hope you’re inspired to experiment with some of these ideas in your own space. Happy decorating!
Trees are leafing out, flowers are blooming, and lawns are greening up. That can only mean one thing: spring is finally here! Inspired by the season and the joys of indoor/outdoor living, today I’m sharing decor ideas for styling two spaces in your home. This post is sponsored by IKEA. As an IKEA Ambassadör, I […]
Can you believe it’s almost mid-May? If I could, I’d pause the clock at this point so I could do all of my summer prep and then enjoy the season when it finally arrives. Wouldn’t that be nice?
Since I can’t stop time, I thought I’d just put together a list of 6 Tips to Prepare Your Home for Summer.
Created in Partnership with Charmin.
1. Get Organized
There’s a reason for spring cleaning. After a long winter, it’s an opportunity to give everything a deep cleaning. And when you’re moving things to clean, it’s also chance to get organized.
On the next rainy day, take a few minutes to rid yourself of some of your excess stuff. Having less allows you to put everything in its place, which helps you to get and stay organized. I know that one of the biggest battles I had in my previous home was not having a designated spot for a lot of items. This made it too easy for things to get and stay messy.
And don’t forget about the garage!
However, when things are organized, returning items to where they belong is easy and quick, giving you more time to enjoy what you love most about summer!
2. Stock up on Essentials
It’s likely you’ll be hosting a party or an event at your house, even if it’s a small get-together. Before summer hits, I like to stock up on all the essentials: paper towels, paper plates, plastic cutlery, cleaning supplies, batteries, and toilet paper.
And speaking of toilet paper (which admittedly feels like a funny thing to say), I have a fantastic deal to tell you about, if like me, you’re looking to stock up.
There’s even an additional coupon that can be applied at checkout for a total savings of $5! I love a good deal!
Plus, 1 Charmin Family Mega Roll = 5+ Charmin Regular Rolls (based on the number of sheets).
And although you may think that’s a crazy thing to think about right now, running out of toilet paper is not something you want to happen when you have guests. Am I right?
Make a list of all your essentials and plan ahead!
3. Be Party Ready
When you’re stocking up, get yourself party ready, too!
-Keep lots of beverages and snacks on hand for impromptu gatherings.
-Make sure the grill is clean and has plenty of propane.
-Clean the outdoor chairs and cushions.
-Check outdoor lighting and candles. Purchase a new lighter.
-Pick up a few outdoor games to entertain guests.
-Stock up on bug spray and sunblock.
Also, take a few minutes to clean and freshen up your entryway. This is often people’s first impression of your home. A thorough cleaning, a couple potted plants, and a pretty wreath go a long way!
4. Invite Summer Indoors
Another way I like to prep my home for the summer is to bring the outdoors in. I do this by picking up a few new indoor plants, creating a little herb garden in my kitchen, or cutting a few blooms from the garden to style the coffee table.
This is also the time to clean all your window and door screens. You want to make sure they are ready for those beautiful days when you want to let the fresh air in.
5. Do Preventative Maintenance
These might be the least fun things on your “Get-Ready-for-Summer List,” but they might also be the most important.
Take time now to inspect the following:
-Air-conditioning unit(s)
-Lawn equipment
-Hot water tank
-Outdoor grills/fire pits
It’s especially important to check out things you haven’t used during the winter to ensure they are functioning properly. We all know how frustrating it can be to have the air-conditioning break down on the hottest summer day. Prevent what you can and then plan ahead in case of a problem.
6. Dress-up Outdoor Living Space
Since the warm and sunny days are an invitation to spend time outdoors, spiff up your outdoor spaces for maximum function and comfort.
Does your deck or patio need to be cleaned or re-stained? Do it now while the weather is still mild and before you fill the space with furniture and plants.
Pillows, cushions, and throws add comfort and style. Or maybe you enjoy dining al fresco? Set up a table and dining chairs. Get ready now for the season so you can enjoy the summer months to their fullest.
And that’s it, my friends! I hope my list of tips for preparing your home for summer is helpful.
While I’m certain there are many more things you can do to plan and prepare, start with these so you’re ready to relax and make a summer full of great memories! (And don’t forget to stock up on that Charmin!)

This recipe for Mini No-Bake Key Lime Pie in a Jar just might be one of the cutest summer desserts ever. With their rich key lime flavor, graham cracker crust, and whipped cream garnish, these little pies will hit the spot after a mid-week dinner or at any summer celebration.
If you’ve been following IBC for a few years, you’ll know I have a thing for mason jars. That’s one of the reasons I’m excited to add this Mini No-Bake Key Lime Pie in a Jar recipe to my recipe collection.
No Bake Key Lime Pie:
I’ve also had these pies on my “To-Make List” for a while. They turned out so cute and delicious that I could hardly wait to photograph them and give you the details.
How to Make No-Bake Key Lime Pie:
I used these four-ounce mason jars as I think they are the perfect size for a little dessert. That amount is enough to satisfy my sweet tooth without giving me a stuffed feeling. However, you could certainly make them larger if you wish. I think these 8-ounce jars would be a fine option. I love their shape.
As their name says, these mini key lime pies are no-bake which makes them ideal for summer. Not counting the chill time in the refrigerator, you can whip these up in about 20 minutes.
Also, as much as I recommend freshly squeezed citrus juice, when it comes to key lime juice, I don’t mind the bottled version. (This one is my favorite.) The alternative (juicing a dozen key limes) is both tedious and expensive.
Speaking of key lime juice, feel free to use a little more or a little less than this recipe calls for. I like the flavor so I went with a bit more. However, if you prefer something more subtle, start with 1/2 cup.
No matter how you make these sweet little No-Bake Key Lime Pies in a Jar, I think you’re going to love them.

Freshly whipped cream and halved lime slices for garnish
Instructions
In a bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and sugar. Add a heaping 1 tablespoon of the mixture into 12 mini mason jars. Pack tightly with the back of a spoon or wine cork. Chill for at least 10 minutes.
In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, whip the heavy whipping cream and vanilla extract until stiff. Transfer to a bowl and set aside.
In the same bowl of the stand mixer (this time fitted with the paddle attachment), beat the cream cheese at medium speed until smooth. Slowly add the sweetened condensed milk and beat again until smooth. Add the whipped cream and mix until combined.
Slowly add the key lime juice to the mixture while beating at a low-medium speed until smooth and creamy.
Add the cream cheese filling to a piping bag or plastic baggie. Snip off the tip from the baggie and pipe the mixture into the mini mason jars on top of the graham cracker crust. You should be able to fill each jar slightly more than three-quarters full.
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until firm.
Store in the refrigerator for up to three days. Before serving, garnish with freshly whipped cream and a half of a lime slice.

A new season is here and that means it’s time to take the indoors outdoors That’s why today I’m sharing 6 ideas to add big style to a small balcony.
This post is sponsored by TIKI Brand.
Balcony Styling Ideas:
Even though I would love to have a large outdoor space/deck, I’ve had a lot of fun decorating my apartment balcony this past year.
It’s kind of funny because if you look up from the street, my balcony stands out from the others in my building. I’m happy to say that it looks special and welcoming even from below.
In preparing for the new season, I’ve teamed up with my friends at TIKI Brand to add life and ambiance to my little outdoor space. This might come as a surprise because when you think of TIKI Brand you probably think of the tall torches you stick in your yard. However, they offer so much more than that.
I’m a big fan of their table torches (which you’ll see in this post). With their flickering flame, they bring a welcoming ambiance to any location, even my balcony. You can check out all of their products here.
So what can you do to add big style to a small balcony? Let me walk you through my six simple steps!
Add Big Style to a Small Balcony
1. Keep it Cozy
The nice thing about a small space is that it’s easy to make it feel cozy. Instead of having to fill a big area, you only need a few simple accessories to create an intimate feeling.
On my balcony chairs, I placed an outdoor throw and outdoor pillows. I got style and comfort in one simple step.
2. Plant Something
Bringing in a few flowers or plants is a must for me. Because this space is tiny, I chose smaller planters in varying heights to spread a little bit of nature around the entire space.
If you are on a balcony or deck and have neighbors below, be sure to add liners to all of your pots to prevent any dirt or water dripping on their space. (I learned this the hard way.)
More Balcony Styling Ideas:
3. Create a Glow
Whether indoors or out, lighting can complete a space and set a mood. For outdoor spaces, I love using a natural flame whenever possible. Since I can’t set up a fire pit on my balcony, these TIKI Brand Table Torches are the perfect option for me.
4. Make it Functional
At the end of the day, your outdoor space must work for you. Think about how you’ll be using it. In the morning, I drink my coffee and flip through a magazine on my balcony. In the afternoon, I work on my laptop. When evening rolls around, I enjoy sitting out there, chatting with a friend.
To serve all of those purposes, I only needed two chairs and a couple of well-placed side tables. This gives me a spot to set my coffee or my laptop. I also selected chairs that would be comfortable for an extended time.
5. Include a Pop of Color
You know me – I need a pop of color. I tried to be smart about where I added color in this small space. I opted to keep the larger, permanent things neutral: black and white pots, black table, black and natural chairs. That way, I can easily change the rest with the seasons.
When fall arrives, I can quickly add mums to my pots and a cozier throw to my chairs. This past winter, I pulled out all of my plants and filled the pots with fresh greens and lights. It was perfect for the holidays.
6. Add a Touch of Quirkiness
I always like to bring something into my designs that will make people smile. For my balcony, I thought this hat that reads “Do Not Disturb” was perfect. It fits into my decor so well, and I’m betting people will have fun trying it on and snapping a selfie.
With those six quick tips, you can create big style in any small space. What do you think?
Now, get out there and start decorating! I’m going back to my coffee and magazines, so please “Do Not Disturb.”

These Raspberry Strawberry Margaritas are a scrumptiously fruity summer cocktail recipe. Strawberries and raspberries get blended together to add a sweet flavor to the classic margarita!
Raspberry Strawberry Margaritas:
If you’ve looked at the calendar, you probably know that this weekend is Cinco de Mayo. It’s actually quite rare for the holiday to fall on a Saturday.
In fact, we’ll have to wait until 2029 for next the Saturday Cinco de Mayo! (Now you have one more reason to celebrate with these Raspberry Strawberry Margaritas.)
Lately, I’ve been digging the classic margarita. Not that I’ve been drinking it a lot, but there’s a wonderful Mexican restaurant within walking distance of my apartment.
They make a great margarita and have delicious tacos, too. I’ve found that a margarita and a couple tacos can turn any crummy day right side up.
With summer on the horizon, I thought I could take that classic margarita recipe and jazz it up with a blend of raspberries and strawberries. It’s almost berry season, so I’m always excited to use the fresh fruit any way I can.
Besides the taste, what I love about this recipe is that it’s ideal for entertaining. You can mix up a big pitcher in advance and then just pour the margarita mixture over ice when you’re ready to serve it.
It’s so easy, and your guests can help themselves. This means more celebrating for everyone, including you!
What do you need to make these Raspberry Strawberry Margaritas?:
Raspberries
Strawberries
Sugar
Lime juice (freshly squeezed!)
Tequila (Sauza is my favorite.)
Orange liqueur (I prefer Cointreau.)
To garnish these, you’ll also need ice, assorted berries, mint, lime wedges, and kosher salt.
You can get as fancy as you’d like with the garnish. I prefer to go a bit over the top. That’s why I’m using a variety of fresh berries skewered on a stick with a piece of mint for color. Oh, and you can get the margarita glasses I used here. (affiliate link)
Voila!
Who could say no to one of these margaritas? Not me or any of my friends.
Even if you don’t celebrate this weekend, I hope you’ll pour yourself one of these.
If you are looking for more creative and delicious ideas for Cinco de Mayo, take a peek at some of my favorites by clicking here. (I highly recommend the Mini Margarita Cheesecakes. The garnish is just too cute.)

In a blender, puree the strawberries, raspberries, sugar, and lime juice. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve. Add the tequila and orange liqueur to the berry puree. Stir well and transfer to a pitcher.
To serve, run a lime wedge around the rims of six glasses; then roll the rims in kosher salt. Fill each glass with ice and pour the margarita mix into each glass. Garnish with fresh berries and a sprig of mint.

This California Cobb Pasta Salad combines so many of my favorites: avocado, bacon, blue cheese, and pasta! And it’s a flavorful salad that’s perfect for summer entertaining.
California Cobb Pasta Salad:
You guys, I’m freaking out! The temperature here has gotten up in the 70s or 80s every day this week. Could it finally be spring!? I think so. Let’s celebrate with this California Cobb Pasta Salad.
As you may know, I love me a good pasta salad recipe. Over the years, I’ve shared several here on the blog. (You can find them all here.) To kick off the 2018 spring and summer season, I thought it’d fun to share another.
How to Make California Cobb Pasta Salad:
One of the things I love about this particular pasta salad is that the dressing is so light and fresh. As much as I enjoy creamy mayonnaise-based pasta salads, sometimes they can feel a tad heavy.
Made with only extra virgin olive oil and white balsamic vinegar, the dressing on this salad has great flavor without the heaviness.
I don’t know about you, but I’m also a huge fan of a cobb salad, so turning that into a pasta salad was guaranteed to be a winning combination.
The avocado is especially wonderful in this.
One quick tip: Add the avocado just before serving. As you probably know, avocado can brown rather quickly. So go ahead and mix all of this up; then toss in the avocado right before serving.
And if you need another quick tip, be sure to check out my secret for cooking bacon. I used that technique for the bacon in this recipe. I didn’t use as much brown sugar, but the sweet bacon definitely adds to this pasta salad!

Served with strawberries and graham cracker crumbs, this Cheesecake Dip makes a quick and easy impromptu treat or dessert.
Happy Monday, friends! If you’re looking for a tasty way to survive a manic Monday, I have the solution: Cheesecake Dip, strawberries, and graham cracker crumbs.
I don’t know about you, but I’m preparing for a couple months of craziness. With two work trips, going back home for Mother’s Day, and other exciting things on the horizon, I anticipate that May and June will be non-stop busy. Thankfully, most of the days are likely to be fun-filled.
Cheesecake Dip with Strawberries
I know I’ve said this times lately, but thank you so much for putting up with the plethora of recipe posts these past few weeks. Because I’m working on finding a new home, I have resisted spending big bucks or making a lot of significant design changes here in my apartment. Instead, I’m trying to save and plan for what’s to come.
However, I do have a couple little decorative things to share with you in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for those.
How to make Cheesecake Dip:
Anywho, with summer on our heels, I thought you might welcome a delicious go-to summer dessert recipe. I love recipes like this because you can whip them up quickly if you need a last-minute treat for unexpected guests.
I especially like this recipe because it takes something basic and makes it feel special. Instead of serving a standard dessert, it’s more like a build-your-own-cheesecake on a strawberry. It’s different and delicious!
This recipe is perfect for serving strawberries because together the flavors mimic strawberry cheesecake. However, you could use any kind of fruit. (If you’re serving a variety of fruits, though, I recommend my Easy Fruit Dip recipe.)
Cheesecake Dip with Strawberries:
To serve, set two bowls on a plate. Fill one bowl with the cheesecake dip and the other with graham cracker crumbs. Pile strawberries on the plate, and it’s ready.
To eat, dip the strawberries into the cheesecake dip and then into the graham cracker crumbs.
Fun and extremely tasty!
Like this sweet dip recipe? Here are a few more tasty ones:
Whether it’s in your recipe arsenal for a crazy Monday or an impromptu summer get-together with friends, I hope you enjoy this Cheesecake Dip with Strawberries as much as I did!
In a bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the sour cream, confectioners' sugar, milk, almond extract, and vanilla extract; mix until smooth.
To serve, add the cheesecake dip to one bowl and fill another bowl with the graham cracker crumbs. Serve with whole strawberries for dipping. To eat, dip the strawberries into the cheesecake mixture and then into the crumbs.

It’s been a couple weeks since I’ve shared a “Buying a House with IBC” update, so I wanted to take the time to circle back with you about my process. Today I thought it’d be good to talk about how you know when you’ve found “the one.”
Through the ups and downs of this house hunting process, many folks have told me reassuring things like, “You’ll just know when you’ve found the right place.” “It didn’t work out with that one because there’s a better one out there.” “When you find ‘the one,’ you’ll know why the other ones didn’t work out.”
I’m certain there are situations in which people have ended up in “the wrong home” for one reason or another. But the consensus seems to be that the right house will come along, and I’ve latched onto this way of thinking. It’s the kind of optimistic, forward-looking advice that I needed.
As I’ve been hinting for the past couple weeks, I have found a house!
Side note: The pictures in this post are not my new house. They are from a blogger event I attended in Texas. BUT, I did share a sneak peek over on Instagram of one of my favorite spaces in my soon-to-be new home!
I am ecstatic and beyond excited to share this news with you. The things involved in buying this particular house have been underway for about three weeks now, so I am at the point where I feel comfortable officially breaking the news. I have made it through the home inspection process, been officially approved for the loan, received an appraisal above my offer price, and have gotten past the threshold of possible things standing in my way. In a few weeks, barring a major disaster, I’ll have a new home.
I lost count along the way, but my guess is that I looked at close to 20 homes in person. I looked at homes in the city and outside the city. I looked at homes in areas I had targeted and in areas I wasn’t even considering.
Throughout the process, I knew within minutes (often seconds) of arriving at a house that it wasn’t “the one” for me. Sometimes it was tiny details, other times it was an overarching feeling, but I just knew in my gut it wasn’t “it”.
Surprisingly, the home I chose has been on the market since this past fall. However, I didn’t pay much attention to it because it was outside the area I was initially looking at, and it was priced a bit too high. However, in March I expanded my search, and by then, the price of the house had dropped.
I ended up visiting the house on my own during an open house. (My realtor was out of town.) After opening the door and taking one step inside, I got the feeling: “This is it.”
As I looked around the house, there were a couple things that didn’t match my required and desired list: the ceilings aren’t grand and high, and there’s no big kitchen island. However, even with those boxes not being checked, it felt like home.
The following day, I set up another showing and brought my realtor along. She’s been exceptionally helpful through this process, so getting her opinion on this property was important.
I also shared the listing with my mom and dad and asked for their feedback. With thumbs up from each of them, I moved forward with an offer, and after some drawn-out negotiations, I was able to get the house under asking price.
I decided to negotiate on the price because the house needs some immediate work, such as a new roof, wood floor refinishing, and new windows as well as extensive updating (new kitchen, new bathrooms). There were no current offers on the home so that helped my chances.
The home was previously owned by an older couple who lived there for over 30 years. While the home has been well cared for, the style and decor haven’t been updated in a long time. This was fortunate for me as parts of the house didn’t show very well. Thankfully, I could see the potential.
I’m holding off on sharing photos and other details, but I hope to give you a full tour once everything is official. After that, I’ll have plenty to share and keep you posted on. My mind is swirling with ideas.
One final note on Finding “The One”: Because there are millions of places in this world where we can live, I’m certain there are many homes that can be “the one” for you. However, as many people have told me over the past few months, “listen to your gut.” I also think it’s important to have patience and faith in the process. It wasn’t always smooth sailing, but the more I trusted it would work out, the better I felt.
Whether or not your home buying process (or life in general) is working out as you think it should, have a little faith and assume everything is happening according to plan.
More to come!
It’s been a couple weeks since I’ve shared a “Buying a House with IBC” update, so I wanted to take the time to circle back with you about my process. Today I thought it’d be good to talk about how you know when you’ve found “the one.” Through the ups and downs of this house […]
Well, friends, it’s official. This past Friday I signed the papers and sold my house in St. Marys.
If you are new to IBC (or just want a quick refresher), back in 2008, I bought a bed and breakfast called Old Charm. In 2013, I closed the B&B and used the entire house as my home.
Sidenote: For those of you who didn’t know, the name of my blog “Inspired by Charm” (which premiered in 2009) is based on the name of the B&B.
In June of last year, I decided to spread my wings a bit and move to an apartment in Pittsburgh. Although I hadn’t intended to sell my place in St. Marys, an opportunity to do so presented itself recently, and it was just too good to resist.
For the past six months or so, I’ve been hunting for a house here in Pittsburgh, and if you check out my Instagram post today, you can get a sneak peek at how that’s progressing.
As you might guess, selling my home (and previous business) of almost 10 years was bittersweet. However, as I’ve made this transition over the past year, I am confident that everything is working out as it should. And that, my friends, is a great feeling.
With the travel back and forth between homes and the ups and downs of selling and buying, this past year did not go as planned. And although at various points, it made me want to pull my hair out, things could have been so much worse. Most of the rough times were when I let myself get caught up in the downs and drama of life. Now I’m aware there was something bigger at work, and while difficult, this process was essential.
At the end of the day, I’m moving on to the next chapter of my life with joy, excitement, and anticipation. Even though it’s sure to have challenges, I firmly believe this new era will be bright, happy, and beautiful.
So, as I turn the final page of the Old Charm chapter of my life, it seems fitting to take a walk down memory lane. If you don’t mind, I want to share some reflections on my previous home. Obviously, there are dozens and dozens of memories, so I’m going to limit myself as much as possible.
I’d also love for you to join in. If you’ve been following for a while, please leave a comment below with your favorites from my previous home: favorite room, best makeover, coolest craft, tastiest recipe, and so on. It would mean so much to hear from you.
Let’s get to it …. (in no particular order)
The view looking into my dining room.
This was easily my favorite view in my entire house. It was almost magical. Not only does it look pretty, but it was so easy to photograph. The light almost always worked perfectly, and I was able to create many truly magical moments there.
I also have fond memories of this room because at one point I got to chat on the phone with Nate Berkus about it. In fact, he chose that gray paint color. I still love it!
The deck.
This house was located in downtown St. Marys so yard space was lacking. In fact, I didn’t have a yard.
Installing this artfully placed deck in the back of the house was one of the best decisions I made. It gave me space to create an outdoor seating area, have a small fireplace, and hang string lights.
100-year-old character.
I unofficially moved out on the 100th birthday of the house. (Not the exact day, but the year.) This old house solidified my love of older homes. I was enamored of the detailed/wide woodwork, all of the built-ins, the pocket doors, and the high ceilings.
Press.
My work in this home brought Inspired by Charm to the attention of others. Not only was my St. Marys home featured in several magazines (most notably the cover and a spread in BHG’s Christmas Ideas magazine), but it allowed me to work with many amazing brands and people throughout the years.
And I’m not telling you this to be braggadocios, but it makes saying goodbye a little easier. I gave this home so much, and it gave so much back to me. I’m especially grateful to have this blog as a journal of my journey
Lots of practice.
As I mentioned last week, I’ve been working on improving the backend of the blog, which means looking through old posts. Blogging was so different back in 2009 in some very good and some very bad ways. When I go back that far, my inclination is to be judgemental of my work. However, I’m forcing myself to take a different approach, and that has helped me realize how much I’ve grown and learned.
My photography has improved, my decorating skills have evolved, my writing has changed, and my overall style has shifted into something I’m actually proud of.
On top of that, I’ve learned some handy skills, including how to hang light fixtures, add molding, and even do minor plumbing.
This picture / view of my living room.
To this day, I still get a couple emails a month asking where this rug is from. (It’s from CB2, but they haven’t sold it since 2013.)
Anytime I would share this picture (or a similar shot on Instagram), it would get so many likes and comments. It was a beautiful space.
Okay, I think I’m getting a bit carried away, so I’m going to stop here. However, a few quick honorable mentions.
Thank you all so much for being a part of this journey. Whether you have been following along since 2009 or just joined yesterday, I am thrilled that you are here. I look forward to sharing my next chapter with you!

This Pineapple Mojito is a tropical spin on the classic mojito. Made with homemade pineapple rum and fresh pineapple, its bold flavor makes it a delightful cocktail for summer.
I can practically feel summer at my fingers tips. We’re so close. That’s why my mind has been on refreshing cocktail recipes like this Pineapple Mojito.
Pineapple Mojito:
There’s almost nothing I love more than stopping work early in the summer to hang out in the sun with friends and endless cocktails. Throw in a pool and a few tasty summer appetizers, and it feels like heaven on earth to me.
What I especially love about this recipe is that it uses my Homemade Pineapple Rum which I taught you how to make here. This flavored rum makes all the difference as it gives the cocktail a super fresh and natural flavor.
You could even go so far as growing your own mint for this recipe. (If you need a little herb garden inspiration, check out my DIY vertical garden here.)
How Do you Make a Pineapple Mojito?
Making this cocktail is simple. In a highball glass, muddle together the lime juice, mint, and simple syrup. (This is how most mojito recipes start.) Then, add a couple freshly cut pineapple wedges and lightly muddle again to crush the pineapple.
Next, add your pineapple-infused rum and a few ice cubes. Top with club soda and stir. That’s it.
All that’s left to do is to pull up a lounge chair, grab your sunglasses, sit back, and enjoy! Cheers!

Like a lot of folks, I relish garden-fresh tomatoes. That flavor of summertime is hard to beat. That’s why I’m always looking for recipes that make in-season tomatoes the star of the show.
This Mozzarella Caprese Crostini does just that.
Layered with mozzarella, fresh basil, spices, and a balsamic glaze, it’s essentially a cypress salad on a piece of crusty bread. What’s not to love?
Crostini is Italian for little crusts. It’s an appetizer made of toasted bread with toppings, such as meats, cheeses, vegetables, olive oil, and sauces.
The flexibility of the recipe is one of the things that makes it so great. Although my recipe calls for mozzarella, you can use cheddar if you prefer. Want things a little salty? Then toss on some capers. Make the recipe your own!
I don’t know about you, but I could make a meal out of things like crostini and bruschetta. Give me a glass of wine and good company, and I’m set. This is why these types of dishes make great party food.
Another thing to love about this recipe is that it comes together quickly. With just a bit of chopping and assembling, you’re ready. If you’re serving crostini for a party, you could even do much of the prep work in advance and then assemble right before serving.
It doesn’t get much easier than that!
Like this Crostini Recipe? Here are similar appetizers you may enjoy:
Begin by diagonally slicing the baguette. Then, lay the slices in a single layer on a baking sheet. Brush them with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Place the baking sheet on the top rack of your oven and broil the bread 4-5 minutes until it is golden brown. Set aside to cool.
In a small bowl, gently toss together the cherry tomatoes, basil, olive oil, and a bit of salt and pepper.
To finish, layer the ingredients on the toast. Begin with mozzarella, then add tomatoes, and finally, drizzle with balsamic glaze.

Happy Spring! Happy Mid-April! Happy Almost-Summer! (That last one might be a bit premature, but I couldn’t stop myself.) It’s been a hot minute since we last chatted, so I thought I’d pop in with a “What’s the Tea Life Update” and let you in on some of the things rolling around in my head right now.
Spring Fever:
This past weekend my mom came to Pittsburgh for a visit. She couldn’t have picked a better time. With the temperature getting into the mid-80s, it was glorious! And because we knew those warm days wouldn’t last, we took full advantage of them!
In addition to shopping, we walked around Highland Park, visited Point State Park, lunched in Station Square, and toured the city via the Gateway Clipper.
I’m also working on a fun indoor/outdoor post with IKEA, so we stopped in there for a bit of inspiration. Visiting IKEA on a Sunday was not my best idea. The store was buuusy! However, I did gather many great ideas, and I’ll be sharing those with you soon.
Goodbye Old Charm:
After what feels like a lengthy process, it looks as if I will close on my St. Marys house this Friday. As I mentioned recently, I said my final goodbye to my home over Easter weekend. It was bittersweet, but I know the place is in good hands, and I’m beyond excited about my new adventures! I’ll be pulling together a “looking back post” soon, so stay tuned for that.
Blogging Business:
I wanted to share two quick business-y things. First, I’m putting in a lot of behind-the-scenes work to make the Inspired by Charm website work better. Not only have I been doing what I can to improve site speed, I’ve been trying to make IBC more searchable with Google. It’s a lot of tedious and boring work that I won’t explain. However, it does include editing some older content. So, depending on how you follow the blog, you may see some familiar or random posts popping up here and there.
I mention this because it might appear as though I’m trying to trick folks into thinking old content is new content. That’s not my intent. However, if you do to see these posts, please feel free to comment on them, pin them, and share them with friends, as you would with any new post. The more you share and interact with any posts on IBC, the more it helps the blog grow. Thank you!
Second, I’ve also been putting a stronger focus on the Inspired by Charm Mailing List. If you’re not subscribed, you can do so here. I’ve been sending out three emails per week.
The first email (usually sent on Mondays) recaps a particular topic and shares links to posts both new and old. That email includes a bonus section in which I share things I’m loving that week. This section is exclusive to the mailing list. A second email (sent on Fridays) recaps the new posts that appeared on the blog that week. A third email (the day will vary) contains two posts from the IBC archives that I feel are timely for the season and worth a revisit.
As you can see, being on the mailing list is an easy way to stay connected with everything that’s happening on the blog! Again, you can sign up here if you are interested.
Other Goodies:
I’m SO excited that Sugarland is back! (Anyone else an old-school Sugarland fan?) I am planning to go to one of their concerts this summer and have already pre-ordered their new album! (affiliate link)
Speaking of music, did you watch the CMAs last night? It’s one of my favorite award shows. My top two performances of the evening were Reba and Kelly Clarkson’s duet and Carrie Underwood’s performance of her new song.
These Mini Peach Cobblers ( a post I wrote for HomeGoods) are making me so excited for summer!
Pinterest has been making some wonderful changes lately. I’m hoping the platform continues to improve. If you’re not following Inspired by Charm, you can do so here. I’m still pinning every day!
Shhhh!:
And finally, as a reward for all of you who’ve read this far, I have a very exciting house hunting update to share with you soon. Since it’s still early, I’m not posting an official announcement, but consider this our secret. Please keep your fingers crossed for me!
That’s it for now! As always, thank you so much for reading IBC and sharing in life’s adventures with me!

Sweet and tropical, learn how to create your own Homemade Pineapple Rum with this easy recipe!
When you’re making a new cocktail or an old favorite that calls for pineapple rum, skip the store-bought version and make your own. The flavor will be so much better, and this recipe is easy as one-two-three!
Homemade Pineapple Rum:
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been infusing alcohol for years. I love a fruit- or herb-flavored liquor but often find that the ones available at the liquor store miss the mark. The flavor seems a bit manufactured or fake. (Spoiler alert: It probably is.)
While you certainly can’t recreate every flavored liquor at home, there are several varieties that you can, and this Homemade Pineapple Rum is one of them.
As I said at the beginning of this post, the process is super simple, but it does take a little time.
Simply add freshly cut pineapple chunks to a jar, top it with a good white rum, and then let it soak for 1-2 weeks.
That’s it!
Tips for making Homemade Pineapple Rum:
Use the best ingredients. Be sure to use a flavorful pineapple and a rum you enjoy on its own. The result of the infusion will only taste as good as the ingredients used.
Allow the rum and pineapple to sit for at least a week. For the best flavor, I recommend two weeks.
Don’t like rum? Try vodka!
Before you know it, you’ll be sipping on some pineapple-inspired cocktails, feeling as though you’re at the beach. It doesn’t get better than that! Cheers!
That’s it, friends. I told you it was simple! Have you ever tried Homemade Pineapple Rum or any other infused spirits? What’s your favorite flavored liquor?
Place the pineapple chunks in a large, air-tight container. Pour the rum over the pineapple, covering it completely. Seal the container.
Allow the pineapple to soak in the rum for 1-2 weeks. Lightly shake the container and turn it over every day or two.
After the infusion is complete, drain the liquor from the fruit. Store the infused liquor in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to three months.

The flavors of fresh basil, ripe blackberries, and refreshing lemon blend together beautifully in this Blackberry Basil Sangria. It’s the perfect spring / summer cocktail recipe!
I don’t know about you, but after this week, I’m in the mood for a drink. In fact, I deserve ALL of the drinks. As I’ve told you, I am house hunting (and house selling), and this past week has been a stressful one. *checks blood pressure*.
Blackberry Basil Sangria:
That’s why today I’m mixing up this delicious and gorgeous Blackberry Basil Sangria. Won’t you join me?
It’s no secret that sangria is one of my go-to spring and summer cocktails. I’ve created a variety of sangria recipes here on Inspired by Charm (You can find all of them here.).
However, this new one has quickly moved to the top with my favorites.
How Do you Make Sangria:
What I love most about this particular recipe is the basil. You wouldn’t think that basil would go well in sangria, but it’s truly magical. Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised though since I’ve previously made and enjoyed a number of drinks with basil (and other herbs).
As noted in the recipe, the club soda is optional. I’m one of those people who like a little fizz in sangria, especially on a warm and sunny day.
Just be sure not to add the club soda too early. Immediately before serving is best.
If you weren’t quite ready for spring and summer, one sip of this will get you there!
No matter how your week has gone or what you have planned for your weekend, I definitely recommend putting this recipe for Blackberry Basil Sangria in your back pocket so you’re ready next time you need a sip of sunshine!
The flavors of fresh basil, ripe blackberries, and refreshing lemon blend together beautifully in this Blackberry Basil Sangria. It's the perfect spring / summer cocktail recipe!
In a large pitcher, pour in the pinot grigio and rum.
Add the blackberries, basil, and lemon slices and stir gently to combine.
Refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight.
Before serving, stir in the club soda. Serve in a glass over ice.
Notes
*Although I love the subtle fizz, this sangria is just as good without the club soda. Also, after sitting in the refrigerator, your basil may not look fresh and green. Before serving, feel free to remove it and toss in a few new leaves for color.

Need a party dip? You’ll love this Roasted Red Pepper Dip. It’s cheesy and flavorful, and you can prepare it with minimal hands-on time.
Roasted Red Pepper Dip:
IBC readers know I love me a good appetizer dip. What’s a celebration or get-together without some dip action, right?
And with summer (hopefully) just around the corner, I thought this was the perfect time for an addition to IBC’s growing list of favorite dip recipes: Roasted Red Pepper Dip!
How to Make Roasted Red Pepper Dip:
It’s actually quite simple and it’s one of the thing I especially like about this recipe. Plus, it comes together with little hands-on time.
Besides chopping the roasted red peppers, onions, and garlic, all you need to do is stir, bake, and serve.
You can even mix up all of this goodness a day or two in advance, store it in the refrigerator, and then pop it into the oven when it’s time to party.
This dip pairs nicely with a sturdy cracker or bagel chip, but you can certainly serve it with cut vegetables, such celery and carrots.
Let’s dig in!
Want more dip recipes? These are a few of my favorites:
